It has a powerful presence carried throughout the film. But don't be fooled, this film is the equivalence of being punched in the stomach repeatedly, in fact, you will want to leave the cinema more than once while watching. It is a film about an obese, illiterate, 16-year old teen, Claireece "Precious" Jones, having been impregnated twice by her father, this story is unlike anything you will ever see. "While she is being beaten by her father, she looks at the ceiling and imagines herself in a music video shoot in which she is the superstar and the focus of attention. While looking in photograph albums, she imagines the pictures talking to her. When she looks in the mirror, she sees a pretty, white, thin, blonde girl. There is a raw, powerful passion the carries the film, making it one of the best of our time- I sincerely hope that people leave the cinema seeing just how "precious" life really is.
