“Charged extra in hotel”

★★★☆☆

written by Ianinho on 23/10/2017

When arrived in the hotel and presented the accommodation voucher I asked if we had a seaview as advertised on their site, to my surprise was told no and when I was asked to prove we were due a seaview I couldn't because all it said on there was room with balcony. So I was offered the chance to pay extra and upgrade, which I did and given a receipt to prove to sunshine.I know why they do not have a phone number to keep costs down but only being in contact by e mail is not good practice to me as I would like to speak to someone to sort problems out. The room we were supposed to have was overlooking a derelict carpark and a falling down building instead of a spectacular view of san Antonio bay

Hotel good value. Very clean rooms as were all the common areas. Rooms very spacious although the beds are most uncomfortable. Staff very efficient but a few smiles wouldn't have gone amiss! Overall though nice hotel in a good area.

“great villa”

★★★☆☆

written by 143Jorgensen on 09/07/2016

Booking the villa was very easy on line, collecting villa keys from airport was fast and easy, it could not have been easier. the villa was clean, only down side was that we booked a villa online, and booked a villa with air conditioning, turned up and NO air conditioning, which was advertised on line that villa had air conditioning, spoke to the customer service team and got pushed pillar to post, and got nowhere luckily it was not the hottest week while on holiday, so put up with it,

Would use Sunshine Holiday Company again - found them very helpful as they keep you up too date on what you have to do next - ie down load boarding passes - how much you still have to pay, and give you plenty of time to do so - here's to my next holiday with Sunshine Holidays- Not one thing I did not like with this company -Kind regards

“ABTA PROTECTED??”

★★★☆☆

written by on 09/07/2015

We booked our 2015 holiday through Sunshine.co.uk who are an "ABTA" member. However please be aware that their "supplier" who they purchased the holiday from was NOT, so when things went wrong there was nothing ABTA could do to help other than offer advise. This is a real shame because in general we found Sunshine to offer a good service at competitive prices and this was not the first time we had booked through them. However until this loophole is closed we would not recommend them to friends or family and would have to give serious consideration before booking through them again in the future.

“Good Central Location ”

★★★☆☆

written by McKeefj40 on 31/10/2014

Fergus Plaza Santa Ponsa. We had a private transfer from the airport and check-in was fast and efficient with a pleasant young man on the reception desk. We were in our room within an hour of landing so fairly close to the airport. Rooms tend to vary but ours had a small balcony with table & chairs. The food was okay but lacked a varied selection mainly I feel due the small number of guests due to the hotels size. The hotels ground floor is made up of the bar, lounge area dining room etc. There is a small swimming pool that was clean but was more of a splash pool to cool off in. There is a small shaded area around the pool area with sunbeds. The bar extended out onto the street at the front of the hotel under a pleasant shaded seating area great for watching the world go by whilst having a drink. Cleaners were good, beds were made every day regardless of what time we left the room plus, clean towels every day as well. The hotel is in a good location just 3 minutes’ walk to beach past shops & bars. The beach is a large bay with a very nice clean sandy beach gently shelving ideal for swimming with plenty of fish around. There are at the back of the beach cafes, toilets, shaded areas and a long promenade with shops, bar, restaurants & fast food outlets all along the opposite side leading up to the Irish quarter. Breakfast was okay again lacking selection. The rooms are generally very noisy and lack any sound proofing Our original room had a fan / pump noise that seems to affect any high numbered rooms ending in 15 or above However, we had no problem changing rooms and ended up with a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the roundabout. Our room was a reasonable size for two people and the balcony was adequate. However, the shower was very small and I could only just fit in! All Staff apart from the young man that checked us in looked battle hardened, with faces might crack if they smiled! I guess that because of the noisy rooms with the fan / pump noise issue. It seems that everybody rotates through these rooms when the hotel is full. Then changing to a quieter room when one becomes empty! I think this issue really needs to be addressed by the management as this really reflects on the whole place and I'm sure it makes the staff think it's a failing organisation. This probably explains with they all seem to look so down trodden. To be fair to the staff they were though quite helpful when asked for something. That said of course if you’re lucky and get a low number room then you will probably wonder what all the fuss is about and why the staff look so unhappy! After we had changed rooms we did enjoy our stay and I thought the location was great, just 3 minutes to the beach. Oktoberfest (German themed beer festival) was on across the roundabout during our stay so it was fairly noisy at night till midnight but since we don’t go to bed early on holiday this wasn’t a problem for us. Considering what we paid I think it was fair value and if you like the beach then it will be fine. The pool area was not great but to be fair as they never are in smaller hotels. One good thing was everything around the hotel was mainly level, no hills! Therefore, if you have trouble getting around this may be a consideration as a good place to stay. Overall I think if you are looking for a cheap week away close to the beach then the Fergus Plaza Santa Ponsa is fine. That is provided you don’t get a high numbered room with the fan noise! Low number rooms at front are best as you will get late afternoon sun on your balcony.

