“AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!”

written by Goodwinfa380 on 29/04/2022

Update AVOID AVOID AVOID Update. Second complaint of our booked holidays! We are going on holidays the 9th May. After fully paying for this 2 weeks ago, last night we were charged an extra £1014.50, taken straight from our account. We have spoken to several members of staff today having been on hold for over 2 hours at the cost of over 1.50 per minute, we were assured that someone from accounts would call back today, suprise suprise no one has. Sunshine holidays are a bad joke, we have now spent over £300 trying to call them to ask why they have taken an extra 1000 pound from us and still no answer. If you are looking for sunshine AVOID using sunshine!!!!!!

“Terrible Customer Service - Non Existant”

written by on 22/03/2022

I have been waiting over 10 days for confirmation that my hotel change request on their website (Travelling 6th May to Tunisia) has been actioned. I have sent emails, spent hours waiting on the phone, contacted them via facebook however no-one has contacted me other than today when I received an email stating that they will be in touch within 31 days. There customer service is non existant.

“Book elsewhere they don’t refund flights ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ziegler166 on 22/02/2021

Booked a package holiday which was subsequently cancelled due to Govt advice against travel. I was only refunded price if hotel and not the flights. I have complained but just get passed from pillar to post and am still out of pocket as they say they’re not responsible. Disgraceful ... please don’t book with this company go with a reputable firm.

“I booked my holiday with these clowns on a Thursday...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by schubertdog on 26/09/2020

I booked my holiday with these clowns on a Thursday eve, for the next 48 hours I was eagerly awaiting my confirmation email as per the booking email they sent me which contained the following:- "Thank you for your order with us, xxxxx xxxxxxx We'll now check the availability of your requested order with your chosen airline and hotelier. Once confirmed, this will be booked on your behalf and you'll receive a Booking Confirmation Email within 48 hours of making your initial booking request. In most cases, bookings will be confirmed by email. If it's no longer possible to confirm your requested booking, a member of our Online Team will contact you to discuss.! Friday came and went, no email. Saturday, the same, so by now i'm getting nervous. Found out how to log into my online account they had created when I made the booking, navigated to my booking, status CANCELLED!! No phone call, no email, no text, nothing, not a word. To prove a response I lodged a complaint, 6 weeks later still no response. The only saving grace was they didn't process the payment. Don't waste your time with these losers, find your holiday online, print it out then take it to a high street agent to make the booking. At least that way you get instant confirmation your holiday is booked.

what does the reviewer mean when he says '6 weeks later no response' this review was written recently???

Though i must admit that they are not taking 'last minute live bookings- just online bookings in a weeks(?) time? - but me and my wife believe this is down to staff shortages caused by covid, and dealing with turkeys cancellations

“Don’t waste your time”

written by DDebs on 21/01/2020

DO NOT "BOOK They lure you into thinking you are making a live booking with them, when in fact you are just making an order or request for a potential holiday that may or may not be available for that price / those dates. Calls costing 13p a min when you phone them and they want more money out of you to carry on with the booking Another £475 they wanted from me I just decided to cancel a waste of my time!!

“Shocking service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by charlottetaylor on 14/06/2019

The worst experience of my life and I am still living it. I searched online and found the place and accommodation I wanted. It was on a big companies site and sunshines site...same price and I chose sunshine as I like to support smaller businesses. What a mistake. I paid by credit card and booked to go Tuesday 5 days time. you would expect it to be booked but NO i get a message saying pending...wait 48 hours. OK felt nervous but expected to hear within an hour. Nothing the whole day...next day woke up...nothing. I fb messaged them at 10am...no reply. I messaged again at 12.45 to cancel and emailed to cancel. i then rang them and stayed on hold for over 40 minutes...no answer. I rang my credit card company who said they have not taken the money and do not worry as you have evidence that you have cancelled if they take the money then we can claim and refund it. Long story short at 4.50pm they send an email saying its booked. Then the guy comes on to the face book saying too late ... he was so indignant like he enjoyed it i said I emailed he said well takes 48 hours to read them!! I read the Facebook reviews and loads of people have the same experience. When the card company said they have not taken the money I read the FAQs on sunshines website and it said that they reserve the right to increase the price or change the hotel but would talk to you first and would not take the money until you are happy...so they deffo took the money way after I cancelled. If you book a month in advance you may stand a chance but READ THE REVIEWS...AVOID ...AVOID ....AVOID"

