“Fagor or Neff.....hmmmm?”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hanaw64 on 07/03/2014

We bought a Fagor 981X double oven two and a half years ago and the heating elements have failed already. We understood we had a 5 year warranty on our Fagor oven and fridge freezer but there were no registration cards provided when the products were installed and we've recently found out that the kitchen company we bought the new kitchen from hadn't completed the registration either. We've therefore been quoted £197 call-out and repair costs for the oven repair but have decided instead to replace the Fagor oven with a Neff one - our previous Neff oven gave us no problems during the ten years we had it! The kitchen company have been great however, selling us a new Neff oven at cost price. We've also replaced the Fagor extractor hood with a Neff one as the Fagor hood was dropping to bits. The kitchen company have also told us that they stopped using Fagor products some time ago because of other problems.

We bought a similar one nearly 6 years ago and the element is sound, in spite of our mains voltage regularly rising 250 Volts. However, many years ago ago the heater in the main fan-oven failed twice in a short time. I discovered that my wife ,when using aluminium foil to wrap a large turkey in, whilst roasting, had not not ensured that the foil was secure, hence part of the foil was sucked across the air inlet to the fan, so blocking the air flow to the element, resulting in its over heating. The inside edge of a bend in the heater is a good indicator of this, as this the point where the internal embedded spiral element coils are closer together, so the heat is normally more intense. Also an air space must always be maintained between the fan inlet and any large utensils within the oven.

Hi Peter,
It's good to know you sorted your oven problem but this wasn't the problem with ours. You might also be interested to know that the company which services Fagor products in the UK (De Dietrich of Basingstoke) went into liquidation in August 2014 so customers with Fagor warranties will have to apply to the liquidator if problems occur. It hardly gives confidence in Fagor products, does it......?

“EXPENSIVE MISTAKE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/01/2014

I bought this Pyrolytic Cleaning oven to replace a Bosch oven, what a big mistake! The service is unreliable, the engineer arrived with the wrong part, even though I live just a few miles from the UK headoffice they were unable to provide the correct part, which by the way they had given the engineer 30 minutes before he arrived to repair the oven on Christmas Eve. It is now the 2nd of January and as a result of the engineers vist both ovens are not working properly. The extended warranty isn't worth bothering with as even though the parts are not available Fagor will not replace the oven. The Pryolytic cleaning function is so noxdious it is unuseable. It us worth checking John Lewis online to see if they sell the brand you are considering buying if they don't sell the item avoid it at all costs. There is a good reason John Lewis don't sell it!

“Don't bother their warranties are not worth the paper...”

Don't bother their warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. Do not get drawn into buying with the 5 year deal on repairs. Appalling after sales service.

I was thinking of checking out Fagor's sales but think I will give this a miss after reading so many negative comments about their after sales service from several website. It is also very disheartening that there's no reply from Fagor at all.

“After sales service is appalling. If you want good...”

After sales service is appalling. If you want good after sales even though they give you a five year guarantee, settle for better with another manufacturer.

I purchased three items of kitchen appliances including a fagor integrated 1400 washing machine for my new kitchen. What they do not tell you is that although it is integrated the kick board covers the inlet which needs to be emptied every 12 months. Problem (1). Kick board had to be removed and then resealed.

Second problem, broke down completely. Had to telephone the repair line where then it falls down. A simple complaint took over fifteen minutes to deal with and then the engineer failed to turn up on the appointed day. A phone call to the engineer's premises then revealed that I was not even on the list until the day after. A complicated phone call ensued and I became totally disillusioned and gave up. I have written to express my frustration at such a shambles of an after sales service and await a reponse.

It is no wonder the country is in a mess. Customers certainly take a beating when it comes to after sales service. It is completely none existent.

i think you will find the filter position on all built in washing machines today is located behind the kick board. your kickboard should not be silicone sealed in, there is a specific plastic edging trim that seals properly, with the intention that it can be removed when necessary without damaging floor, or creating hassle. your kitchen fitter just did a quickie by siliconing it in...

“I bought this unit to put an Induction hob over it....”

written by 3170 on 10/02/2010

I bought this unit to put an Induction hob over it. Once purchased I found out that it can't be done.
It dosn't say that on either the retailer (Appliance Planet) or the Fagor site.
What is supposed to be a SINGLE Grill, dosn't actually work. After contacting Fagor I was told, that "No,,,, it isn't supposed to be a single grill". I pointed out the obvious as well as the instructions in the booklet for Single Grilling, only to be told again "No it dosn't work like that. The book is wrong. WE'VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS FOR TWO YEARS - BUT DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT".

A good looking cooker, let down by small niggles that could be so easily rectified.

The 'couldn't care less' attitude put me right off the FAGOR brand.

3170's Response to 3170's Review

Written on: 04/10/2015

Since writing this fair review, I now update my findings.

Whatever you do -DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM FAGOR, OR THE PARENT COMPANY DIE DIETRICH.

In fact, Fagor has now stopped trading, to get around the warranty issues - although the parent company - DIE DIETRICH - is still operating, without honouring their guarantees.

Mine failed terribly in several places and I ended up selling it to an engineer, who was to strip it down for parts (he knew the full story - as he worked on it).

I'd like to update all my 'Stars' to Zero, but it seems that I can't
See my opinion of AEG somewhere else !
