“Beware of this cooker ”

Beware of this cooker
I went against my instincts and purchased a Hotpoint EW74K cooker.
Had this cooker for approx 6 months and the inner glass to the top oven/grill shattered shortly after use. I had used it 15 minutes previous for grilling and turned it off and shut the door.
All of a sudden the glass just shattered everywhere with nobody antwhere near it. Spoke to hotpoint as it was still under warranty and they were most unhelpfull and did not want to know, they just wanted to send an... (read more)

Hi,
My mothers oven door on her Hotpoint 6122B shattered yesterday and this is the second time it has happened. The first time luckily the children and my mum were sitting away from the oven at the table or they wouldve been hit by the exploding glass, yesterday the glass exploded whilst my mum was opening the oven door and has left her very shocked as she said it made a terrific noise, she had luckily put the door in a downward position when it happened otherwise she wouldve sustained facial and eye injuries which wouldve been v serious. I have just written to hotpoint to complain as this is the second time it has happened but I will take it further if they dont do something to sort this.

the exact same thing happened to our hoitpoint the bottom oven inner glass exploded during use and the same explanation from hotpoint after a 35 minute phone call being passed from section to another and after what i felt was blackmail i had to give in and buy a new inner glass door on my 8 month old hotpoint cooker as glass and plastic parts are not covered but if i bought a extended warrenty everything is covered never will i buy any hotpoint device again due to the very bad service