“Budget Egyptian hotel”

★★★☆☆

written by gtClay412 on 28/08/2014

As I travel a lot I could mark the hotel 3* the most. Although food and beverage service is excellent, rooms are not cleaned daily. There is a water supply in a type of dispenser located outside where you can fill your initial bottle of water. I waited 4 days before giving staff some cash which worked the treat. In regards of the hotel they are mainly Russian and Polish who drink alcohol from breakfast till bed time and were very noisy and inconsiderate to others. Hotel it self is old but does the job, staff are lovely, friendly and very, very helpful. I wouldn't personally go back but for some it can be budget option

“Atlantik Apartments Altinkum Turkey”

★★★☆☆

written by sunshineuk on 04/08/2014

Me, my husband and our friends stayed at the Atlantick Apartments from 29th June till 14th July. We have stayed in Altinkum many times over several years, but this was our first stay at the Atlantik. The apartments were on par with most budget places - basic but clean. We had a very 'interesting' double bed which consisted of a tiny base and two mattresses on top, it was really uncomfortable and if one of us was in bed and the other sat on the side, you nearly bounced out! The pool was kept spotless and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a Turkish bath in the hotel, which is cheaper for residents. My husband and our friends all went and said it was lovely and good value. There was plenty of sunbeds and the bar while not the cheapest, wasn't too badly priced. There was free wi-fi available near the bar and in the front lobby. When we first got there the snacks were pretty good, but they then got a new chef and they were dire. My husband asked for a chicken burger and when it arrived there was 3 tiny pieces of chicken less than an inch long and a slice of tomato! My husband took it back to the bar and you could see the look of horror on the bar staffs faces - he ended up with a huge chicken breast in a burger bun which he was happy about, but they didn't change the chips so they were clay cold. The apartments are really close to the main strip and the beach, so are in an ideal location. A dolmus (bus) passes every few minutes should you wish to go further afield ie the Apollo Temple or water park. We did enjoy our stay and I would have given the hotel 5 stars if it hadn't been for two issues. The first one was the music around the pool was always blasting, to the point the speakers vibrated and sometimes the choice of music wasn't suitable for younger ears. People would ask for it to be turned down and it would be for a short time, then back up. Some guests were going behind the bar and putting what they wanted on YouTube. Unless you went out of the hotel you couldn't escape it as it would drown out the sound of the tv in our room, no chance of an afternoon nap before heading out for the evening. The second issue we had was our rooms were cleaned and we got clean towels on our second day, then the cleaners didn't come to either of our apartments. The towels were rotten as it was over 40 degrees and we were showering twice per day, also none of the rubbish had been taken away or loo roll restocked. Our friend had a word with the manager on our 9th day and the bins were emptied, we got a loo roll and clean towels, but no cleaning was done. We didn't get anymore towels etc for the rest of the duration of the holiday. It really was a shame about the couple of issues we had as I am sure the Atlantik would be an amazing place.

written by on 06/04/2014

Enjoyed a two week break in March 2014. Weather was lovely and warm. Hotel was rather dated, but clean. The stairs to the apartment were difficult to negotiate especially when carrying heavy cases. The hotel staff were all very helpful room cleaning was daily and thorough Hotel situated near residential area which meant a lot of barking dogs day and night which spoiled the peaceful setting of the hotel Lovely spacious balcony with sun all day. Television was very poor. Only one English news channel which was very repetitive

“Sunshine.co.uk/Holiday Brokers- Serenity Area of Club...”

