“Good company, poor shed !”

★★★☆☆

written by Miller495 on 30/09/2016

Cant fault delivery time and communication from garden buildings direct, however the shed (12x10 bily oh 30) although a good price the quality is poor so many knots on wood including the roof supports in which 2 snapped at the knot points, i had to do alot of basterdising to make good a poor build quality at manufacturing stage if thos company wants to be recommended and successful they need to ensure good quality is being sold else there reputation will be knocked.... Oh and i ordered premium T&G floor this eas poor too notching premium about it should have just had the solid sheet floor.

“great summer house, daugher loves it pain to put together”

★★★☆☆

written by 297Peterson on 14/05/2016

This looks lovely when finished however not easy to assemble and dad is a roofer!needed to buy new felt as one supplied was like paper and a good few gaps in door and window frames so needsd to buy a few extra bits to improvise. Looks fab though and when finished it a great addition to the garden and our daughter adores it and at the end of the day thats who it was for. If you willing to put in a bit of extra work and and a few additional bits and handy with a hammer- go for it

“Average quality. Very average customer service.”

★★★☆☆

written by Kyler287 on 10/05/2016

Good delivery. Very efficient driver. Garden shed was fairly easy to assemble until the end where it was obvious that the doors had been designed wrongly. Large gap between them. Tried many times to explain this to their 'Customer Service' but every time got the 'we're really gutted that you're not happy with our product'. They all promised to sort out the problem but did nothing. Got fed up with the same response. They kept asking me for photographs, which I sent. Kept sending me the same instructions that I'd followed to the letter. They are obviously just trained to fob you off. I eventually gave up. If I could be bothered I'd sue them as the product was not fit for purpose. If you're reading this .... YOU'RE DESIGN IS WRONG !

Nice product but could have been better. The overall design and look of the summer house is very good, but the construction could be stronger.

“20ft *10 ft premier Woodshed- Could be better :{”

★★★☆☆

written by Gilliam154 on 18/03/2016

The premier wood shed (20*10) arrived and was carefully unloaded by the helpful delivery team. However upon building of the shed we found that the panels broke easily and some were warped, especially the roof panels. The majority of the panels needed to be adjusted to get them to fit correctly It took us longer to erect due to this as we had to keep trying to match up panels that went together with the minimal of gaps. Instructions could be better and in a plastic envelope when handed over, otherwise if in our case it was delivered in the wet, they needed drying out first. The wood may be Tongue and groove but I suppose you get what you pay for. The Roof felting is basic and not easy to put up, creases & Tears very easily. A good level of DIY skills are needed and patience. We now have a very large shed which would have cost a lot more from other sites and with a bit of patience and DIY skills as well as a lot of wood glue and Filler looks just as we wanted it to.

“Some good points and some not so good”

★★★☆☆

written by Jenkinsonbug on 17/03/2016

The website and order processing and communication side of things are all excellent. The delivery driver was on time and helpful but did take a lot of photographs as he unloaded which seemed a bit odd. However, even on the basis that this is a low cost shed, there were some qualty issues. Some of the panels were badly put together, such as nails that had missed the corresponding part that they should have gone into, the top board of one of the rear apex panels had spit and was missing, one of the front apex panels at the top fell apart when i picked it up to build the shed. The shed floor has a gap because some of the boards were not placed correctly in the panel before nailing together at the factory. All of these issues were easy to sort out but should have been picked up before despatch. The finished shed is fine for the amount it cost.

“OK, not great”

★★★☆☆

written by Alexat1958 on 10/03/2016

A fairly heavy small pent shed delivered by a single driver (not built to lift something so heavy out of the van). Roofing felt was ripped as it was flapping about loose and the bottom of two panels had been ripped away by the nails - I'm guessing during loading or unloading. I had to rebuild the panels before I could construct the shed. Result was a fairly flimsy unsubstantial small bent billyoh shed that a small child would be able to break their own way into. We've decided not to put a padlock on as it may send out signals that somethings worth taking inside - which would take just moments to do, locked or not, because the wood is so flimsy. Recommend garden buildings? - probably. Recommend billyoh pent shed - absolutely NOT!

