Brilliant prices, brilliant communication, brilliant service! I wish all transactions, online or off, could be as smooth. Like other reviewers, I was a bit apprehensive using the direct payment method to save 3%, but you are offered the choice to pay by other means, so it's not a "take it, or leave it" decision. I recently ordered a Canon lens from this site, and payment was very quick and easy using Google wallet. I received confirmation of my order from Google immediately, and from procamerashop soon after - my card wouldn't be debited until dispatch as well, which was handy as I've been stung by paying for discontinued items from other websites and then had to claim a refund at a later date - very annoying! You tend not to get much hassle buying from any Hong Kong seller, it's if you need after-sales service when you find out how good (or not) they are, if there are any issues.
Also check out p-shops T&C's - terms of use. They point out in capital letters the buyers/importers responsibilities re taxes, import duty.

Obviously price is a major factor, but other Asian suppliers can be cheaper, or have better customer service reviews. The vast majority of negative reviews of this Hong Kong supplier get removed from here and other forums because they threaten legal action.
Just reading their OTT reviews isn't really giving anyone the true story, balanced opinions nor the benefit of reading about issues from unhappy buyers.

You were a little uneasy about using bank transfer payment, intstead of the usual way of using a credit card, but still risked it for 3% ?
They do not ship from Carlisle, this is just a rented office/phoneline for ordering.
You say they don't hide the fact they're Hong Kong suppliers, but unless you ask about grey imports, or where they're based, they are not clear and upfront on their site.
co.uk lol
You're correct that serial numbers can be a serious issue, there have been faked/forged numbers on grey imports from Asia, together with items being supplied that are not actually new.
Exif data needs checking, but before that ring Canon uk & try to register the camera, they will then tell you if it's legit. (don't use the online service, as any random numbers can be put in)
Check out their terms of use. They spell out your responibility as the importer. Chances of getting caught maybe slim, but if required to pay any duty/VAT by HMRC, they will not reimburse you.
Ask for a VAT receipt with any purchase & see if you get one.
This seller bullies & threatens legal action to sites & forums to get negative reviews/comments removed, so again, imho they are nowhere near upfront & clear with people & searching them out you don't get a fair view..
Written on: 07/05/2013
I was fine with it because other people I know have used the bank transfer service with no issues, so yes, decided to take their successes ( on much more expensive equipment too) as a sign it was reliable. I would also suggest to people to use credit card for peace of mind unless they're sure - I definitely wouldn't have done it off the reviews alone.
Sorry, I just checked UPS and perhaps you're partially right, it was shipped from a UK warehouse, starting point Crawley, not Carlisle, according to the UPS tracking log. Obviously it was shipped from Hong Kong to hired warehouse space (I presume an automated place) but the import part was already completed and the camera stocked within the UK, so there was no risk at all of having to pay additional customs fees and tax. Perhaps your order was direct from Hong Kong for whatever reason (low stock or something?) but mine was 100% definitely shipped from a UK address.
Ringing Canon UK to validate my serial is pointless because it's quite obviously Canon HK stock and obviously I can't register it for the sake of the UK warranty. I'm not sure why you'd even advise that other than scaremongering to be honest.
If you order from here, like any Hong Kong based company, then of course you can't expect a VAT recipt. I believe they put the duty/vat information on the site to cover their backs, but, as I and many other people have said it's shipped from within the UK - the import stage has been completed already so the chances of having to pay it are minimal (usually nil).
People who order from them know (at least they should, it's hardly hidden, talked about in most reviews and they'll tell you themselves incase the considerably lower prices aren't suspicious) that you're buying import items originating from HK. If that's not for you, then obviously don't use them. The way I see it, it's the same camera for a lot less money, which for me was worth it.
For the record, while I mostly believe you're just a customer who's had bad luck with an item, you do seem to find the time to comment on every single positive review and it honestly does seem suspiciously like you're working on behalf of a rival company or something. I don't really believe a previous customer would find so much time to slate the website so much.
Written on: 07/05/2013
The reason for ringing Canon uk, is to verify the serial numbers are not fake.
Why can you not get a VAT receipt from a company trading in the UK?
You are probably correct when you say they are `covering their backs`, because you are liable to pay duty/taxes if required/caught, even though, again as you say, the chances are minimal.
For the record, I do not comment on every single review, nor am I connected with anyone, either in this country or abroad.
Being retired & having the time to possibly help others, is my only aim.
I do find it strange though, when some review posters take my posting facts, as somehow slandering themselves & reply to me using `stock` answers & questions?
Written on: 07/05/2013
"Why can you not get a VAT receipt from a company trading in the UK?"
Because, as both of us have already pointed out, they're a Hong Kong registered company, supplying goods of Hong Kong origin, not a UK one. If you import anything where VAT isn't paid you won't get a VAT receipt unless you paid VAT when it entered the country.
I don't believe that trying to register your camera with Canon UK to check it's genuine would really work as you wouldn't be able to register your warranty with the UK section anyway.