“Recent holiday to Benedorm ”

★★★★★

written by bazthejudge on 26/05/2019

We returned yesterday from Benidorm Spain , which I booked as a surprise for my wifes birthday . She did not know until 5.30pm the night before ! We last went there about 40 + years ago . The booking was straightforward on line and all the paperwork came through on time . It was very simple and seemed efficient .The flights from southend our local airport were fine via Easyjet out and Ryanair back Transfers were quick and efficient and worked fine . We were dropped some 50 mtrs from the hotel . We stayed in the Hotel Montesol a 2 star ,but very nice ,spotlessly clean and always smelled beautiful on entering . Very helpful staff in all departments especially on reception . Our room on the 2nd floor was excellent and a great bathroom with large shower and plentiful hot water and even toiletries on the side of the hand basin . The room overlooked the side street but no noise from there and a good nights rest was had . We only booked B&B , but with so many eateries around that was enough . Room was cleaned and beds changed every day and kept spotless . Although there were step (8 ) into the hotel there was even a lift in side the foyer for those in chairs or if stairs are a problem , with lift to all floors . Breakfast was buffet style and vary comprehensive . We would recommend this well run hotel to all and would certainly visit again . B & J Myers Essex UK

“No Refund”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Eaton436 on 01/03/2019

My Friend booked a holiday with this site, for herself and her friend. She was told after booking that they could not give her the holiday she ordered. Through no fault of her own. EU citizen. Paid in full. The company refused to handle the refund, and washed their hands of all responsibility. AND KEPT THE MONEY!! No refund, no investigation. They say they act as third party, but they have a duty of care to THEIR customers and they have neglected that care. I am ashamed of this company. Causing so much grief and pain to my friend. Who is out of pocket. 1 star. and i will continue to review this company, until i they take responsibility for their actions.

“Luggage”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Dagen on 27/01/2019

I have booked a holiday for August 2019, travelling with Easyjet, we have been given 15kg of weight only. I have then booked another 14 people on the same holiday with Love Holidays we are all on the same flight, the other 14 have 23kg of weight. I have spoken to Easyjet who have informed me that Subshine do have the option of picking 23kg. So basically because of giving us smaller luggage weight sunshine have lost out on 14 people booking with them. If I knew before I booked about the weight I would have gone with love holidays

I had never books son line before and was very wary but can honestly say sunshine were fantastic all the way from booking to departure reassured concerns all the way and we will definitely book with them again it took a while to get through to talk to anyone but was put at ease when did. The hotel we went to was beautiful staff could not do enough to ensure a clean safe and friendly environment. There were a lot of French people and entertainment seemed to be mainly catered for them but we made some lovely friends and even though they couldn't speak English we communicated very well and met every evening was so sad to leave our holiday destination transport was smack on time and free bus transfers were reliable Thankyou sunshine for providing a great service, we stayed at hotel aquamarine Tenerife

“Hotel was lovely and experience with Sunshine great”

★★★★★

written by Landyn476 on 30/11/2018

We booked to go on our holiday in April and have just got back from a bit of winter sunshine for a week. The hotel was lovely, a bit quiet but that goes without saying at this time of year. The whole experience from start to finish with Sunshine was pain-free and simple. I had all the information I needed ahead of our holiday and would certainly use them again to book. We got such a good deal, that it meant our week in the sun cost barely anything. Great company and brand! Thank you Sunshine.

