Placed an order for a rug before Christmas, which was listed as 'in stock' on the website. I received an email informing me that this item was no longer available and they cancelled. I (foolishly) placed an order for an alternative rug, which again was listed as 'in stock'. I have always liked the furniture from Cotswold Company and in the last few months have made 2 orders with them. Several weeks after ordering goods, The Cotswold Company inform me they are out of stock. The website still says the good are in stock, at an even lower price than the one I agreed to pay. Emails are not answered. A textbook case of appalling customer service and how not to run a business. Took my order, Cotswold Company confirmed a week later that it was being processed with delivery dates. Then 2 days later wrote to say that one item no longer available but they would send the rest. This was the main item I wanted. Checking their tracking system they had already despatched the other items the day before which meant that I could not cancel the total order before despatch. I do not recommend The Cotswold Company. At the end of January I ordered some furniture at checkout I was given a delivery date, waited in on this day nothing arrived as far as I am aware, called customer service and I was told delivery courier was now closed so call back again Monday, called Monday and I was informed he would look into it and get back to me with 24 hours, no call back it seemed, I called again after no response for 48 hours to be told that gentleman was on holiday. I moved recently and I placed a large internet order with this company on 17th December 2007 including large furniture items with a specified delivery date and three items to be delivered by courier. I noticed that the order receipt indicated that the courier items would be delivered within 10 working days. It was not made clear that this was the company policy and I object to being charged for something that was not my fault. The other irritation with this company was that their paperwork was confusing and they gave me one order number on-line and when the goods arrive it was a completely different one on the accompanying paperwork.

I have experienced horrendous service levels from The Cotswold Company and would NEVER recommend them to anyone, or indeed use them myself again.
On 1st December I ordered two drawer units, two bedside cabinets (both on a 14 day delivery date) and a storage box (in stock). I have now received several letters putting the delivery back, and back again. It is now the end of February and three months since my order and I cannot get a coherent answer from any of the staff.

When I placed my order with The Cotswold Company (very simple - just one item!), I was assured I'd receive it in two weeks.
Three months later, I was still waiting. I received three standard letters from them, each of which gave a new delivery date. None of these delivery dates were met.
I wrote to them to ask for some form of compensation for the huge delay, which they said they'd consider once the order was completed. They now refuse to acknowledge this.

1. Despite numerous emails, texts, letters that they send you - the delivery will take place when the carrier chooses
2. Do not let them go until you have checked the goods - they do not unpack them (despite what their brochure/correspondence says)

Unfortunately, I ordered furniture and a rug, and both came damaged. I spent £300. Also, I had just had my home re-decorated, and the couriers damaged paint on several surfaces whilst taking the unit through to my dining area. This is one of the worst retail outlets that I have ever dealt with and would never order from The Cotswold Company again. Ordered £700 worth of furniture (after 25% discount) in July with a confirmed delivery date in September. This company has the worst customer service of any company I have ever come across and I will never order from The Cotswold Company again. They delivered damaged goods and it has taken numerous phone calls to get a new delivery date. Even now we're not confident this will happen as they consistently get dates and times mixed up. The Cotswold Company quote ages for your "guaranteed delivery slot", you stay in, they don't come. You call customer services, wait for 30 mins to get through, they say they'll call you back. They don't. You call back after 3 hours and wait for 45 minutes to get through before giving up. Then you email. You get no response. Will I ever get my money back? Not at this rate! The Cotswold Company has very arrogant, poor customer service. Delivery dates on elastic! Not interested in pleasing the customer, only in taking money far too early and then not meeting delivery dates. Would definitely not use again. If my stuff doesn't arrive at the next "guaranteed" delivery date I'll cancel, claim interest for money held for long period of time and loss of earnings for days off for delivery. (read more)

Forget the first date given for delivery, it won't happen. Don't expect a call from The Cotswold Company if there has been an error, they wait for you to ask them. Customer services unhelpful and arrogant. I took a day off work to take delivery of kitchen table, phoned and checked site for delivery time but no note. Delivery date went from 7 days to 6 weeks then to 12 weeks. Arrived after 6 weeks after contacting company. Item was damaged. After ordering the Cotswold Kitchen table and chairs that according to the internet order was scheduled for delivery in early December, imagine my surprise that this would now be delayed until the middle of January. I have just had a second disappointing experience with the Cotswold Company. Twice now I have ordered on line, checking that the items were shown as in stock. It's the same each time: some time after ordering I get a letter saying I have to wait several weeks (which later stretch into more than two months) for the item to be available. I ordered the Studley bench and shelf units for my entrance hall from The Cotswold Company. On delivery the shelf unit was damaged and the fixings had fallen out. Originally Customer Service said they would send me a replacement but this was not forthcoming. Eventually I telephoned and was informed that a new set of fixings were being sent. The Cotswold Company did seem to be good. But on a substandard goods delivery, the aftercare has been useless. Not only did the customer services completely ignore my request to redeliver by a certain date, they actually delivered it during the time we were away and left my 2 year old toddler stranded without a bed!!!!
