“Do not book with Thomas cook”

★☆☆☆☆

written by YeseniaHutchinson89 on 28/07/2016

I booked my family holiday with Thomas cook signature and I did the final payment and received all my paper work vouchers etc: week later I got call from Thomas cook winsford branch that I have outstanding payment and unless I paid straightaway they will cancel my family holiday. I pointed out to the travel clerk that if you check last email it showed that outstanding balance is nil but she sent me new email with my holiday price was amended and it showed that I had balance to pay and she said unless you pay I will cancel your holiday. It was my husband's sixtieth birthday surprise and did not want any hassle and I was so upset that I paid the balance. I was disgusted with her attitude and would advise DO NOT BOOK THOMAS COOK.

This has to be one of the worst experiences ever! It's pointless posting the post i know... as nothing will change... what they have done to thousands of customers is unthinkable. I stumbled upon a website with lots of info on what to do next and all the latest news. It's called "lowcostholidayshelp.com" and I just hope that if there is such a thing as karma it is repaid in full!!!

You left me and my boyfriend high and dry in the middle of Spain on Friday evening, leaving us no choice but to walk from our hotel and sleep on the airport floor until our flight home. You have robbed many people from their holidays & their well earned money. What have you got to say for yourselves? You knew you where going bankrupt and you still took money of people. You disgust me. Where is the answers? Where is the help? What are you going to do for all us people in the same situation? I trust no one because of you, I handed over a large amount of long hard earned money, and where is it? It ruiend our holiday. You are greedy, and robbed people of their money. You didn't care about the thousands of people left high and dry in a foreign country or those yet to travel! I want answers!!! I want refunds for what we lost and for the state of shock you left me in on Friday evening! It's a disgrace! The man in charge should be ashamed of yourself!!!

“BIG let down”

written by LadyMalfoy on 18/07/2016

I was very excited to finally go on holidays to Paphos and I am very disappointed because of the misleading advertising used by this site. I understand we are not paying top prices but I would appreciate not being lied to. The room was not cleaned everyday (I arrived Saturday night and until Monday evening after making a huge complaint in reception I got them to get it cleaned) and they mention a gym as part of their facilities when in reality is in the apartments in the building in front and they charge 5 euros per day!!! I called the operator and am still waiting to her from them for a resolution as am not happy.

“Disgusted ”

written by Cardenasqy289 on 15/07/2016

I am writing this post which most probably will get deleted . Tomorrow we fly to Nice, and for obvious reasons with the terror attacks we do not feel comfortable visit as it is not fair on us or the locals.

Lowcostholidays have done nothing to help. I have currently been waiting for 45 minutes for the customer service advisor.

I started the phone call at 4pm on the 15/7/16. At 1pm I had a brief conversation with 3 different members of low cost holidays, who all mentioned that it was the hotels right to change the accommodation or give a refund.

I rang the hotel who said that because low cost holiday booked the hotel it was their responsibility . At 1:17pm I spoke to another member who just said the words terms and conditions . I did not ask for a refund, just a change of hotel for the same price.

As many of my friends and family have used lowcostholidays in the past I can categorically say none of us will be using lowcostholidays again.

“Great flexibility and prices”

★★★★☆

written by 64Maldonado on 01/07/2016

We wanted to hook a holiday to Malta at very short notice but all of the High Street agents we went to were unable to meet our criteria of start and end dates. Low Cost Holidays were able to give us the flexibility we needed at a competitive price. We booked "speedy transfer" to our hotel and back at the end of our holiday. On the way to the hotel the coach driver was unclear when calling out the hotel names and we missed our stop, even though he knew how many passengers he had for each stop. On the return journey we were the first to be picked up and drove round and round the resort making more than the specified maximum 4 stops. We didn't really feel that this was value for money and that is the only reason I have not given 5 stars.it might have been helpful to have more clarity on the mode of transport ie. minibus or coach .