★★★☆☆

written by Rafanadal on 15/10/2013

For people who want to get away and totally chill out the place to stay is The Serenity Area of Club Siroco, Costa Teguise, Lanzarote – Brilliant. We booked a holiday for 2 adults in a Superior room within the Serenity Area of the Club Siroco Aparthotel complex (the other area is more for families)in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote via Sunshine.co.uk (who used Holiday Brokers for their accommodation bookings) in June. We paid extra for this room and the Serenity area. However we were put into a standard room and not in the Serenity area. After speaking with the hotel manager we were informed that Club Siroco didn’t recognise the word - 'SUPERIOR' only PREMIUM for rooms in Serenity area for guests booking via Sunshine (although we'd paid extra). We had to contact Sunshine (by this time we'd lost 2 days of the holiday in accommodation we'd not booked) they sorted out the problem (losing another 6 hours), we were given the room we'd booked and paid for (apparently the error was with the agents – Holiday Brokers who had booked us into the incorrect type of room) We enjoyed our stay so much we went back in September staying again in Serenity area, this time we booked through a different company (we'd lost confidence in Sunshine and didn't want the possible stress of this problem occurring again). We think the word Superior when booking above stay via Sunshine/Holiday Brokers should be amended to Premium so there really isn't the confusion we had. We have written to Sunshine and although they admit they made an error do not appear to have amended their wording. We have written this review for people who intend to stay at Club Siroco and require accommodation in Serenity Area only.

“First time with Sunshine ”

★★★☆☆

written by on 27/09/2011

Booking of all elements of this holiday were simple on line and full details/tickets arrived without problem.Outward journey and transfer to Hotel went without a hitch. However Hotel we chose , whilst not the most expensive was shown as a 3 Star Hotel The Los Angeles in Salou. It was clean but rooms were basic to say the least and few of the staff were what you would call pleasant or helpful. The food could have been much better. Whilst there was plenty of it the choices were limited and it would have been nice to have a HOT meal instead of the luke warm offerings presented. The only thing they served hot was the water out of the tea machine in the mornings. We sought out local restuarants for our meals in the latter part of the week. On arrival by shuttle bus we were advised to telephone the transfer company A2B Transfers to find out when our pickup time would be for the return to the airport using the numbers provided in our documentation. When we did so the operator advised us that neither the 'Office number' nor the emergency numbers given to us were Quote 'allocated to a client' This meant a hasty search for internet access to get pickup times. Moans apart I would however use this Company again but will make more thourough enquiry about hotels etc prior to booking.and to be fair I think these gripes were outwith the control of Sunshine but worthy of note by them .

When holiday is booked online there is usually an initial deposit payable immediately.Emails are sent each month stating balance owing and giving information regarding final date for outstanding cost. Payments towards final cost can be made anytime from booking date to final payment date ,so the cost can be spread out...

No confirmation phone call just an email about payment plan and confirmation of booking
Report this content cjcjmd14 Written on: 23/01/2019
No, there is no confirmation call, you book and pay your deposit and then the email will be sent to you to confirm your booking and the remainder of the cost of your holiday. Sunshine Holidays are fantastic and very helpful if you have any problems, just log into your account and send them a message, you will get a reply soon afterwards. They are one of the cheapest holiday providers and we all love a bargain don't we??