“worse experience!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Marina_I on 24/09/2018

I needed to book exact hotel. Booked holidays with sunshine.co.uk. Got confirmation email. Everything was fine. BUT, after 2 days they call me and inform that prices for the flight ticked increased and even that room in the hotel which I wanted is not available no more! Excuse me?! After all confirmations?! They asked to pay for 250£ more. It wasn't the cheap holidays, and with 250£ more it was really expensive. I had to cancel everything. It's absolutely unprofessionally from their side! For these 2 days this hotel was almost booked on all other websites. They spoiled my holidays. Be careful with this company, they can just increase all prices!

“complaint - cant get customer service - NEVER USE COMPANY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by moclarke on 04/09/2018

APT RUBBISH COPY OF EMAIL SENT TO 5 DIFFERENT CONTACT EMAILS ON LINE ALL OF WHICH BOUNCED BACK. I took these photos to reception and was almost dismissed by her aggressive tone. I asked for another room and she said there wasn't one free until the next afternoon. I insisted that we needed showers and she said oh you can have room 35 for tonight but tomorrow you move because that apt is booked and is more expensive. I pointed out that I had paid to and was given a filthy room with a bathroom which was stinking and had a vent in the ceiling which was dropping black dirt down. The shower fitting was not fitted to the wall and fell of Hook and there was no hot water. She continued to say about room 35. I said how unhappy I was and I would be making a complaint to which she shrugged her shoulders. I took the key 35 and went to look at it to see why it was as she said more expensive. Firstly the door would not lock and secondly the only difference was it had a clean and fitted shower which is what I had booked. I returned to her to explain the door issue to which she said oh you not do it right. I explained both my daughter and I had tried several times. She got the bar man to return to 35 with us to show us how it worked. He struggled for almost 15 minutes and was about to give up when by fluck he got it. I returned again to her and asked if we could not stay in that room even though it was not pool view which we paid for and she said no. She then told me that number 7 was free immediately if I wanted it. Strange there was nothing 30 mins before. I said I wanted to have a look before I agreed and although not great I had had enough for one day and told her yes I would move. No assistance was offered in moving groom first floor to ground. We struggled to pack up and move only to find out later that the patio door did not lock with key. I was so frustrated by this stage as our 1st day had been mayhem with all this. I asked a neighbour to try it he couldn't get it to work either. There was a little bar lock at top which I used to close it as best I could but one good pull would have opened the door.I went once again. To reception to explain further issues but she couldn't be bothered and said she would get someone to look at it tomorrow. I couldn't sleep for worrying about someone breaking in. I am furious about this and I will never use Sunshine holidays again and I will be posting these pictures online for others to see and not fall into the mess I did. The neighbour next to me had an even worse experience with flooding in his apt. The receptionist was rude and arrogant. My review will be quoting this email along with pics. I paid for a pool view apt with the same facilities as room 35 however I was put into a dump.

When holiday is booked online there is usually an initial deposit payable immediately.Emails are sent each month stating balance owing and giving information regarding final date for outstanding cost. Payments towards final cost can be made anytime from booking date to final payment date ,so the cost can be spread out...

No confirmation phone call just an email about payment plan and confirmation of booking
Report this content cjcjmd14 Written on: 23/01/2019
No, there is no confirmation call, you book and pay your deposit and then the email will be sent to you to confirm your booking and the remainder of the cost of your holiday. Sunshine Holidays are fantastic and very helpful if you have any problems, just log into your account and send them a message, you will get a reply soon afterwards. They are one of the cheapest holiday providers and we all love a bargain don't we??