“Nice design, but finish was poor”

★★★☆☆

written by Beach297 on 03/03/2016

Items delivered Ok and driver very helpful but instructions to check off that all was present were not good. None of the item descriptions matched the delivery note. Luckily when built a few days later all was present. The instructions were Ok but took some interpretation and not written using good English. Some of the images were also poor. The big issue is that I paid more (I feel) for a tongue and groove finish, but some of the gaps between the slats are gaping either were they have not been pushed together properly or where an edge of bark has made the timber deviate. As a result there are a lot of holes and gaps for wind and rain to ingress. The design looks good though, just let down by poor quality in a couple of places.

written by Kirkpatrickjg112 on 26/02/2016

I was thrilled when it was erected, but when I went inside I could see daylight through several knot holes in the two back side panels, and through some of the joints between the tongue and groove pieces. It looks good overall but the quality of the good could be better.

“Good product but poor instructions to build it”

★★★☆☆

written by Jaidaf480 on 21/02/2016

Good product, looks sturdy and not getting wet inside from the rain. Doesn't come with a lock mechanism. Very very poor instructions for building it - parts labelled with letters on the instruction sheet, but not on the part themselves. Also, certain parts weren't the right length, making you think you've made a mistake somewhere along the way, when you actually need to cut the part to the right size. Building could be made much simpler for customers

“Poor quality summerhouse”

★★★☆☆

written by Stumpy543 on 19/02/2016

Full panels are of reasonable quality. Side windows, front windows & doors are of poor quality timber & of poor assembly.i have had to dress & fill several sections on windows. Beading has had to be replaced because it was either broken due to alot of knots in wood or so badly bowed. Both doors had nails sticking out which I have dressed or replaced. Not returned due to son in his eagerness to help starting to paint some of panels. Not assembled yet due to bad weather but cannot believe that this unit will not leak due to poor quality. Lets just hope I am wrong.

“Devon Log Cabin”

★★★☆☆

written by leYoung1994 on 04/02/2016

Ordered a BillyOh log cabin for my wife as a craft room. Ordering and delivery were easy and straightforward. Quality is average but door and window frames are total rubbish. Instructions are very poor but good video on youtube and all screw tacks and nails just thrown in 1 plastic bag. Once erected a couple of obvious flaws which we had to modify. However after first heavy rainfall it leaked loke sieve on corner joints and through knots.Customer services offered advise fill everything with silicone or they would send me new boards. That would mean dismantling the building to replace boards including the roof. Given up on them now as they obviously have no intention of doing anything we'll sort it ourselves. Not sure I'd use them again probably pay a bit more for a better quality building. We are basically happy but dissapointed with the company service.

“Billyoh 5000 workmans hut”

★★★☆☆

written by Emma97dog on 28/01/2016

The design of this hut is just what I wanted and generally is a good item . However there are a couple of issues with the strength of the hut. The eves require strengthening considerably, I added 2 X1 " battens vertically, inside and outside and it made a huge difference to the stability of the hut. I also added another batten inside horizontally which made the hut very secure. I was a bit disappointed with the felt provided which as soon as I started unrolling it, it started to tear , so be very careful when unrolling and fitting the felt ( I bought the higher price felt). The next thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the strength of the floor, I have again added more stability to the item by fitting 3/4" outdoor ply, again I paid for the stronger floor. So in conclusion, I do like the shed but thought for the money I paid it would be of stronger construction than it was .

“6x8 wooden shed”

★★★☆☆

written by CharlesDymoke on 10/12/2015

I thought that I had asked for shelving. Maybe not but if I did, it wasn't delivered. The wood and construction was a little more flimsy that I had anticipated but I guess you "pay for what you get". Tacks for the roof were too small but perhaps that is because the wood for the roof was too thin. I think this may have been a false economy.

“Product is good but the delivery service was poor.”