Having booked and paid in full The Rixos in Dubai for 2 weeks a week ago on 9th July. I would like to know what is the likelihood of getting the £4263.00 back as the company has ceased trading and made no booking or paid any no money to the hotel? To say that I am seething is an understatement. I await your response eagerly, with less than 2 weeks to my departure.

If you paid by credit card, claim against the CC Company. If you didn't pay by credit card, then you are in a difficult position, all I can say is have a look at the telegraph article and see if it is of any help.

If you paid by credit card you are covered by your bank and if you got a good travel insurance you may be covered there too. I always recommend a good travel insurance if paying for an expensive holiday

We were in a similar position except that the flights had actually been paid for. I am seeking recompense for the other amount i.e. hotel deposit, travel insurance, transfers through my debit card. They have been extremely helpful and I am currently in the process of getting together confirmation of cancellation from the various parties. Hope this helps and the very best of luck.

Hi I used LowcostHolidays last year to book the same hotel and, saddened to say in this situation, I had no issues. In light of what has happened I am hoping you paid for the holiday via credit card as this will give you a far stronger chance of recovering your money than payment via any other means. As the company is based in Spain you are not protected by the same rules and regulations for those registered in the UK. Additionally if you have travel insurance then his would be a course of action to pursue. My travel insurance is luckily via my bank account so I would have 2 possible means to recover my money. From my understanding flights tend to be paid for in advance so check with the airline for your flights as they may be paid and it would only leave the hotel aspect to recover. Final advice for all is always use a credit card even if you have the money. Yes there may be a small surcharge but this is negligible in context of the extra "insurance" it provides. Best of luck

Hi - Sorry you are going through this, anger beyond belief!! I seen this info online. So if you have paid with credid card or Paypal you should stand a good chance.  Credit Cards Under section 75 of the consumer act all purchases made via credit card between £100 and £30,000 should be covered! By law for all companies that have gone bust your only option is the credit card company. Although they may well try to palm you off and push you back to contact the administrator, you have your rights and they are fully aware of them! If for any reason you are met by a frosty reception get in touch with the Financial Ombudsman to lodge your complaint and they will contact your credit card company on your behalf. ? Paypal As far as Paypal is concerned you are covered by its buyer protection scheme as long as you do so within 180 days of the booking. A spokesperson told MSE "Purchasers of holidays from Lowcostholidays paid for with PayPal are indeed covered under PayPal buyer protection. They have 180 days from the date of payment to open a dispute relating to the payment." good luck to you!

Q: How do I amend or change my booking? A: If you wish to amend or change your booking, this is usually possible however is subject to availability and pricing from our suppliers, and can only be made by the Lead Guest on the booking. We charge£ a£ 35 GBP admin fee at the time of processing any amendments, however within 7 days of departure we will be unable to make any changes. To provide a quote to process any change, it is best that we speak to you so we can confirm the rate there and then and you can proceed straight away if you wish to do so by making the relevant payments. All amendments are as per the terms and conditions of our suppliers - This includes admin fees and any price increases. If you are looking to amend anything in relation to your flights, and have received your confirmation directly from your airline such as easyJet or Ryanair you will need to contact them directly to make this change.£

I'm looking to book through Lowcostholidays because of the cheap deposit, as it's me and a load of friends on a party holiday to Zante and we can't really afford to pay all upfront straight away. But I was a little concerned about there protection on the holidays. Does anybody know what type of protection I would be getting? I know it's like an EU/Spanish equivalent of ATOL in England. Just want to make sure i'm getting a decent level of protection.

