Do not book with this company. We booked on a Friday, then tried to cancel on the Saturday, because of the terrible reviews. They immediately took the money out of our account and then charged us a ludicrous cancellation fee, when they hadn't done anything. (read more)

I booked a holiday to Hurghada today with Purple Travel. Within the hour of booking I realised I had (incredibly stupidly) booked for the day my daughter's baby is due!! In a panic and sweating, I called back, absolutely desperate to change it.. the lady who took my original booking has the perfect name for her! Still trying to recover the money taken for a holiday that did not in any way resemble what we agreed to. Our ski package turned out to be an EAsyjet flight to Turin + a transfer that never appeared + a hotel that had no knowledge of our reservation. We spent over £1000 per person to get a taxi to the resort and book another hotel which was the only one with rooms, a terrible tiny b&b far from the slopes. Just about managed to book a holiday to portugal. As they never want to call you back, when you do get through your kept holding on the telephone. Sent me to a hotel, i would not recommend to man nor breast. Sent them 3 emails from holiday trying to get my money back for the meals that we are longer having, but have paid for. I spent a whole Saturday afternoon trawling the internet to find a break for me, my pregnant girlfriend her mum and aunt. Found a cheap deal to Cuba on another site and came across it on purple travel for a little bit less. We rang to go through the quote which then increased quite a bit but was still overall cheaper. We booked the holiday through Evelyn asking for extra baggage or so we thought as we are used t travelling with 20 kilos. Purple holidays completely miss sold and false advertised our family holiday to crete.They told us it was a 4 to 5 star hotel where we were going to and it had 3 pools a gym ,sauna and great entertainment.All this was untrue.The place we stayed at wasnt even a hotel it was just run down apartments with a pool the size of two bath tubs.No gym no entertainment.The food was brought in by outside caterers and was basic and bland.The food was so awful that we gave up on it and ate elsewhere.All... I've worked in customer service myself a few times over the years, and I would just like to compliment purpleholidays on the great job they did. I had a problem with my booking, and I called up to alter it. There was no problem, the lady I dealt with was very friendly and assured me it would be fixed in no time, which it was. Watched an all inclusive holiday to Cuba for 2 weeks. Tried to book at the lowest price of £583pp. They claimed it had never been that low, and could only do it for over £800pp. Even though the current price was still only £597pp. I was told it was a human error. I have to say, having read some of the other reviews I had a totally different experience. When I first called Purple they were nothing but helpful, and the girl I was speaking to was very courteous, polite and professional. I have returned from a holiday to Crete with Purple and couldn't say anything better. Our kids were very happy and that was the main thing for us, hotel was great and we got a very reasonable price. Plus the first time I booked to Zante, we had some problems with the booking, but it was so refreshing to speak to a real person and they sorted it out straight away. I have already sent an email of thanks to Purple, as I was very nervous about booking and they totally relaxed my fears. The person on the phone I spoke with for a long time, and calmed me down a bit! See the problem was, I had been defrauded a few weeks ago by a dodgy company, and lost money, but I was totally reassured and got all the paperwork and everything in very good time. I was one of the Kiss Flights casualties after they went bust. Purple found me more expensive alternative flights stating their insurance would cover the difference. CAA refunded me the original cost of the Kiss Flight but Purple (parent company is Hays) still haven't refunded the difference between the Kiss and alternative flights. I rang on a Sunday and she said someone could get back to me on the Monday! I am still waiting a week later. Exactly the same thing happened to me, apparently, the price advertised on their website changed while I was finalising the details by phone - it was blamed on the flight company - and strangely the increase was exactly the same??? £20 pp. Just a fluke? Going to run this and a few of the other teletext companies adverts by wathdog to see if they get the same treatment. The price advertised is rarely what is paid as apparently it's not a live advert, yet the prices advertised are correct as of today's date. It's got to be shady at the very least!

Used Purple travel for the first time, and had no problems whatsoever. Great price for the holiday and Only had a week but would have liked to stay forever. They booked me on a first class accommodation, food, service. A break from reality and totally relaxing. my Transfers were on time so no need to worry you won't get picked up. Purple Holiday's idea of good customer service differs greatly from my own. I found the call operator extremely unhelpful, and had a terrible telephone manner, rude, unhelpful and arrognant. I am adamant shanding up, and I received no return telephone call.. I felt the operator was more occupied in conversations with colleagues, than myself.
Perhaps her arrogance and rudeness are what people from England are accustomed to, but here in Northern Ireland manners, respect and politeness are...

Really dissapointed with Purple holidays,service seemed fine at first however was misold holiday, they were not upfront that the tour operator of my holiday was actually thomas cook..which was only on confirmation details 3 days later...they think it is ok to say .."your atol protected"

You recieved a discount on your booking of approximately £60, which we passed on to you out of our own commission with Thomas Cook. The fact that Thomas Cook had changed the price of the holiday 3 days after you had booked it is unfortunate, but sometimes happens in the market when they are trying to sell their late availability. The price of the holiday at the time you booked it was, indeed, more expensive. Unfortunately, once the holiday has been booked, you cannot get a refund of the difference if you find it cheaper at a later date. It is treated as under contract at the time of booking.

<br/>We are, however, in the process of appealing to Thomas Cook on your behalf. This would entirely be a decision from Thomas Cook regarding their own pricing policy and has nothing to do with Purple Holidays not wanting to get the holiday at a lower cost on your behalf (since we are obliged to pay for the holiday at the original cost as well). I Booked a holiday on February to go to Maldives. I can tell you that i was very impressed with their prompt responce on my needs. The operator on the phone, i believe the name was Donna, was very helpfull and thorough with the details of the holiday as well as the pricing. I found their price very competitive and their website easy to use. Small delay on the confirmation email though but nothing to worry about. Absolutely useless. Booked a package holiday with Purple Holidays to Sharm. Got stuck in Egypt last year due to ash cloud. The rep they supplied was abysmal. They knew the flight wasn't going but they took us and dumped us at the airport anyway. That was the last we heard from them until a phone call 5 days later saying we were booked on a flight home, only after the intervention of the British consulate.
