Written on: 30/01/2016 by Lesmerritt (1 review written)

Equiniti gave me a quote of £40 over the telephone to pay me my dividends fron Friends Provident. I arranged a change of address with no problems. We agreed my money would be paid directly into my bank acount. But...... A) They did not pay the money into my account instead they sent three seperate cheques. no mention of this or why. B) The charges which were dedecuted by them were £82.20. No explaination. DO NOT USE EQUINITI. I am going to complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service and… Read Full Review

Written on: 23/12/2015 by CooperMedeiros445 (1 review written)

I recently had notification from a branch of this company that I had dividends owing to me. Not a lot of money, but that for 12.5% of the total (approx6.00) they wd process it for me. Well I decided to try to go straight to lloyds to get the full amount, and they charged my over 40% in what they called an administration fee which wasn't mentioned by anyone along the long! tedious line of enquiry? stinks… Read Full Review

“Very bad customer relations and response to complaints”

Written on: 08/11/2015 by RogerMunoz (1 review written)

I tried to protect much of my ISA shares portfolio last February with stop losses. I did not feel I fully understood the set up on their trading site so I range for advice. The first person I spoke to clearly got it wrong so I rang back and was given further advice which I acted upon. This also proved to be incorrect when a large proportion of my portfolio got sold in opening trading the next morning. I complained and have kept complaining and have received about 6 promises that they would… Read Full Review

“Utterly useless”

Written on: 03/11/2015 by MirandaMcCain233 (1 review written)

excessive commission on deals , premium rate helpline charges which doesn't offer any help anyway. Trying to trade with them is a nightmare . Would recommend using Hargreaves Lansdown instead , they are cheap and thoroughly on the ball. Do not use Equiniti if you can at all avoid… Read Full Review

“just so bad”

Written on: 06/10/2015 by Mirandagr493 (1 review written)

been with this company from when it was comdirect and stuck with them through transfer to selftrade and their various owners and again transferred to Equiniti - how I wish I hadn't. Applaing web site layout, very unreliable in loading data, excessively fussy layout, extra steps at every stage... And transfers seem to be impossible - did the paperwork to move my kids CTF's to a Junior ISA provider in June and just cant get a response. Stay away!… Read Full Review

“utterly useless system”

Written on: 25/09/2015 by Wooten393 (1 review written)

I'm struggling to find the words to express how much I despise Equiniti. Their website is desperately slow and difficult to navigate. Their charges are excessive. I've just wasted 2 hours of my life trying to access my shares and now I'm on hold trying to get through to their ,laughingly called, "Helpdesk". Pathetic. … Read Full Review

“Administration charges to send investors money”

Written on: 18/08/2015 by Jettn112 (1 review written)

This company make unreasonable charges to shareholders. When trying to claim money due to you the charges are very high. I have not received cheques from them despite the address being the same and yet it is my fault and they want to charge 20% to get my money - it's not a lot in the first place. When complaining the supervisor was extremely unhelpful and repetitive. Stating again and again its an admin charge and they are a service company - not very good one. Don't use them… Read Full Review

Beyond poor. Using the online service for the 1st time it was unhelpful and hard to navigate. Called the helpline given wrong information which has cost me time and money. I sold off my smaller share holdings first, my larger stuff I will use an expert.....not from Equiniti!… Read Full Review

“Save yourself a headache and dont use Equiniti”

Written on: 16/07/2015 by Alivee8689 (1 review written)

I cant add anything here that others haven't already said. Equiniti don't make their share acquiring/selling process clear to the customer which causes delays in accessing funds as well as extra charges to you. Its frustrating having to constantly chase their CS department for forms that should be sent out automatically that are a requirement to allow release my funds to my own bank account and not theirs. I paid them £90 commission to sell shares for me but all that meant was I was out… Read Full Review

“One big headache”

Written on: 13/06/2015 by qqGustafson438 (1 review written)

As a former Selftrade customer, I decided to transfer to Equiniti after the buy out as I was led to believe it would be a simple transfer process. Unfortunately the day the transfer took place I was locked out of my account and it took two days before I managed to contact the CS team. Basically after constant aggravation I decided to find another service provider, I filled out all the necessary transfer forms and whilst some securities were transferred all cash sums were not. This was… Read Full Review

“Clueless !!”

Written on: 07/02/2015 by DevinFitch (1 review written)

Really poor customer service and duff information whilst trying to update bank details, Basically passed from pillar to post. I'm dreading next year when my shares are available for sale and will be handled by inept staff. considering these people are making money from Joe public's share dealing they really do need to go back to basics in terms of customer service and internal training. would I recommend this company ? NOT A CHANCE!!… Read Full Review

“Equinity - Selftrade transfer disaster”

Written on: 02/02/2015 by Dominickj344 (1 review written)

The transfer from Selftrade to Equinity is a disaster. I am locked out of my trading account and it's impossible to get anyone to answer a phone or reply to an email. I was with self trade for at least 10yrs but as soon as I can contact anyone I will get away from this shower I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman… Read Full Review

“Faith restored”

Written on: 26/01/2015 by 238Berry (1 review written)

Since I have been struggling to get Equiniti to transfer ownership of shares left to me by my Aunt. like all the complainants here I struggled with bad advice, unanswered letters, having to repeat information over and over. By 2014 I couldn't even put pen to paper to contact them as the mere thought of it made me shudder. However I decided that 2015 was the year I must get this sorted. I wrote a letter - and then rewrote a much calmer one explaining the facts and asking how we could… Read Full Review

“transferred out to another broker”

Written on: 15/12/2014 by Trinityh48 (1 review written)

Fed up of rude service over the phone, they offered me a free transfer out when selftrade merged with Equinity. They were inundated with people leaving so they apologised the transfer was going to take longer than normal. Unknown to me they charged me a £25 account inactivity fee, despite it being locked and unable to trade… Read Full Review

“Do not use this share service is you need need easy...”

Written on: 23/09/2014 by FJSchroeder (1 review written)

I cannot recommend a service which makes it extremly difficult to gain the shares back one originally invested. Dealing with postal service is delaying time and inefficient. They questioned my identity and did not except a perfectly written statement and ask for a revised letter from my bank. I wasted time and several phone calls and not got anywhere, I have even considerd visiting Equinity in East Sussx to claim what belongs to me and should be easily accessible when needed. The online… Read Full Review

Nevasha's Response to FJSchroeder's Review

Written on: 16/11/2014

My experience is not too far of this. They are polite on the phone but vacuous on any matter that speaks to customer service. I had managed to lock my account due to a number of login attempts. It works out after 6 failures they not only lock the account, which they claim can't be unlocked, you have to register all your holdings all over again on a new account. They claim this is for security and my protection, alas if this was the case I should have been notified by email or phone which they don't. In a nutshell their service is on par for most banks as in once they have your money they act as if it belongs to them. If I could I would use some other service, alas in U.K its Hobbson's choice - take it or leave it!

Makes you wonder how they manage to survive, but for lack of any meaningful competition.