Many of their goods are `grey` imports & prices are similar to other Asian suppliers.
Warranties are only with them, rather than the usually much more comprehensive manufacturers warranties.
Try asking for a VAT receipt with you purchase. (which would satisfy HMRC)
Telephone Canon UK (not online, as any random numbers can be submitted) they'll check the serial numbers are real & tell you if it's new & also if it's a grey import, which they won't entertain under their manufacturers warranty.
To say this company is trustworthy, is a matter of opinion. They bully review sites like this & also photography forums, to get negative reviews & comments removed. I wouldn't trust anyone who need to use these tactics.

After much deliberation finally picked these guys to buy the camera from. I could have bought £100 cheaper on E-Bay but the deal didn't seem quite right basically because they would not accept returns !! - first time I've come across this and it was not acceptable. The price for this camera was still lower that other sites and the offer of 3% by bank transfer made the deal more attractive. I was somewhat dubious about the cash transfer as it was new to me and £1900 is a lot of cash to risk... (read more)

Paying anyone by bank transfer should not be recommended, but certainly not to a Hong Kong supplier. (they are based in Kowloon & NOT the uk)
Most manufacturers won't touch a `grey` import if there are any issues.
p-shop only give you a 1yr warranty which is with them & usually inferior to the manufacturer's which can be 3yrs+
btw, In your review there are quite a few stock-phrases, which are used in other `reviews` which crop up in many many times. Hmmm

I agree with your advice about transfers abtroard but I am referring to this company only, as regards your comments about 'stock phrases' I have stated EXACTLY my personal feelings regarding this transaction - If you don't like what i've i've writteh as a true account of my personal transaction witht his company just keep your comments to yourself and try to understand that all people are not as cynical as yourself .

You agree about not paying by direct bank transfers abroad? .... but p-shop ARE abroad. They are in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Don't be fooled by the co.uk They have a rented phone line & office in Cumbria.
The problem is, lots of people ONLY read the positive comments because the negative reviews get taken down!
If you don't like the facts I am posting, to possibly help others, ignore them.

I bought a Nikon telephoto lens from the Pro Camera Shop and was impressed by the brilliant service and the fact that I was informed of the progress of my order at each stage. The goods arrived in perfect condition just 3 days after placing the order. The price that I paid was substantially less than other suppliers and I would definitely recommend this supplier.Thank you. They are only £2 cheaper (not subtantial at all) than other Hong Kong suppliers who have a good reputation & customer service.
Ignore the .co.uk they are based in Kowloon.
You need to do your homework before deciding to make a purchase.
Written on: 03/05/2013
I am well aware that they are based in Hong Kong - it says so on their website!! I am also aware that there were other Hong Kong sellers selling this item for £2 more. So what! I chose to use this supplier and got good service. I really don't, know what your problem is.
Written on: 03/05/2013
You said it was `substantially` less from them, when it wasn't.
It also says on their website (IN CAPITAL LETTERS) that purchasers are liable to pay any import duty/taxes due, if required!
The savings made are the difference between buying from a genuine UK business, who pays their taxes & employ people in this country & add to our economy+ their 1yr warranty is inferior to the manufacturers.
My problem?
To start with, they hide behind the co.uk when they are based in Hong Kong
They are suppliers of grey imports.
They push their `save 3% scheme` which takes away purchasersprotection against any issues.
Their `warehouse` is an international handling logistics service
They spam review sites with OTT reviews.
They threaten legal action to get negative reviews from sites & forums removed.
A few more, but i'll stick to facts then this won't get removed..