I would not book another holiday using LowCostHolidays, once I had paid for my holiday, I could not reach them by phone or email, it took me nearly 3 weeks to get anyone that knew partly what was going on, and then I was pushed from piller to post and must have been cut off about 10 times, the end result was I had an awful holiday in an awful hotel with awful flights, and to cap it off, my suitcase was lost and my car was damaged by the valet parking company when I returned to the carpark, and they refused to do anything about it, and that little lot cost me £3500 with out even a follow up of any kind after countless emails from the company, beware idiots with gifts

When making this recent booking the site crashed after paying, so called LCH who were very helpful and confirmed the booking was all in order. I was later able to see this was the case on their website.

lowcost are not covered by Abta etc...they are based in Spain so therefore fall out of the UK standard requirements. They will tell you they are protected same as any UK based company but this is not true. If anything goes wrong they will not help you at all... Just read the many reviews on them....google them etc and see for yourself. They left me stranded with 2 children then tried to blame a third party operator.....BEWARE !!!

Hi I believe they are based in Spain which could be the issue. From my experience they are a terrible company who stick people in hotels not fit for purpose and could not care less. sorry that this will not be what you were wanting to hear but TripAdvisor asked me to reply to you honestly. If you can cancel I would do. Check the reviews of where you are staying and also the reviews of the company - I really wish I had!

When I googled this last summer it seemed to be the case that you're still covered. You can always email them or call them to ask. We've booked with Lowcost loads of times and have had some amazing holidays at significantly less cost than others in our hotels. We had to cancel once when our son got chickenpox the day before flying- and 3 days before the ash cloud stopped all flights. Customer Service wasn't the best you'd ever get but we got all of our money back in the end. i think they're great value

As Lowcostholidays puts 'packages together ' and ,for instance you fly Easyjet or any other company that operates from the UK you already are covered for airline failure ( ATOL) . Under Spanish law there is additional cover for package holidays which is very similar to UK cover ,, so ,,as far as I'm concerned I would not worry too much :-) I personally have never had any problems with the company and find them very professional and their site is very easy and transparent to use .. have a good trip!

As I understand it ABTA Assoc British Travel Agents They can no longer be members as they have relocated to Spain .We have just had a dreadful holiday with them in maspalomas. I am awaiting there investigation of it.We have used them on 4 previous occasions and all has gone well and we have enjoyed the holiday. We wish you luck Regards Martin Parker

Not covered by abta Insurance as that is british travel agents and also know they are not covered by atol as that is uk requirement and they are based in spain now. So they use a spanish/european equivalent so holiday still protected. We have used them twice with no problems at all and when needed to speak to them they were v helpful. Hope this helps

I have used Low Cost Holidays a number of times. I usually research the hotel that I want, if they can't offer it I book direct. But I have found that a package from this company is often cheaper, and easier, than booking direct. You can find the answer to your question by visiting their website and clicking on F.A.Q. Enter ABTA or ATOL into the search option and their protection policy is explained. Relax and enjoy your holiday

Everybody SHOULD answer emails immediately, sadly this seldom happens. Try going to their website and looking on F.A.Q.s If that fails I have found, with other companies, that a hard copy, letter, by ordinary mail often gets more attention than an email. On their website you will also find a telephone number.

On their website. Go to FAQ. Type "complaints" there is a useful answer there. Remember that Low Cost Holidays is the AGENT for a multitude of companies and that they will have to raise the complaint on your behalf.
Report this content Disgruntled178459 Written on: 11/08/2014
Write to the company at their GATWICK address. Set out your complaint and back up with pictures and any other evidence such as other people who were there at the same time and witnessed the situation. Be prepared for LCH to dismiss your concerns out of hand, but persist and if they continue to deny responsibility threaten to take it to the Small Claims Court......and do follow it through!!!! It is easy to use this process and you do not need a solicitor. The Court always leans heavily in favour of the individual and will help with your presentation. I got 25% of my holiday price back.

On their web-page there is a section for Frequently Asked Questions. I suspect that the Swedish web-site has something similar and I would think that you should always go to the site where you made the booking? Regards, Old Fogey.

Contact their customer service to find out if its possible and the extra cost.
Report this content ronwhittle Written on: 16/06/2014
Normally it is possible to change a passenger and again normally there is a charge for this - usually fairly nominal. You will need to check Low Cost Holidays booking conditions to see how much - or give them a call.

