“Hidden excess charges!!!!”

I took out an insurance policy with octagon, with the excess being £250 voluntary and £100 compulsory, after having an accident I put a claim in and was shocked to be told my excess was £600!! Apparently if you are under 25 you have to pay an extra £250!!! My policy stated nothing of the sort and I was not told anything over the phone while taking out the policy! I have had a policy cancelled twice with this outfit, first time they claimed not to have received my proof of NCB even though it was emailed to them. Second time - I must have been idiotically stupid to even consider using them again - I moved house no more than a couple of miles down the road and being honest I told them about it, they cancelled it on me because "they don't cover that area" It has cost me probably £300 using these wronguns and I'm still at square one. Iwsh i had read all reviews on here before buying car insurance from these people.Very little corresponance from them ,didnt even know the name of breakdown company all i had was a phone number. To cap it all when i didnt want to renew i had to phone customer sevices on a premium number and guess what from start to finish over 6 minutes just to tell them i am not renewing,And apparently you have to ring the same number to get you no claims discount… Read Full Review

“Steer clear”

I went with octagon due to being the cheapest, all went well untill i changed my car, they said they could not insure an import model which my car is a Vauxhall Zafira. i chose to cancel the policy and requested my NCB for my new policy and they said they wont release it till the full years premium is paid. so now the new policy will either get cancelled or i will lose my NCB and have to start all over again. horrible company and horrible people on the phone too… Read Full Review

Do your mean your full annual premium? Or any outstanding balance owed after the policy was cancelled? If there was an outstanding balance owing then insurance companies are within their rights to withhold your NCB until that has been paid in full

Nope they stated on the phone they owed me £29 then started being pissy saying I had an accident in that year which I didn't! Now it's fully paid off they have sent all no claims bonus out so much for my accident ! What a w a n k company!

“Fraudulently renewed my policy”

Octagon initially lied on Money Supermarket to get my business. Massive up hill struggle to get through to a manager to explain the policy I was quoted and the policy they sold me were different. They eventually backed down and the amended policy ran for 12months. December 2014 rang them to cancel. Fortunately I also cancelled my direct debits. Despite what seems a reasonable quote, Octagon really get you when it comes to cancelling your policy and their costumer service is very poor! They have just charged me £154 to cancel my £350 policy! The policy was automatically renewed against my wishes and I eventually cancelled it after three weeks of , emails , letters and phone calls. Octagon is the worst company I ever been with. They destroyed my life. Every time you call they tell you different things. They policies are different then all UK insurance companies. To sort out anything with them takes hours of calls, transfers, being disconnected. I lost my 4 years no claim bonus because of them!!!! Completely disgusted at how I have been treated by the team at customer service, couldn't get to speak to anyone higher up the ladder, when 1 1/2 hours of discussing the issues were getting me nowhere. I have a few pointers - Read your terms and conditions before entering into a contract of any kind of insurance. If your asked to provide something don't leave it to the last minute. No one deserves to be spoken down to. Or to be name called. You'd be the first to complain if you were spoken to like that so dictating and name calling is unreasonable. Bought like a fool as they were the cheapest on a comparison website. Took deposit and stated they needed proof of no claims, sent this and received an email today telling me due to me not sending required info my insurance was cancelled. I had the same problem, it was disgusting!
First about no claims bonus because I didn't send it, then because I didn't pay my direct debit, I mean it's not like any of that was my fault was it