Oh dear - you do have a problem! Let me try and address some of your points:-
1) You need to credit people with some intelligence. I have read their website before I made a purchase. It tells you that they are based in Kowloon and that goods are despatched from Cumbria. I am aware of the comment regarding import duties etc but as fas as I know there are no import duties between Cumbria and the rest of the UK!!
2) So they use a logistics company. So what. Many UK companies do exactly the same because it is cheaper for them rather than have their own warehouse. This is the way of the modern world.
3) Of course it is a grey import at the price they are charging. Who really cares. It probably came out of the same factory as goods sold in the UK.
4) As far as taxes are concerned VAT was payable.
5)It is not my concern that the UK cannot compete with the rest of the world in some areas. We live in a global economy whether you like it or not and consumers and companies will source their products from the market with the lowest price.
I think that you really need to get a grip with the modern world and stop harassing me.
Written on: 04/05/2013
lol Goods are NOT despatched from Cumbria!
Why do they cover themselves on their site by clearly stating in CAPITAL letters, the purchasers/importers obligation to pay any duty'VAT to HMRC if required?
You say you are inteligent,t but are not aware of many facts?
I am in no way harassing you (unless you ARE p-shop) just pointing out a few facts & possible issues.
Other potential purchasers read the reviews/comments, that's why you posted isn't it.
Also, a few of your points & the way they are made, seem the same as many other `stock-replies` on here & other forums. Hmmm
Any `company` that threatens legal action to get negative reviews removed from sites & forums isn't really being honest is it.. .

Just a brief note of bulletin points.I was recommended Pro Camera Shop by an associate who only knew of their good prices, but had not used them.My product was approx 20% cheaper than I could find it on the internet,if I paid bt bank transfer I would receive an additional 3% discount......so I places my order.Overnight I received the info confirming my order and how to proceed with the transfer, upon completion I received a email confirming receipt and that the warehouse would contact me.Next... Paying by bank transfer is not a recommended way to pay anyone, let alone a Hong Kong supplier, you should always use a credit card for protection.
Their `warehouse` is a national handling/distributiondepot & their office/sales is just a rented space in a comercial building in Cumbria.
They sell mainly grey imports, just the same as digitalreview, but not as up front about everything. They also bully sites to get negative reviews removed.

I have been looking for a silver Fuji x20 for a few weeks now, after I exhausted all local camera shops( within 35 miles ) then contacted Procamerashop. Their service and delivery were first class, I was able to track the delivery from leaving the shop to the house via the UPS delivery tracker, which was reassuring. I would recommend them to any one looking to purchase a camera. (read more)

Strange decision to buy from a Hong Kong supplier, when you could have got it from the UK for the same price? (Mathers for example)

Very easy ordering and all the team very obliging and helpful. Delivery times are brilliant and can arrange alternative dates if required. Nothing is too much bother. Packaging excellent. The after sales is also very good and emails replied to by return. Would recommend to all. Prices very competitive. I can't think of anything I didn't like. Thank you to all concerned. (read more)

It was a real treat to deal with Pro Camera Shop. The web site was easy to follow and the item purchased was extremely competitively priced. My questions were answered very quickly and efficiently in a friendly manner. Even though I suspect I was a bit of a nuisance I was treated in such a way that I felt I was an important customer and my concerns and potential problems mattered to them. Any customer is an important customer. If you're spending your hard-earned money with them, I think ALL Asian suppliers will be happy, it's usually when you need customer service, or warranty issues that sellers aren't so helpful.

I posted the review above and hope that the comment doesn't say what I think it says!
1. The inference is that Pro Camera Shop is an "Asian supplier". I have to say that I had no idea that this could be so. When talking to them on the telephone there was no trace of an accent and I had had no other indication elsewhere. This was a customer service issue and Pro Camera Shop responded very speedily in a very helpful and efficient manner.
2. I have knowingly dealt with many "Asian suppliers" on line, on the telephone, and face to face, and, without exception, all "customer service or warranty issues" have been resolved by them in an exemplary manner. Maybe if all suppliers acted in a similar way the commercial world would be a better place.
By the way, I am not Asian and have no Asian background. I am born and bred British; I just wish I could be proud of the fact!

They are based in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It's the co.uk that misleads people.
They only have a rented office & phone line in Cumbria & use a handling agent for the imports in Crawley. They sell mainly grey imports which affect the manufacturers warranties + other issues.
I & others have posted about them in the past, but they threaten legal action to get negative revies removed, both on here and on photography forum.
Agree, there are many reputable Asian suppliers.

With p-shop (a Hong Kong business & not UK) supplying mainly grey imports, the manufacturer won't touch the item if warranty work is needed & for an extra £20 it could have been bought from a genuine UK approved supplier.
