Summary
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year, you'll be well aware of Apple's tablet, the iPad. Dubbed the next generation device, it is hoped that it will plug the gap between small laptops and Smartphone mobiles.
At first glance, the iPad looks like everything that was predicted. Its touch screen looks like a bigger and squarer version of the iTouch and iPhone. It features multi-touch interaction with print, video, photo, and audio multimedia, internet browsing, and runs most iPhone OS apps.
The device has a backlit LCD colour display and uses a virtual keyboard for text input! The iPad has a Wi-Fi connection to the internet, or you can download video, music, books and newspapers while on the go whilst connected to the web via 3G.

Have had a ipad 4 for a few weeks now and must say its very good, battery life is brilliant, once the novelty wears off and you use it normally the battery lasts days instead of a few hours for a laptop. It won't replace a laptop but its bril at browsing the web , online shopping,online banking etc, all the usual stuff most people use the Internet for. (read more)

Buying the ipad has made life very easy. Its always on stanby so very ideal when you need the internet very quickly. The screen sensitivity is spot on and the kids love it (very easy for kids to use) I thought the battery life would be poor but this ipad has proved me wrong. Ideal for anyone who wants to use it on the go but would not recommend using it to replace a laptop or a desktop. (read more)

I've been using Macs for years have 3 iMacs and an eMac but when they came out couldn't see the point of the iPad but rather than get a very expensive Apple Laptop I bought a 3G iPad and now love it and use all the time. (read more)

I am an iPhone user so by that logic I thought I would take the plunge and buy myself an iPad 3. So far I have to say I am getting on with it well although I do think it has limited self life. The display is great and allows me to watch HD films to great effect and makes my photos look crisp and clear. The apps are also great and the games play great on the larger display. I bought the new iPad (3rd gen) on its launch day (16 March). I have been using it for almost a month and it frustrates me. It is an excellent bedside/sofa/hotel companion, but it's very limited in what you can do. It does not have USB connectivity. It does not have an SD card port (very frustrating!) It gets very hot if using processor-heavy apps. It feels fragile and the screen smudging issue is irritating. Even though it's one of the slimmest tablets out there, it's still too thick... i've got an iPad1, got it when the iPad 2 came out as thry dropped price on iPad 1! This little job has kept me sane through the winter, loads of games to play, always willing to surf (we use a MiFi dongle) Someone complained about the number of emails you can keep on it! I use gmail and the emails are always there and not on my pad. In fact most servers keep you emails for you! Was not that impressed with it for two reasons... There is a limit to how many emails it can hold. Does not support flash. For this reason when using for a little while I would stumble across one of these and have to reach for my laptop. Highly annoying! Anyway... The Apple iPad when first launched was on the pricey side. To be honest I would have not bought it, as it does not include flash player, and didn't include a camera. I used this iPad for about a month, and found that it was real handy to search the internet whenever I pleased, as it took no time at all to turn it on. Great for games and casual surfing, the aps are great and education for kids cannot be beaten. However I was not aware of the limitations surrounding flash technology and had I known this I wouldn't have brought it, very frustrating to be unable to have full use of the web due to apple disallowing flash downloads

An amazing device. No, it doesn't have flash support but I've not found this to be a big issue at all, in fact free apps like Flipboard and Pulse News will change the way you browse the web anyway! Web browsing on a laptop, PC or mac seems archaic after spending some time on an iPad.

The iPad is good for games, and adequate for reading books and checking emails. Some websites work fine on it; many don't, partly due to the lack of Flash support. (Mr Jobs' claim that this is "by far the best browsing experience you've ever had" is frankly ludicrous.) Anything even slightly complicated, such as creating a spreadsheet, is pretty much impossible due to lack of mouse and keyboard.
By far its best feature is the boot-up time which is more or less instantaneous. A handy device...

I borrowed an Ipad for 30 days and tried to keep an open mind as I'm not an Apple fanboy. My first thoughts on handling it, pretty and pretty heavy! I've got Apple iPad 32G as a gift.
It is light weight, feels very well made and the design is very nice.
Battery life is great, it lasts about 10 hours of internet surfing, including movies watching in youtube.
Very user friendly interface and outstanding touch screen which is automatically adjusts brightness according to light conditions. The size of the touch screen is exactly what I need, smaller 7" screens strain my eyes.

I'm no Apple fanboy (read my other review on the HTC desire), but I have to admit I love my ipad. I basically never use my laptop any more (goodby poor battery life and getting hot after 5 minutes), as all I ever did was really browse the web and maybe remote-desktop to other pc's and send email, all of which can be done by the ipad (admittedly you have to buy an app for RDP, but its only a fiver or so).
The touch screen really responsive, and the safari browser is super quick and slick....

This is an absolutely, amazing, outstanding piece of technology, I am going to recommend it to all friends and family, I sit here while I am using it and just think, How???
If any of you have bought this and seriously not happy with it, then no piece of technology will ever make you happy.

I have been trying to find some way of contacting some sort of customer service or chat or anything really to let them know that some poor sod thousands of miles away has paid out hundreds of pounds on an ipad and other stuff and has no receipt. This is a sleek piece of kit but don't confuse it with a Tablet PC. If you have a laptop and a iPhone then this is for you for a bit of luxury in mobile computing for example checking email, interneting, bit of gaming but thats about it. It is an overgrown iPod Touch and incompatible with anything other than an Apple device. I would recommend the bigger hard drive. The bluetooth is only for keyboard and headphone connection. This is the coolect gadget since the iPhone - I had one delivered last week and it's a mervallous tool, the huge range of free apps and simplicity to use, I can't fault this in any way except perhaps the battery life (but you can't have everything)
The wi-fi package and use is smooth and funtionality is outstanding. I spend every evening on Facebook, YouTube and on the apps that I downloaded.
Everyone should have one in their life!

I really like the Apple Ipad.
Its very small, light and portable and yet the functionality and power of it is fantastic.
The interface is so intuitive that my 2 year old was able to switch it on, find her favourite app and happily play with it on her own after only been shown how to do it twice. That's pretty good.
As its essentially a large iPhone there are already loads of apps available (although ones specifically written for the iPad are better, you can still use the iPhone apps on...

I've used Apples for business for over a decade now and to be honest, I've never really seen their appeal. I can receive emails but not send, went to the apple store they got it working and guest what? When I got home to send some mail it does not work! I am getting fed up with this iPad, I think I might invest in a new PC laptop at least it works. Also when I some times look at a news video does not work no flash. An expensive paperweight
