Summary
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past six months, you'll be well aware of Apple's new tablet, the iPad. Dubbed the next generation device, it is hoped that it will plug the gap between small laptops and Smartphone mobiles.
At first glance, the iPad looks like everything that was predicted. Its touch screen looks like a bigger and squarer version of the iTouch and iPhone. It features multi-touch interaction with print, video, photo, and audio multimedia, internet browsing, and runs most iPhone OS apps.
The device has a backlit LCD colour display and uses a virtual keyboard for text input! The iPad has a Wi-Fi connection to the internet, or you can download video, music, books and newspapers while on the go whilst connected to the web via 3G.

Now finally on sale in the UK, will you be queuing up to get your hands on one of these gadgets? If yes, come back to Review Centre and be the first to leave a review and tell us what you think of the iPad.

I really like the Apple Ipad.
Its very small, light and portable and yet the functionality and power of it is fantastic.
The interface is so intuitive that my 2 year old was able to switch it on, find her favourite app and happily play with it on her own after only been shown how to do it twice. That's pretty good.
As its essentially a large iPhone there are already loads of apps available (although ones specifically written for the iPad are better, you can still use the iPhone apps on it).
I think the cost is too high, which is why I marked it down by 1 star, but apart from that its a fantastic piece of kit.
I do question though where it fits in - I use it when the screen on my phone is a little too small to get the info Im after and I can't be bothered powering up / lugging over my laptop. However, I'm not sure this is a large enough gap in my technology portfolio to really justify the very high costs of the Ipad. If it were more in the £200-£300 price bracket it would, but at the current prices it seems like a very, very expensive toy.
That said, its a great toy, so for that Apple should be commended.

I've used Apples for business for over a decade now and to be honest, I've never really seen their appeal. However, after spending the last decade trying everything from pocket PCs, Blackberries and assorted smartphones as a lightweight but capable alternative to a laptop, I finally plunged for an Ipad and at last I have a machine which does what I need - check emails, write and review documents and play the odd game quickly, easily and without the weight and startup/shutdown times of a laptop. ...- Read Guest's review (214 words)

Bought a basic 16 gig iPad as a mobile device to use around the house and to take away with me on trips (beats lugging a laptop). I am very pleased with it. Not sure whether the 32 gig with sim card and all is worth the extra ££s. Unless you want to do 'serious' work with it (excel, word etc) it's perfect for web browsing and emails. Battery life is brilliant. When you buy I recommend that you get the Apple designed case for it. Having trouble sourcing the SD card reader for it at th ...- Read gslack's review (126 words)

This is a great divice I have had the original ipod the ipod nano and the ipod touch and they are all great but the ipad is taking it all that one step better and what a big step it is. It has every thing you need all the apps you could get of the ipod touch a massive screen and it looks great it should be in an art exibition not pc world. Unfortunatly I havent been able to get one yet as the price is a bit to much for me right now so im afraid im just going to have to keep hijacking my freinds.- Read astanton111's review (108 words)

Just to qualify, I am not the regular Apple fanboi. I only have one Apple device, an iPod Classic and am a Windows user.
I picked up the 32gb wifi version.
I love my iPad! I have heard a lot of people try to put the iPad down by saying that it is just a big iPod touch. So what's the problem with that. The idea of the iPad is to deliver the content on a large screen that you can still hold in you hand.... See more
To the iPad itself. It's a very well built piece of kit that feels solid to hold ...- Read culver's review (342 words)

It's so easy to use, even as someone who uses Apple products every day it just floors me. There are some beautifully designed apps out there already with brilliant user interfaces, I hope to see many more. Photography shown off on the iPad is astounding, and as a graphic designer & photographer this is going to make a brilliant mobile portfolio (& is the main reason I bought the iPad) - the screen quality is stunning. The speed at which you can learn to navigate web, email, photos, music, photos ...- Read Guest's review (119 words)

Bought this in London from someone who had bought two when over in the states.
It's well designed, feels very solid, and the battery life is excellent - it was two days before I had to charge it for the first time, and that's with around 5/6 hours of use per day. Also, it really doesn't get that warm during use, which is a plus.
The screen is, in a word, beautiful. The viewing angle is excellent, and it's very easy for two people to watch the same video.
The speakers are surprisingly good g ...- Read Guest's review (490 words and 1 comment)

If you like everything that has to do with Apple I`m sure you will love this as well. I love Ipad Tablet mainly becasue it contains a lot of options and is easy to use. However he only thing I dont really like about Ipad Tablet is the size. Its quite huge and hard to store to be honest. Therefore good value of money as its quite cheap including how many options it contains and how much you can do with it. I would really recooment it to everybody.- Read monquec's review (90 words)

Apple's iPad definitely exceeded expectations for me. When I read the news prior to buying an iPad I wasn't sure where it fitted into my life. Now I know and I'll share it with you.
1. The Apple iPad is definitely a niche device, it doesn't replace your laptop
2. It fits perfectly at home, in the lounge or kitchen, always on
3. You'll use it for consuming loads of media, including newspapers and magazines
4. I'm not convinced the iPad is what you'll use to read books, unless you are an obsess ...- Read c47105's review (128 words)

WOW - this is so cool. I use this all the time at home for checking my emails and general browsing of the web. The speed and quality are excellent and it is much less clunky than my PC.
If I did have one criticism it would be around portability. It is too big to fit in my pocket and the screen is really exposed to getting damaged in my bag.
The price is reasonable and if you are thinking of buying a new laptop for home then this could be a realistic and viable alternative. looks better and de ...- Read Guest's review (104 words)

The Apple ipad has been much hyped - so much so that i was expecting not to be able to even get near one. The local apple store was preparing for queues down the block and on saturday morning i was reading stories of people sleeping on the streets just to keep their place in line. However on saturday afternoon i was able to go into the apple store, play with one and buy it.
It looks unbelievably cool, it is light and actually slimmer than my iphone. It's an excellent media consumption device, ...- Read kirsty88's review (412 words and 1 comment)