Report this content Andrad Written on: 15/01/2018
Depends on who you are flying with, You can still book seats " At a cost" (Another way of making more money for the Airlines) We booked but it was quite expensive an extra £400 pounds on top of our budget. IE: (x4 Flights @ &50 per head = £100 per person per Flight) But as we had the two grandkids with us we wanted to make sure we were together and to pay was the only guaranteed way to do this. Seems like the airlines will still let you book your seats BUT when you check in there is NO guarantee that you will get the seats as they work on the check in desk first come first served (Unless you have paid for the seats).
Report this content karnig Written on: 15/01/2018
Sunshine put together the package.......Flight...Transfers and accommodation .....If you want to pay you CAN pre book your seats.......Depending which carrier you fly with ( easyjet ryanair Thomas cook) You can log into your account and the airline will tell you when is the earliest time to book seats which they allocate free of charge....We have always done this and always sat together....Hope this helps

Once you have selected your flight/carrier and have paid for this part of your package you can do all the normal pre-flight things. EG Passenger Information, Passport Details if appropriate etc. With most carriers you can opt to select seats (More Leg room, Sit by ailse or window etc,), Sunshine are making contact on your behalf with Hotels, Carriers, Transfer Agents etc. When requesting something special communicate with the Company with whom a contract has been arranged in your name by Sunshine. This is why Sunshine holidays are so relatively cheap. An example We are going once more to Egypt, I have contacted the Hotel to ask for specific accommodation. I have now holidayed with Sunshine for 3 Years they provide excellent service especially in payment terms spreading the cost over as much as 11 months. Use them they are excellent. Hope this helps.

Used them for the first time last summer and like you, I too was sceptical as they were cheaper for the same hotel than anyone else. However I couldn’t have been more wrong. I paid £1 deposit for the hotel with the balance payable a month before departure. I even telephoned them when I had a query and they were very helpful. So I would say go ahead, book and enjoy your holiday.

I used them for the first time this year and had the same concerns but I can assure you that they are a real company. Their prices are very competitive, we went to Mexico in September this year, I had forgotten to book transportation from the sirport to our resort, I emailed them and they advised how to book it on their website, we paid £11.45 for the journey (return). We were asked by another couple (whilst in Mexico) how much our transfer was, they were shocked as they had paid 40 euros EACH WAY. I will definitely be using Sunshine Holidays again in the very near future for next year.

About 5 years ago. They are basic but very clean, sheets and towels changed every other day. We stayed for 8 nights Last year and clean sheets and towels all the time. We would not stay any where else, has everything you need, Air condioning, swimming pool right across from the beautiful beach. Very popular so you need to book fast

I was there in March this year and the bungalow I stayed in had definitely been refurbished! The sofa bed is now far more substantial and is faux leather, very comfy, the rest of the furniture looked as though someone had been to Ikea, very Scandanavian, the interior had recently been redecorated, the pool has had the children's area removed and instead has lovely steps down into the main body of the pool, very comfortable beds and the kitchen area has everything you need including a kettle and toaster, no microwave but didn't need one. You can sleep with the window wide open, as they have tasteful grid work on the exterior, which makes it very safe. Lovely staff and everywhere was kept lovely and clean. Lovely little apartment complex, would thoroughly recommend. Lastly, it is on the flat, no hills or steps to climb, 5 mins from bars and restaurants and 5 mins to the beach.

not sure if its been refurbished as it was the 1st time we had been to this hotel but they were very clean, towels and sheets changed daily, they were basic but had everything we needed. we would definitely stay here again, we wasn't in the tower block part of the hotel.

The main body of the hotel has refurbished rooms. The annexe around the corner may not have been. Having said that, the rooms in the annexe are clean & the beds are comfortable, I prefer the annexe myself. Been going to this hotel for a number of years,& will be booking again very soon.

Yes. You can cancel your booking and book a new one if you want. You will simply just lose the £1.00 booking fee. If you have booked an "advanced" rate though, you will lose all your money if you cancel. This only applies to the hotel bookings through "Sunshine" holidays. I booked the flight separately, so cannot comment on complete holiday/flight bookings through Sunshine. I hope that helps.
Report this content Hylod Written on: 07/03/2017
I have never had to amend any of my details before so do not know if there is a cost. I would personally go direct to the company by e-mailing them for the information as they are an online travel company. Sorry I can't be of any further help.
Report this content lizdunbar Written on: 07/03/2017
Sunshine holidays acts as an agent for bookings so I imagine rules re cancellation will depend on the company who provide the holiday. Best to phone and ask.