If the flight is with a low cost airline it can cost more to change a name than to book another flight
Report this content old fogey Written on: 18/06/2014
If you would like to change your booking the best way to process this is to call us. The above is taken from their booking conditions. Low cost Holidays act as agents for many companies. Each company has different terms and conditions. The only way to resolve your problem is to call them. I would guess that there will certainly be a significant charge.

I found Low Cost Holiday very very good in all respect of our holiday, we had a query about how much luggage we could take on holiday after conflicting reports on their website, I phoned low Cost rep and my answer was answered right away, they even gave me a website to confirm it, also everything went to plan and was a very good value for money holiday. Seeing the complaints that some people are experiencing are just minor glitches, considering the amount of people they send on holiday, these few complaints are very trivial.

I booked them on two occasions to fly to Malta and everything worked out perfectly and to plan. There were no bad experiences and I felt they saved me money as if I had booked the flights, hotel and transfers on my own, it would have cost me more. I would use this company again.

From what I understand, you would have to call them. All amendments are subject to a 35GBP administration fee, plus any difference in costs from the hotel supplier and the relevant additional flight charges. In some cases it may not be possible to add someone to your existing hotel reservation. If you make a new reservation you may be liable for full charges for the original hotel reservation. This will be confirmed when you speak to low cost holidays. NOTE........ No changes are possible within 7 days of travel.

You should contact them directly to ask about this, I don't think people on this forum are going to be able to help you... Get your booking reference off the emails you have received. Then login on their page. In the top right there is a link for "existing bookings" If you have problems logging in, you should try the forgotten password link, and if you get really stuck call them. The numbers are at the top of the page. Good luck, they were really helpful to us when we used them.

I have always received details virtually instantaneously following payment. However I did have a problem with my last booking, on arrival at the hotel they said they didn't have a booking for me. However as i had stayed there before they allowed me to stay and I presume they subsequently sorted with LCH. This was at the time LCH were changing from being an English registered company to being a Spanish registered one thus causing them to cease to be ATOL bonded. They are however now an IATA accredited agent, but cannot find out much information relating to this, so don't know how well you are protected. I would keep pestering them for information. Hope you enjoy the break.

I believe so, as part of the paperwork they send you, there is a certificate as proof of protection.
Report this content COLIN2012 Written on: 30/01/2014
This company basically changed from being registered in England to being registered in Majorca around October / November 2013. This resulted in them no longer being ATOL registered. They are however according to their paperwork they are an IATA acredited agent. Correspondance with them has told me that this offers better protection than ATOL. I however cannot find much information on the IATA website (with the ATOL site it tells you there and then whether a company is registered or not and all the detail including the certificate you MUST receive within a few days of booking at the latest) so it remains to be seen. I had been a customer of LCH for a few years and found the service excellent, but my last holiday with them to Majorca in October 2013 resulted in the hotel being unable to trace a booking for me with them. The hotel allowed me to stay and they must have sorted it out with LCH. My investigation on my return didn't get a positive result, one blamed the other and vice versa. However it was at the time of the changeover. Would i use LCH again? No. Not unless they have a change and end up being registered with ATOL.

DO NOT BELIEVE ALL THE RAVE REVIEWS , THE TRUTH IS HERE ...... Read on "I,d be very wary of booking with Low Cost Holidays. They work under a Policy which means ABTA.ATOL will not assist you in case of problems with your holiday. We spent a horrendous 3 weeks in Spain, we were in the worst room ever, had items stolen by locals and lived with no cooker, kettle or fridge on a self catering holiday with 3 young children. We spent a small fortune on feeding our children and moving accommodation ourselves. Alas we did not recieve a penny in compensation, whilst Low Cost appear to be ABTA / ATOL Protected believe me they are NOT. They work through a agent of the same name who have no cover whatsoever." CHECK FOR YOURSELF, AFTER THE HOLIDAY YOU WILL HAVE NO COME BACK, NOT COVERED BY ABTA OR ATOL :(
