Good Points: Wife wanted simple-to-use camera in 2003 & my Fuji Finepix 480 was too complex for her to share. It was fine producing acceptable pics for a 2 meg pix camera even ran from 2.2 volt via NI-MH rechargeable AA batt's

Bad Points: Failed on vacation in Devon UK, August 2006. We thought the NI-MH bat's were faulty/discharged-not even after recharging batts via 12v -240v (12v dc to 240v ac)inverter running charger as if on mains power at home was no good. Wife took just 1 image in 11 days! Back home in Essex UK, found problem with slide switch, it simply will not stay turned on even if powered by small 240 v to 3v or 4.5 v mains converter. I found that applying direct pressure via finger & thumb next to slide switch keeps item powered up but it takes all my strength as a male, so what chance does my wife have? I wish we had seen some of the very excellent reviews posted back in 2002 before purchasing this product from users describing the very same fault. So we have been lucky to get 3 years use from this product wow! it cost £170 new so 170/3 =56.66666>£'s a year (over a £1.0 per week) not a good return if compared with IT products that usually get upgraded long before they fail and most will still be working 10 years later.

General comments: We believed that by Kodak EasyShare CX4230's simplicity, little could go wrong and with such a well respected name behind the product, why should we have expected any thing else?
The Fuji Finepix 480 purchased 9 months prior to the Kodak is still going strong yet has seen much more use since purchase; has more to go wrong but is now complimented by a Canon EOS 350D. Seems I will have to teach my wife to use both in AUTO mode & not to worry about the bells & whistles on each of them compared to her failed camera. So we will keep the memory chip which just happens to fit some other makes of camera, making sure that when we are able we never by Kodak again.

My first venture into the digital camera world after 30+ years of SLR and 35mm films...
For my PC use, the Kodak EasyShare is just what I needed for ease of downloading - saves hoarding all those prints in cupboard drawers now... and transfering is so easy to do now....
I'm very impressed with the picture quality for what is essentially a basic digital camera in today's marketplace... 2 megapixels is nothing but it's not that bad at all!!!
Buying on eBay saved me a fortune, in fact I bought h ...

The Kodak EasyShare CX4230 camera works when you can get a battery to stay charged long enough to enjoy taking pictures.

The Kodak CX4230 Digital Camera produces adequate photos, but setting it up is a long-winded process. Settings such as self-timer have to re-input for each shot. Downloading via USB is extremely easy with supplied software - makes expensive docking station pointless. Very fussy on batteries - doesn't like many re-chargeable ones - standard CRV3 battery expensive but lasts reasonably well. Takes standard expansion cards which are necessary as internal memory limited.

This was my first digital camera. At the beginning the Kodak CX4230 worked fine except outside in cold weather where it did not work at all. Then as it was nearing the end of it's warranty period it began to shut off or would not turn on while I tried to take pictures. The lens cover would not close properly cuasing the camera to not shut down properly thereby wearing down the batteries. When I contacted Kodak for repair information they got the information to me so late the camera was out ...

I have found the Kodak CX4230 to produce excellent photographs and have been very happy with the quality. I purchased rechargeable batteries for US$20 that work great. (Price included charger & eight batteries.) It was very easy to learn to use and I have no problem with the speed with which it takes pictures, though it is somewhat slow. Be vary if you have Windows ME operating system. The camera software slows the system terribly. My solution was adding it to another computer with Windows ...

My Kodak EasyShare cx4230 takes great pictures. It is very easy to share pictures to computer and to email. Camera has a nice attractive body.
The camera shuts off almost constantly while using it though. I thought it was the battery, but I purchased a new Ni Mh battery pack designed for the camera and it still shuts off. It is in the shop now getting repaired. (still under warranty). Camera started doing this shut down thing when it was only 3 months old.

After the searching the internet for a new camera and seeing excellent reviews for the Kodak Easyshare CX4230, I took the plunge and ordered one from Comet Direct (Offer price £149.00).
On trying out the camera, I'm afraid to say I think the reviewers must have been using a different model.
I found it very difficult to get a clear photo, although the reviews stated that the CX4230 took beautiful clear crisp shots.
The focus and exposure would not always lock (orange light kept blinking ...
