“18 month free financing, but watch out!”

This is regarding BarcIaycard Visa. I purchased a few apple computers. Apple setup the financing which was 18 months interest free if paid completely during the 18 months. I requested equal monthly payments. Got the card, saw that it wasn’t correct and was only setup for the required minimum monthly payment and not the minimum monthly payment for the 18 month free financing. if you are thinking of purchasing an apple product with the one year no interest plan through the barclaycard you better be prepared to pay it all off before the year is up or you are going to get charged with the back interest for the full year at a very high rate. there is no warning of this when you purchase an apple product from either apple or barclaycard. so beware!!! Barclay US is one of the worst credit cards I have ever had. Will cancel as soon as I use up my reward points. Have a credit score around 780 - will only give credit of $250. “"Fraud Protection" is ruining my life. ”

I used to have the Upromise card with Bank of America, and loved loved loved it. Barclaycard recently bought the rights to the Upromise card, and it's been a disaster ever since. Their fraud protection services are making it impossible to use the card. Every time I travel, the card is shut off. Every time I try to buy travel tickets online, the card is shut off. We made the unfortunate choice awhile ago of getting a Barclay credit card. Recently we made a mistake and paid slightly under the balance for one month. Because of that, Barclay charged us a huge late fee and have been calling us endlessly. They call us at least five times a day and never have the courtesy to even leave a message. I called today to put a stop to the massive amounts of junk mail they send and to inquire about my interest rate. I believed the customer service rep when he said that I will no longer be haunted by unwanted junk mail but I discovered that for no reason at all they are going to increase my ARP by 2% from 18.9% to 20.9%. I have just made a balance transfer from my Barclaycard of about 2/3rds of my debt to another card offering 20mths at 0%. Two days after this transaction was completed I got a letter from Barclaycard saying they had increased the interest rate on my card from 16.9% to 20%. No reason was given. Barclaycard customer service is rubbish. It took me days to register online just to pay my account. When I couldn't pay online they gave me the wrong bank details to pay through my bank, then instead of charging a late payment charge, which would have been reasonable, they cancelled my 0% deal, didn't inform me and slapped on a huge APR. I only used the 18 month deferred interest because I had the money in the bank and figured at any time, I could just pay it in full and liked the security of having the money in the bank. “Inconsistent answers”

Unfortunately my UPromise account was transferred to Barclay. Every month since then I have had difficulties. For example, an hour call to change my address -- I speak to rude supervisor and get 'transferred' --- really disconnected. I call back, happen to get another representative that corrects the address issue in less than 2 minutes. What a waste of time. Additionally, I am 'an exception' and can not have online access to my account. Will be leaving Barclay as a customer immediately. (read more)

I have had my account for a VERY long time, since before they changed to barclaycard. I was 3 days late making my payment this month, and they refused to credit me for my late fee, even though I have never asked for this before. I had a crazy month, and forgot to pay 2 other bills on their due dates. I had no trouble getting late fees waived on the other bills, because it was also the first time I asked for it on those. “Call centres and fraud”

After obtaining a barclaycard credit card after just 2 weeks it had been used fraudulently - once in the sum of 2,000 plus pounds which they did notice and managed to stop and twice for small amounts of £3.78 which actually made it through to my statement. When speaking to their call centres - in I think where must have been India - I was on the phone for 40 minutes and they then tell me I am on to the wrong department. “Use abroad”

Used the card in New Zealand. Was already unhappy with the high interest rate back home, but found that they gave us a poor rate and then added a £9.55 non-Sterling transfer charge on top. “Wasted Paper”

Barclay Card sends us at least one (and sometimes two) pieces f identical mail EVERY DAY. This is not an exaggeration. We literally get something from them every day, and there is no way to contact the company unless you have a card with them, so we can't make it stop. “Pays balances for new promotions before older promotions”

I'm glad I called to find out. Turns out the promotional balance offered to purchase my Apple computer last December is not being paid off at all. After the Apple purchase,I did a balance transfer to this card. All of my payments are going to pay off the balance transfer. No money is being used to pay down the computer purchase AND THE DEFERRED INTEREST IS ACCUMULATING. My barclaycard's interest rate has been going up and up and i know they wont let me get another barclaycard (with balance transfer) to switch to. So I had a look around for different products with a long balance transfer period. I have tried to make 2 seperate payments (2 months of statements, there online system was down so i had to pay via the phone. the first time it took me around 40 minutes to pay after transferring me through several departments. Just received my new gleaming new Barclaycard card in the post and I've very pleased. The application process was very straight forward and the card has arrived within a week! It comes with the "Oyster" style contact less chip so I can now pay for things whilst going down a water slide - Not! Customer service is rubbish and they have no clue what they are saying.
I am really disapointed since this is a big company, but trust me everyone should avoid this card at all cost, its not worth it....

Ok so stay away from Barclaycard credit card company. I had a US Air card and I guess this company bought them out but I paid off my account and have had to call them 4 times about continuing fees. The one good thing about this card is that it is easy to obtain. Especially for people with poor credit. I cleared my balance back in 2010 which was a mission to say the least. Once I got over the stress they were causing me of hidden charges and poor customer service, I finally cleared all of my outstanding credit.
