I live in a tenement where they manage another flat. They seem to rent out the flat pretty consistently to junkies. They refuse to uplift furniture dumped from the flat. They do not pay communal repair fees. This is an agency designed to allow slum landlords to profit. if Goodearl manage a property in your building - I would advise you to leave.

I would never recommend this company to anyone, owner or tenant. Being unpleasant to deal with is the least of it. They lie, are negligent and would agree to sell their granny if it meant you taking a flat, then they forget about you. They made promises to repair the flat that i rented and once i was in, resorted to ignoring my calls and emails. I was paying 800 a month for a flat with holes in the walls, cracked floors and flooding. When i asked for a spare set of keys, they acted ridiculously defensively, claiming that only one set of keys per person on the lease (i'm a 38 year old professional btw). Months after i'd left, they asked me for 120 pounds for "cleaning" an already thoroughly cleaned flat. All this despite agreeing that it wasn't required as it was filthy when i moved in. When I refused, they DOUBLED their claim to 240 pounds through LPSS. Says it all really. Avoid if you care about your property and/or your sanity.

My kids were both studying in Glasgow and decided to share a flat for the last year. We'd not had much luck finding a suitable place in the area and when the Goodearl flat came up we liked it but were apprehensive after reading the online reviews. We are no strangers to letting agents who refuse to carry out essential repairs but had no time to look further. As it turned out, the staff at Goodearl were easily contactable when there was any problem and followed through when action was needed. Always very professional and polite to us parents and also treating the kids with respect. Repairs to a leaky roof and broken shower were quickly attended to . Don't know what happened in the past but if you're considering Goodearl, they could show other letting agents a thing or two about customer service.

I have rented with Goodearl for 1 year now and I must say I am very happy and have found the staff very helpful. Would recommend to anyone.

I would 100 % recommened no one use this letting agent, they are the most unprofessional, incompetent company I have ever came across. Not only do they let strangers in your house when you have both signed a contract to say 24 hours notice must be given before any contractors or viewings are arranged, they leave the keys with 3rd parties for 3 weeks so they can access the property any time they want without anyone knowing. If you do decide to rent with this company, I sincerley hope you have no faults or repairs that need fixed, I moved in to a property with a freezer than had a cracked drawer with sharp dangerous bits of plastic sticking out which they only agreed to fix when my partner cut himself on it and we threatened to take them to a small claims court. The girls in the office will continuley ignore your emails when there is a problem with what you are paying good money for. I recommend finding a better rated, more professional company to use.

I rented a property from them for 6 months in knightswood I took the flat as I needed to be beside my ill mum ASAP the flat was supposed to be a 3 bedroom the third bedroom had an old piano dining table and other bits that took up at least half the room which were under no circumstances to be moved , upon seeing the flat my brother who thankfully is a painter and decorator was appalled at state of it and fact I was paying £575 per month for it he completely re decorated the flat from top to bottom along with a workmates at his own expense my father then carpeted the whole house which cost just under £1000 as there was no carpets in house bare floor boards I had 2 small children I feel this company took full advantage if my situation I basically brought one of their run down properties up to a decent standard paid bills in time presented them with all this 6 months later when if had enough and moved out 3 years later I'm still waiting on my deposit back ! Sorry for long rant but please avoid this company at all costs wish I had .

Wish their was a -1,star for truly awful, how the hell they are still in business is unbelievable, they have DHS tenants on their books who play guitars after 10pm & before 9am sometimes in the flat above me, make her close untidy with all the bikes , close stinks of cigarette smoke due to their tenant, complaints have been made & they don't care, it's all about collecting their money, vile to deal with,, think they are smart arses on the phone, hope they are one company that's goes bust in 2014.

when you consider it's not their property they act as though they own the place. Could not recommend this agency.

How this company is still trading I will never know, the most unhelpful company I have complained about their tenants in.our Close & they are not interested in trying to resolve any issues, even when the tenant threatened me, the tenant is still here. Never ever ever use this company.

Firstly we were charged around £300 for cleaning, despite the flat being clean when we left. When we moved in there was a hole in the wall (we were told this would be fixed prior to moving in) 1 and 1/2 years later it was still not fixed. deposit was transferred to wrong person. accounts were terrible to deal with not providing accurate information. when giving our notice to leave and people coming to view flat they ignored our time availability and often turning up with no notice.