Report this content Andrad Written on: 15/01/2018
Depends on who you are flying with, You can still book seats " At a cost" (Another way of making more money for the Airlines) We booked but it was quite expensive an extra £400 pounds on top of our budget. IE: (x4 Flights @ &50 per head = £100 per person per Flight) But as we had the two grandkids with us we wanted to make sure we were together and to pay was the only guaranteed way to do this. Seems like the airlines will still let you book your seats BUT when you check in there is NO guarantee that you will get the seats as they work on the check in desk first come first served (Unless you have paid for the seats).
Report this content karnig Written on: 15/01/2018
Sunshine put together the package.......Flight...Transfers and accommodation .....If you want to pay you CAN pre book your seats.......Depending which carrier you fly with ( easyjet ryanair Thomas cook) You can log into your account and the airline will tell you when is the earliest time to book seats which they allocate free of charge....We have always done this and always sat together....Hope this helps

Once you have selected your flight/carrier and have paid for this part of your package you can do all the normal pre-flight things. EG Passenger Information, Passport Details if appropriate etc. With most carriers you can opt to select seats (More Leg room, Sit by ailse or window etc,), Sunshine are making contact on your behalf with Hotels, Carriers, Transfer Agents etc. When requesting something special communicate with the Company with whom a contract has been arranged in your name by Sunshine. This is why Sunshine holidays are so relatively cheap. An example We are going once more to Egypt, I have contacted the Hotel to ask for specific accommodation. I have now holidayed with Sunshine for 3 Years they provide excellent service especially in payment terms spreading the cost over as much as 11 months. Use them they are excellent. Hope this helps.

I checked the prices for a holiday with sunshine which was competitive with others I had tried, and the reason I chose this site was because they had our particular requirements for that holiday. Booked it, got everything as I would have anywhere else, absolutely NO PROBLEMS I would definitely recommend sunshine ENJOY

We have booked with them twice and both times we've had no problems at all. I had to contact their customer service team via email while we were in Mexico as I wasn't able to make a phone call to the transfer company to arrange a pick up time and Sunshine organised it all very quickly and responded to our email with confirmation of our times. Both times that we've used them, no other company has been able to beat their prices and we will certainly be using them again.

Used them for the first time last summer and like you, I too was sceptical as they were cheaper for the same hotel than anyone else. However I couldn’t have been more wrong. I paid £1 deposit for the hotel with the balance payable a month before departure. I even telephoned them when I had a query and they were very helpful. So I would say go ahead, book and enjoy your holiday.

I used them for the first time this year and had the same concerns but I can assure you that they are a real company. Their prices are very competitive, we went to Mexico in September this year, I had forgotten to book transportation from the sirport to our resort, I emailed them and they advised how to book it on their website, we paid £11.45 for the journey (return). We were asked by another couple (whilst in Mexico) how much our transfer was, they were shocked as they had paid 40 euros EACH WAY. I will definitely be using Sunshine Holidays again in the very near future for next year.

About 5 years ago. They are basic but very clean, sheets and towels changed every other day. We stayed for 8 nights Last year and clean sheets and towels all the time. We would not stay any where else, has everything you need, Air condioning, swimming pool right across from the beautiful beach. Very popular so you need to book fast

I was there in March this year and the bungalow I stayed in had definitely been refurbished! The sofa bed is now far more substantial and is faux leather, very comfy, the rest of the furniture looked as though someone had been to Ikea, very Scandanavian, the interior had recently been redecorated, the pool has had the children's area removed and instead has lovely steps down into the main body of the pool, very comfortable beds and the kitchen area has everything you need including a kettle and toaster, no microwave but didn't need one. You can sleep with the window wide open, as they have tasteful grid work on the exterior, which makes it very safe. Lovely staff and everywhere was kept lovely and clean. Lovely little apartment complex, would thoroughly recommend. Lastly, it is on the flat, no hills or steps to climb, 5 mins from bars and restaurants and 5 mins to the beach.

Yes. You can cancel your booking and book a new one if you want. You will simply just lose the £1.00 booking fee. If you have booked an "advanced" rate though, you will lose all your money if you cancel. This only applies to the hotel bookings through "Sunshine" holidays. I booked the flight separately, so cannot comment on complete holiday/flight bookings through Sunshine. I hope that helps.
Report this content Hylod Written on: 07/03/2017
I have never had to amend any of my details before so do not know if there is a cost. I would personally go direct to the company by e-mailing them for the information as they are an online travel company. Sorry I can't be of any further help.