Report this content jnev52 Written on: 10/03/2017
I suppose it depends on how big an amendment you're trying to make. I realised I'd mistakenly put down my wife as Mr. instead of Mrs., and it was corrected by email without delay, fuss or charge.

I booked with Sunshine in 2015. They are a reliable and reputable company. You need to select the separate elements of the package, i.e. flights, hotel, transfers, then the complete package is ATOL protected. I hope this is helpful.

Report this content LadyG_DHQ Written on: 05/04/2016
Following info from money.co.uk-: A major part of the ATOL reform in April, 2012, was to make the license and its protection for customers obligatory for all firms, whether acting as a travel agent (see above) or as the provider of your holiday, e.g. flight plus car hire booked through the airline or a third party. This means that flight-plus packages booked through the same provider must legally be covered with ATOL protection, even if individual elements are booked at different times. However, if your travel organiser refers you to an external website to book your car hire, for example, your booking is not considered a flight-plus package. As long as your flight, accommodation and/or car hire are booked within 24 hours of each other it doesn't even matter which is booked first, although trips must be over 24 hours in duration or include an overnight stay. Other elements that form a significant part of your holiday are also covered by the provider's ATOL protection, provided these initial flight-plus criteria are met. Booking via credit card gives back up protection - again from money.co.uk You can also impose a level of your own protection on your flights or accommodation by booking them with your credit card. If the flight or hotel cost between £100 and £30,000, you will benefit from Section 75 protection which will mean your credit card provider accepts liability if your flight or hotel lets you down. However there are specific rules that govern when exactly your credit card provider will pay out; for example it will only pay out if your flight or accommodation provider is the party at fault. So it is unlikely to pay out for accommodation that you are unable to reach because of cancellation or delays of your flights. Hope this helps
Report this content Div67 Written on: 05/04/2016
Sunshine should have mailed you an Atol certificate for your booking, it will tell you what and who is covered on this, it should all be covered, if this is regarding the liquidation of Jewel in the Crown holidays they are now refunding, access your booking and the option there will be "refund flight" or "refund full booking" Best of luck.

To be honest not 100% sure. For the past 3 years (and this year) I have been booking hotel only with Sunshine, as they are the cheapest I can find, and booking the flight with either easyjet or aer lingus and booking a taxi transfer separately. I have had no problems at all. I would suggest you check with Sunshine to be absolutely sure one way or other.
Report this content jacquieO Written on: 05/04/2016

Yes they are ATOL protected is on their website
Report this content pigster104 Written on: 06/04/2016
Yes. You will find the cost includes a small insurance premium covering the package
Report this content SensibleReviewer1 Written on: 06/04/2016
Yes and No. Sunshine are a travel agent and therefore the contract for the supply of the holiday is with the travel company or if booked as individual hotel, flight, transfers etc, with each of sunshine's suppliers. Sunshine are members of ABTA and so trade under a code of practice. They also have ATOL protection which provides some cover/arbitration with the airlines. So.... So the answer is YES if you purchase a holiday from sunshine which is actually a package from a tour operator, and ..... No - if you purchase flight, hotel and transfers individually from Sunshine, even at the same time, as this does not constitute a package. BUT if you ask Sunshine they will tell you exactly what cover you do have on each of the elements. They are good to deal with and I have been happy with them in the past. Check out their T&C's.

I booked last year with no problems and Ive booked again this year You can speak to someone at their call centre if you need advise - I did and they were very helpful. You can pay a deposit and pay the holiday off in stages - your on line account tells you what you have to pay and by what date. When all payments have been made you then go into your account and print off all your paperwork for your flight, hotel and transfer (or whatever you have booked).I found the process from start to finish very easy with no hassle whatsoever.