Dealing with letting agents can be stressful but this can be easily solved with a bit of common courtesy and people skills, which Goodearl seemed to lack. Found the staff friendly and helpful at the start of the lease and fortunatley didn't have many dealings with them, up untill some problems needed fixed. Communication between the landlord, the agency and the company sent to deal with the problems seemed to be non-existent. This meant having to chase them up every step of the way untill it was finally sorted. This soured the relationship with them. Quarterly inspections were also carried out which seemed a bit excessive but seems to be the way of it with many other agencies. When it came time to leave the property, a letter stated it wasn't a problem to request to be present at viewings and that adequate notice would always be given. People showed up with an agent for viewings unannounced a few times, despite having had requested notification and them being aware of contact details etc. This was a horrible experience and constantly repeating contact details (which they have on file) just added to the stress. Very difficult to feel as though a property you are paying for is yours when you feel they could potentially come in any time they liked. Having an agency breathing down your neck if you're a busy person is a big inconvenience. Can't say they're a bad bunch of people but business definitely took priority over basic communication and consideration. The deposit wasn't a problem but I'd strongly reccommend taking photos before you settle in to avoid any issues with ANY agency when it comes time to leave.

I happened to stumble across this page and couldn't help put my two pennies worth in. GOODEARL PROPERTIES ARE THE LAZIEST AND MOST INCOMPETENT LETTING AGENT I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO USE!!! I can only guess that the reviewers that have given the company 5 stars must have been the few to receive their full attention - or maybe employees. The staff are rude, never call you back they don't carry out property inspections to the detriment of landlords and tenants and they don't even have a basic understanding of the law that covers rental properties in scotland. I can only agree with the reviewer that called them a bunch of amateurs!

Hi there, I have just taken over the management of a property that used to be in the hands of Goodearl. The landlord came to us as Goodearl were ‘as bad as their reviews’ ! If i can be of any help to you regarding ‘correct’ property management then please let me know. Ann 0141 636 5525

Goodearl were recommended to me by a fried who has let a flat through them for years. They were helpful and professional from the start, have helped me deal with the over-due repairs left by the previous letting agent and have very promptly found excellent tenants at a rent both I and the tenants are happy with. I have had good clear communication from them, by email, text and phone, according to what is most convenient for me. I am really glad to have moved my property to their hands.

Goodearl Property have been managing my property for approx 2 years now. I have found them helpful, efficient and able. They provide me with an excellent service and I know that my property is in good hands.
They have had no difficulty letting my flat and there have been very few void periods between letting. This has contrasted sharply with my previous experience with Clyde Letting who provided me with an extremely poor service.

I am a landlord who stopped letting through Goodearl property last year. They are RUDE, INCOMPETENT and do dot care about their customers i.e LANDLORDS. They do not send rental statements out on time, carry out unnecessary repairs at the cost of the landlord, do not reposnd to repeated emails and are very RUDE.
DO NOT USE GOODEARL PROPERTY!!!

Be very careful of this company (Flat was good value for money) they will try to SHAFT you from the start. they just let themself into the flat without telling you and will not return your full deposit. crafty and sneaky, sleazy letting agent. We've certainly learned our lesson. I wish we had looked this company up before we signed the lease. simply terrible and a constant nightmare to deal with. Nothing positive to say.

Just appalling service, absolutely appalling. Landlords and tenants beware!

Find the previous reviews as being total rubbish. I have rented from Goodearl for at least 4 years now and never had any problems what so ever. Be it the condition of the flat, be it the speed at which the repairs were completed, the customer service, etc. Yes there will be a period to wait before the deposit is given back due to ensuring that you have paid your service bills etc other than that, cannot complain what so ever.
Written on: 22/11/2010
Well I can only say seenitdoneit that you either work for Goodearl and this is a false review or you are related to the owner, because from my experience and it seems everyone else that has written on this company that they are a shocking agent that fail to do even the minimum for their clients.

I rented out a property from good earl property. Initially everything was all good! After my yearly contract expired i had decided to move in with my mum.
I had a final inspection, passed it, requested my 1 month deposit back, advised i would have to put forward every utility bill for inspection to confirm everything was paid for in full on that address? Gave them everything i had, waited best part of a month! Every time i would call regarding my deposit i was palmed off with excuses. Now looking for council tax bill? gave them that now making excuses that there is a hole in the wall? This is the hole the bt engineer made upon installing a new phone line,he made a hole so that he could feed a wire through!
Being told by good earl its a massive job?? Advised them tub of poly-filler from the pound shop should do the trick!
Not getting any where with them, advised i am looking at loosing my deposit in full!
Got in touch with my lawyer, left it with him..
PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM THEY ARE CROOKS!!!

"In the past"?! Some of us are still trying to get a reply to calls and emails. There was a lot of damage to the apartment I rented, I was in a hurry to move in and they agreed to fix ASAP. That was two months ago. Awful, inefficient and arrogant people who don't care once they have your money. If I was a landlord I'd give them a wide berth as they have zero interest in maintaining the properties that they are entrusted with.