Sunshine holidays acts as an agent for bookings so I imagine rules re cancellation will depend on the company who provide the holiday. Best to phone and ask.

I suppose it depends on how big an amendment you're trying to make. I realised I'd mistakenly put down my wife as Mr. instead of Mrs., and it was corrected by email without delay, fuss or charge.

I booked with Sunshine in 2015. They are a reliable and reputable company. You need to select the separate elements of the package, i.e. flights, hotel, transfers, then the complete package is ATOL protected. I hope this is helpful.

Following info from money.co.uk-: A major part of the ATOL reform in April, 2012, was to make the license and its protection for customers obligatory for all firms, whether acting as a travel agent (see above) or as the provider of your holiday, e.g. flight plus car hire booked through the airline or a third party. This means that flight-plus packages booked through the same provider must legally be covered with ATOL protection, even if individual elements are booked at different times. However, if your travel organiser refers you to an external website to book your car hire, for example, your booking is not considered a flight-plus package. As long as your flight, accommodation and/or car hire are booked within 24 hours of each other it doesn't even matter which is booked first, although trips must be over 24 hours in duration or include an overnight stay. Other elements that form a significant part of your holiday are also covered by the provider's ATOL protection, provided these initial flight-plus criteria are met. Booking via credit card gives back up protection - again from money.co.uk You can also impose a level of your own protection on your flights or accommodation by booking them with your credit card. If the flight or hotel cost between £100 and £30,000, you will benefit from Section 75 protection which will mean your credit card provider accepts liability if your flight or hotel lets you down. However there are specific rules that govern when exactly your credit card provider will pay out; for example it will only pay out if your flight or accommodation provider is the party at fault. So it is unlikely to pay out for accommodation that you are unable to reach because of cancellation or delays of your flights. Hope this helps
Report this content Div67 Written on: 05/04/2016
Sunshine should have mailed you an Atol certificate for your booking, it will tell you what and who is covered on this, it should all be covered, if this is regarding the liquidation of Jewel in the Crown holidays they are now refunding, access your booking and the option there will be "refund flight" or "refund full booking" Best of luck.

To be honest not 100% sure. For the past 3 years (and this year) I have been booking hotel only with Sunshine, as they are the cheapest I can find, and booking the flight with either easyjet or aer lingus and booking a taxi transfer separately. I have had no problems at all. I would suggest you check with Sunshine to be absolutely sure one way or other.

Yes they are ATOL protected is on their website
Report this content pigster104 Written on: 06/04/2016
Yes. You will find the cost includes a small insurance premium covering the package
Report this content SensibleReviewer1 Written on: 06/04/2016
Yes and No. Sunshine are a travel agent and therefore the contract for the supply of the holiday is with the travel company or if booked as individual hotel, flight, transfers etc, with each of sunshine's suppliers. Sunshine are members of ABTA and so trade under a code of practice. They also have ATOL protection which provides some cover/arbitration with the airlines. So.... So the answer is YES if you purchase a holiday from sunshine which is actually a package from a tour operator, and ..... No - if you purchase flight, hotel and transfers individually from Sunshine, even at the same time, as this does not constitute a package. BUT if you ask Sunshine they will tell you exactly what cover you do have on each of the elements. They are good to deal with and I have been happy with them in the past. Check out their T&C's.

I booked last year with no problems and Ive booked again this year You can speak to someone at their call centre if you need advise - I did and they were very helpful. You can pay a deposit and pay the holiday off in stages - your on line account tells you what you have to pay and by what date. When all payments have been made you then go into your account and print off all your paperwork for your flight, hotel and transfer (or whatever you have booked).I found the process from start to finish very easy with no hassle whatsoever.

We booked in october for a holiday the following August. We received our money back but trying to book a holiday in July for August, there is limited holidays left on the internet and very expensive! Also had a booking for a large group with Sunshine and again they cancelled part of our group which didn't work. (we booked as a group), they wouldn't refund the ones they hadn't cancelled only the ones they had!! We had previous to that used them for 2 or 3 years and had no issues - but nothing that needed sorting either! I wouldn't use them again, you need customer service to be able to sort out problems if they arise.

