“Opus more like hopeless”

We had the misfortune to inherit Opus as our electric and gas supplier. Since being in our small shop we have had nothing but bills which unless you are smelting steel would be justified. When you phone them to ask for the reason for this you will be met by a level of incompetence that has really been seen or heard. The so called smart meters are always blamed and there is no help in resolving the matter. This has happened to my sister and i, our first bill after 9 weeks since opening is £420.10,???? what is going on i pay £78 every month for gas and electricity per bulb energy. I tried to speak to someone on the phone, but they are not interested. Im going to write to the ombudsman as we are not paying this amount.

OPUS, PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY, TOTAL RIP OFF MERCHANTS.

We are a small self-catering complex and recently switched to Opus for our electricity supply. We are beginning to have problems with them and I was surprised to find this site with so many negative reviews. I started this review headed ‘Amateur’ but now I am not so sure. I noticed that we are being charged VAT at 20% and VAT notice 701/19 clearly identifies self catering as one of the 5% exemptions. “Third Party company in India pretending to be from OPUS”

We have been with Opus for a few years now, at our business premises and never had a problem with them. Just this week we have been bombarded with calls from an Indian guy, who is being very disrespectful, arrogant and constantly calling (up to 8 times a day), trying to talk to me. I recently took over a business premises which was supplied by Opus. I signed up with them giving them my personal bank account details on the strict proviso no monies would be taken from it.( They insisted on having an account number). I would pay their invoices from my new business account as it was not yet open. I have been with Opus now for 5 years. I have always found them to be very good with their estimates and billing. When I have had to telephone them in relation to my account, I have always found them to be polite and helpful. I have had trouble with brokers telephoning myself lately, pretending to be Opus with inflated prices. I have found these brokers to be extremely pushy and deceitful. That is not Opus's fault. Iam SPEECHLESS.... this company is SHOCKING. Just counting the months till we can leave the contract. Why hasn't WATCH DOG investigated them yet? It's just a matter of time. Bills jump up each month with no explanation. The smart meter they suggested didn't work. just took on a new commercial lease of a property and opus were the exisiting suppliers. After just having the office for 4 week we had a call demanding an immediate card payment for an invoice that we never received. we were forced to make the payment and when we received the invoice it was for ridiculously high estimated charges. I had the misfortune of being contacted over the phone by an introducer who promised a very favourable tariff. However this was not the case and I did not check the letter. I was intimidated by a member of staff over the phone all I wanted was them to send me a final bill as I now switched companies. I am being harassed by this company. We closed down our shop on 25 May. Opus were informed prior to this and final readings given (twice). They say they never rec'd the final readings although they were entered online. They refuse to believe that the shop was closed between 25 May and 09 Sept when no electricity was used, and when the new tenants took over. Yes I agree with you about this company I'm forever getting demanding payment letters from this company I complained so many times to no avail I am going to seek and take legal action against opus for their bullying and intimidation antics. It's a criminal offence for any company to harrass a customer and threatened anyone this company should be shut down and made to go bankrupt. Their customer service is diabolical dreadful. I don't know why this company is allowed to get away with this behaviour and attitude

Having taken on a unit that had Opus Energy supply it I had no choice but to keep these for at least a month or 3 as I only took the unit for this period. Being an empty unit and only used for storage and daylight hours I used next to none electricity. Not according to Opus tho the bills were still high. I have been with Opus for several years, with smart meters now fitted at 4 sites. They are easy to contact and always helpful. I had an issue where Semens fitted a new smart meter and entered the reading wrongly for the old meter causing an extra £1200 on my bill, this was dealt with quickly and efficiently and the money returned.
