I have had bank accounts for over 30 years and this is the easiest to use. It keeps me in control of my money and when I got into financial difficulties due to husband being out of work and my heart problem causing me to step down from my well paid job I needed that control. Setting up the account and direct debits is easy, I have found the online banking easy to use, paying cheques into Barclays no problem and transferring money from account to card is instant. If I have to ring the bank I... (read more)

Had the account for 9 months now. First class, the ease of transfer between card and current account is especially good. £12.50 per month is not a lot to pay for peace of mind in regard to direct debit management. Only criticism is that if a direct debit fails then there is no provision for it being presented again, as with most banks. You have to set up the whole thing again, not much of a hardship. I have only had one experience of the system being down in 9 months and that was only for... (read more)

I have this account and admits I'm not very good with money! So They have properly save me money by not having an overdraft, and makes it easier to control your money with the prepaid card! But you could do without the Monthly fee and Recently added a new feature where you fast transfer money Which is going to cost 40p a time let alone the 50p charge every time you withdraw cash! But the new service they just added to transfer money via text I thought was great and fast and really... (read more)

I love my STB account especially since they brought in the new service where you can transfer funds to your card by text message, it literally takes seconds. Using my card in high street stores earns me money every month. Always found customer services easy to deal with. (read more)

I have had an account with STB for around 6 months, and have been extremely happy with all aspects of their service. I have no problem in transferring funds from my current account to my card, as I feel this gives me more control over my funds. Unlike major High Street Banks, I had no problem in using my card in Asia, which was a refreshing change from previous experiences I suffered on the hand of other banks, who seem to take joy in stopping your card at their slightest whim, causing you... Just pure rubbish I agree with all the negative comments. When the systems are down you are stranded. Paying in cheques and Cash take forever to clear and we are in the year 2012!!!!!. All you get is "we are not a clearing bank"!! All this rubbish about having to put money from your account to your card is a joke especially when you havent the time to do it or your stuck. No staff work at times when you need them. They should be 24/7. The bank statements are soooooooo confusing as you are... (read more)

I was recommended this bank by my financial management company. I found the process fairly simple To change my direct debit's etc. My first issue is I have twice had to pay in a cheque which is done thru Barclays. The staff didn't have a clue Who this bank was or what to do. I wasn't impressed. Customer services said that perhaps the Barclays staff Need training. Not half. Very worrying. Secondly I had to pay a deposit and 6 weeks rent on a new flat. The agent Insisted on charging me a... (read more)

I've had my account for just over 4 months and I feel like I have a some control of my money. I admit I was a bit rubbish at balancing everything paying sometimes over £50 a month on debit charges but now I pay £12.50 a month and no charges. I also like that they are a bank, seems there are a few people out there offering the same service, but I feel I have more opportunity to move forward with this account. Yes you do have to move money from your account to the MasterCard but it really... (read more)

I have banked with STB for 11 months and in that time have found their system down on 6 occassions! Today was the seventh. And I'm sooo angry I need to let you know about it! This effectivly means that you find yourself without cash as your 'pre paid card' is not accepted either at cash points or in stores. Customer services blame mastercard for the error. I had a mastercard for 30 years and never had an issue. This is blatent abuse of their customers who run their accounts in keeping with... (read more)

Before I had my Secure Trust Bank Current Account I was getting ridiculous charges from Barclays for going overdrawn by just pennies or for unpaid Direct debits. Moving to Secure Trust Bnk was the best thing I could have done. Knowing that I only pay £12.50 rather than upwards of £100 with Barclays is a relief. And with this account you get money back when you spend in loads of high street shops, some months I've had more money back from this than I pay for the account each month. I would... (read more)

I have an account with Secure Trust for my sins and quite frankly - and - considering I have to pay £12.50 a month, they are pretty much useless on the customer service side. My mother died nearly a month ago and was cremated a fortnight back. I closed all her accounts and received a payment from her insurers at the end of June. I then emailed Secure Trust requesting paying in slips as they only ever send you a few initially. I thought they would arrive pretty quickly (5/7 days) but they... (read more)

It seems like a great idea - a bank where you know exactly where you stand. And it should be worth paying for a transparent service, with none of the usual banking traps, laid to pull you inadvertently into 'unauthorised' borrowing. It all seems very reasonable, until you find out the truth. First thing to realise is that everything happens painfully slowly. Funds are processed at an absolutely glacial pace. Cheques will suddenly clear that I forgot I'd even paid in, it happened so long... (read more)

I am with them. Have been for three years. In that time I only had two problems. One where it charged me twice for withdrawal and I ended up £-777 withdrawn. They corrected this the same day and the second was I went to take £50 out of my account, knowing full well it was in there. When it come to the money wasn't in there. They tried saying I'd taken the £50 but I knew full well I hadn't. Eventually they refunded me including £20 goodwill. I'm quite happy with them. I also wish I had a normal bank account as I hate paying a 50p charge for withdrawal. But it keeps me in the black and stops me from been overdrawn.