This site is completely safe. Have used these for the passed 4 years and book all holidays mine and family's through this site. Last year I booked to go away with my nan and grandad unfortunately my nan died 3 weeks before we were due to go. They had no problems refunding my money and were very good at a horrible time for us. I tell everyone to go and book through sunshine holidays..

This site is 110% safe I have used them the last 5-6 years and would never now use anyone else we had a massive delay in turkey 3 years ago we were put up in a nice hotel in Dalaman and given complimentary toiletries and breakfast we were kept fully informed of our circumstances. We also had to change a passenger travelling with us last year and again this was not a problem everything was sorted and 24 hours later while at the airport check in everything went through smoothly.I would recommend Sunshine to anyone thinking about booking a holiday and do not worry about anything from the booking to returning home.We are away 2 weeks Friday and be assured going with sunshine i have saved around £300.00-£400.00. Good Luck And enjoy

We used to deal with " Olympic holidays " who were a nightmare gone wrong so we went to sunshine holidays because sunshine actually helped us at the airport in Cyprus one year as Olympic were as much use as a canoe with a handbrake lol .After sunshine helping us out in our hour of need we decided to give them a try for the same package holiday and they 100% better in every dept you could think of !Well done Sunshine Holidays and thanks again.

I found the site by accident through searching google. I have booked a forthcoming holiday with them. I have had a couple of minor hick-pups, like on my e.ticket they put my name followed by Sunshine and the address they put wasn't mine, but theirs. They have told me it has all been sorted so I hope so. The reason I chose this company was that I wanted to stay at a particular hotel in Turkey where I stayed last year and it wasn't in the brochure this year. I am worrying a little though as I have tried to contact the hotel direct and the number has been unobtainable and I have received no reply to my emails, but Sunshine assure me that all is well!!! I just can hope and pray they are right.

No they operate the same way as most operators do nowadays. You need to log into your account and print the tickets (called vouchers) off
Report this content Lals45 Written on: 25/04/2014
No. They don't send tickets in the post. They send an email to the email address you provided, giving details on how to login to your sunshine account (which you'll register when you buy your holiday) and from there you'll print what they call you vouchers - essentially a paper version of an e-ticket. Present this to your hotel on arrival and enjoy! My hotel immediately recognised sunshine and I had no problems at all.

Hi, Sunshine do not send tickets. If you log into your account, you should have links where you click on and print out all your tickets / vouchers. I had a link for flight tickets, accomodation and also airport car parking. I think they are available to print as soon as the holiday is paid in full.
Report this content Sunnychap Written on: 25/04/2014

Report this content twride Written on: 25/04/2014
Sunshine do everything on-line. Once you've registered with Sunshine you will be given your login details. As and when you pay for your holiday different vouchers become available on the on-line system. You will need to download and print off these vouchers and take them with you on holiday. For example if you've booked a flight Sunshine will upload flight vouchers, if you've booked a hotel they will upload hotel vouchers, likewise for transfers along with your ATOL certificate. All your vouchers will be on the on-line system once you're fully paid up. Every once in a while you may get an email advising you that you have new vouchers. These will normally be updated ones to replace those already on the system. Even your flight will be verified with these vouchers. You need to take this to the check-in desk on arrival at your airport for your boarding cards to be issued. Or you can, using the details Sunshine give you on the flight voucher, login to the airline website and check-in on-line if that facility exists for your airline. In this case you'll be able to print off your boarding cards before you go. Make sure you have all your vouchers before you go on holiday and take them all with you. Hope this helps.

No they don't you have to log into your account and print them off yourself then just show the print outs when they are needed at the different points of your trip eg, when checking in at the airport, when checking into your hotel......................IT'S VERY SIMPLE and stress free. Enjoy your holiday.

Apologies for the late reply. They do not send tickets out. You need to print them from your account area. We had no problems with this.