We booked in october for a holiday the following August. We received our money back but trying to book a holiday in July for August, there is limited holidays left on the internet and very expensive! Also had a booking for a large group with Sunshine and again they cancelled part of our group which didn't work. (we booked as a group), they wouldn't refund the ones they hadn't cancelled only the ones they had!! We had previous to that used them for 2 or 3 years and had no issues - but nothing that needed sorting either! I wouldn't use them again, you need customer service to be able to sort out problems if they arise.

This site is 110% safe I have used them the last 5-6 years and would never now use anyone else we had a massive delay in turkey 3 years ago we were put up in a nice hotel in Dalaman and given complimentary toiletries and breakfast we were kept fully informed of our circumstances. We also had to change a passenger travelling with us last year and again this was not a problem everything was sorted and 24 hours later while at the airport check in everything went through smoothly.I would recommend Sunshine to anyone thinking about booking a holiday and do not worry about anything from the booking to returning home.We are away 2 weeks Friday and be assured going with sunshine i have saved around £300.00-£400.00. Good Luck And enjoy

Go to their website and you will find it there.  We`d recommend this company 100% as they gave us the perfect holiday . We used to deal with " Olympic holidays " who were a nightmare gone wrong so we went to sunshine holidays because sunshine actually helped us at the airport in Cyprus one year as Olympic were as much use as a canoe with a handbrake lol .After sunshine helping us out in our hour of need we decided to give them a try for the same package holiday and they 100% better in every dept you could think of !Well done Sunshine Holidays and thanks again.

Look at the bottom of the page and click contact, you then get the option to ask a question via email or search through various answers or go to second paragraph box and click on contact Admin where this number appears, They do everything online to keep the cost down which if you compare to other sites is very cheap

I found the site by accident through searching google. I have booked a forthcoming holiday with them. I have had a couple of minor hick-pups, like on my e.ticket they put my name followed by Sunshine and the address they put wasn't mine, but theirs. They have told me it has all been sorted so I hope so. The reason I chose this company was that I wanted to stay at a particular hotel in Turkey where I stayed last year and it wasn't in the brochure this year. I am worrying a little though as I have tried to contact the hotel direct and the number has been unobtainable and I have received no reply to my emails, but Sunshine assure me that all is well!!! I just can hope and pray they are right.

No they operate the same way as most operators do nowadays. You need to log into your account and print the tickets (called vouchers) off
Report this content Lals45 Written on: 25/04/2014
No. They don't send tickets in the post. They send an email to the email address you provided, giving details on how to login to your sunshine account (which you'll register when you buy your holiday) and from there you'll print what they call you vouchers - essentially a paper version of an e-ticket. Present this to your hotel on arrival and enjoy! My hotel immediately recognised sunshine and I had no problems at all.
Report this content RodJones22025 Written on: 25/04/2014

Hi, Sunshine do not send tickets. If you log into your account, you should have links where you click on and print out all your tickets / vouchers. I had a link for flight tickets, accomodation and also airport car parking. I think they are available to print as soon as the holiday is paid in full.
Report this content Sunnychap Written on: 25/04/2014

Report this content twride Written on: 25/04/2014
Sunshine do everything on-line. Once you've registered with Sunshine you will be given your login details. As and when you pay for your holiday different vouchers become available on the on-line system. You will need to download and print off these vouchers and take them with you on holiday. For example if you've booked a flight Sunshine will upload flight vouchers, if you've booked a hotel they will upload hotel vouchers, likewise for transfers along with your ATOL certificate. All your vouchers will be on the on-line system once you're fully paid up. Every once in a while you may get an email advising you that you have new vouchers. These will normally be updated ones to replace those already on the system. Even your flight will be verified with these vouchers. You need to take this to the check-in desk on arrival at your airport for your boarding cards to be issued. Or you can, using the details Sunshine give you on the flight voucher, login to the airline website and check-in on-line if that facility exists for your airline. In this case you'll be able to print off your boarding cards before you go. Make sure you have all your vouchers before you go on holiday and take them all with you. Hope this helps.

My tickets were emailed for me to print out but you could always email them and see if they will post. Most companies now charge postage etc