★★★☆☆

written by 359Kehoe on 03/12/2015

I'm happy with the shed purchased and assembling it was pretty straight forward with the instructions. However, the shed was due to be delivered between 8 and 11 am but was left on the drive around 6 in the morning and the delivery men did not knock on the door. The parts blocked the car and I had to move them into the garden! Your receptionist was most unhelpful!

Prompt delivery. Workmanship not very good for cost, some nails missed the wood. Manual ok although not completely relevant to shed received.

I think it depends what you've ordered and whether you need any after-sales service. It seems the simpler the job the less likely there is to be a problem. We ordered a large summerhouse and had a terrible experience. Firstly the wrong lengths of wall were delivered. We asked for a new delivery but they re-supplied only the parts that had been incorrect. This took so long that the originally correct parts warped and were unusable. It then took a similar time to convince them to re-send a new building. They even asked for all the old wood to be returned then sent a van too short to carry most of it. We ordered in March and only finally completed the summerhouse in October. It's difficult to find the right person (if anyone) to talk to and there seem to be three different companies involved; the manufacturer ('Kybotech'), the seller ('GardenBuildingsDirect') and the delivery firm (who, conversely, were excellent). They are substantially cheaper than most other manufacturers and the summerhouse itself (although not perfect as you might expect for the price; you will want a good firm to build it for you) is decent enough. Personally I would, if you're within the required period, cancel and go to one of the larger, reputable companies that have real UK offices / showgrounds (e.g.. Burtenshaw). The extra you spend will be worth it for reliability and service.

Hi Valeriesandy, You may be one of the lucky customers who didn't have problems but unfortunately we did. What are you worried about and how long ago you did you place the order because we had delays with the delivery and something didn't sit right with the wait beforehand... Not sure if you read my review about this company, but my partner and I have never experienced such shoddy service nor goods and I battled with the company with the help of my credit card company to get a refund while we waited for them to collect the log cabin. I have photographic evidence of all the curved planks and log cabin in its final stages which was assembled by two experts who agreed the shoddy materials were appalling. If you ordered by credit card, I'd suggest contact them asap and tell them of your dilemma as they protect you under the Consumer Act to get you a refund should you have a problem. Hope that helps?

Hope your one of the lucky ones, make sure you get the right shed when it's delivered as I was delivered the wrong shed the first time. Also check all pieces are their to build it as soon as you can, this can really hold you up with bits missing. I have the Tongue & Groove Shed & tbh the quality isn't all that. It's very flimsy & weak & doesn't fit on the top quality base floor (well that's what they called it). Make sure you purchase a couple of tubes of translusant silicone to put between the panels to keep it water tight! Also my doors don't meet by 10-20mm & had to buy a pink of wood to cover it. I'm sorry I can't recommend these sheds to anybody. Good Luck

It depends on the quality level you're expecting, I ordered a Billy Oh Licoln 4000 shed (16x10) and the quality was nowhere near what I was expecting - structurally seems quite flimsy and as for the roof and felt - 8mm chipboard and basic level felt - think it'll need re-roofing in 18-24 months!

I don't think so, it's more of an inconvenience really, because if you start putting the thing together and find out you're an item short, the job stops ! However, in my case I was quite lucky, I was able to fabricate the missing part myself (that was where the videos provided by gardenbuildingsdirect on the website were usefull. I would say at this point that if I'd had to fabricate the missing item from the instructions, I wouldn't have managed. (In other words... the videos are better than the instructions). I think 'should I be worried ?' is a tough question to answer accurately; I would say that the bits fit together quite well and if you've watched the videos, erecting the thing is quite intuitive, so if you are fairly competent at DIY, you won't have a problem, in fabricating any missing bits (if there are any of course. if on the other hand you don't know the differrence between a chisel and a screwdriver you'll find it difficult. 2 tips : Firstly : the screws and stuff are pretty low quality - I used screws and stuff from my own stock. Secondly : I used an impact screwdriver to erect the shed - far easier than drilling and screwing but of course not everyone is fortunate enough to own one In summary - don't panic, just take time out to arrange all the pieces on a lawn / flat surface and check everything is there before you start; after that.... take your time ! Would I but from this company again ? - absolutely !
