“Worst car rental experience ever”

I booked a car, paid in advance, entered the flight to the form. As written on the website, "Enter the flight/train number so we can check for delays". Yeah, right... The flight was delayed and I arrived to the Rome Fiumicino office shortly before their closing time. However, no one was there for a long time, Europcar and few other were still there but not Maggiore, lights were off, just nothing. “WORST COMPANY EVER, ALL THEY DO IS STEAL YOUR MONEY”

When we got the car they told us to sign some papers for saying that we got the car but when got home from our holiday in Italy we found out that they totally TRICKED us. They instead had us signed papers for them to get an EXTRA £100. This just made me so angry we couldn't do anything and then they told us that there were some scratches when there wasn't and that we were FINED an EXTRA £100 for that too. This is complete INSANE. “Awful customer service and clearly a scam company”

Arrived to be told that they would be holding €2500 on our card to get the car, even though we'd bought the maximum available insurance. When we get to the lot, the Maggiore attendant is shouting and swearing at customers and throwing things. Has his friend move a car that is front of our rental, but does not check the car himself. “Rude, aggressive staff. Totally appalled.”

I arrived in Milan Bergamo with my husband at the start of July on our honeymoon. Our flight was on time from but our baggage was one of the last to come off the plane. We went straight to the Maggiore office, arriving at 22.09. Unbeknown to us the official closing time of the office is 22.00 - after this is considered "out of hours'' and liable to a 'call-out fee'. Bad service, uncoordinated and inefficient. I forgot a tablet in the trunk, called them an hour after we left the car and asked them to keep it for two days until I return to the airport. When I came back they said there is no tablet, spent three hours calling each other's offices and chatting. I booked a car for 3 days in Sicily for €89,- before to complete bCollingwood out that I need to pay €30.- for "protezione completta". After paying for two weeks car hire in august 2014 we arrived in Rome where because there was a person in dispute we had to wait two hours to receive our car When we returned it to Pisa airport we were charged 8 euros for cleaning the car we which we assumed they would do anyway on the way to pisa we had stopped off to refuel the car at the last service station on the F1P1L1 and all we could get into the tank was 1.11. euros at the airport they informed us that it needed 5 litres and a 20 euro… Read Full Review

Dreadful experience with Maggiore 4 April to 11 April 2015. Booked a car through 'Holiday Autos' on line to collect from Milan Malpensa airport on 4 April. This was booked on 26 March and I had all the relevant documentation. The fee payable at the Maggiore counter was €287. The booking agent took a fee of £21. “Maggiore will leave you stranded in Italy”

My family and I recently traveled to Italy for a ski trip in the Dolomite Mountains. We landed in Venice, didn't wait too long to get the car arranged through Maggiore (previous reservation), were pleasantly surprised to get upgraded to a Jeep Cherokee, and took off for our destination. “Maggiore Bari Car Rental”

We have to wait 1,5 hours to getting "allmost" a rental car. And there was only 4 customers in front of us. The staff was most of the time talking on the phone with other staff at the parking place outside and with staff coming in. On the counters of the other companies they need 7 minutes per customer. When I try to get my car the staff was very harshly. I try all my 3 Creditcards which (I double check it at home) was moneywise all able to fit the caution. But they say it was not working. Unhelpful and unfriendly staff. We had to an additional insurance otherwise we would have had to leave a 1800 Euro guarantee although we already paid for that insurance in Germany. “The worse company !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I had the worse experience in my life with Maggiore Rent in Italy. The car was not ready in time for which we reserved it and paid in advance. After waiting, we were told to sign a contract. We had to wait another 35 minutes to get the car that had only about 20% of the tank full. When we gave it back, we were charged an extra full day the month after for not having put enough fuel in the tank (we did add more) and to have brought it back 30 minutes too late from the time we signed the… Read Full Review

“Be careful with maggiore Catania”

We got the car at Catania airport at midnight. Nobody was there and there was no light. It seemed the car was ok. When we returned it, they told us we would have to pay for a bump on the floor of the vehicle. But we have not caused a bump and it was not even visible to us. Sorry for my poor english, i'm french ;-)). I needed a car one week (check-in Palermo, Check-out Trapani). Among other offerings, the company "Maggiore" had the most attractive price. On the check-in, they only give me the keys of the car and indicate a park-number on the parking without any explanation. We had a car booked to travel around Italy, when we arrive at Rome Training Station we had to wait 20+ minutes because the sales assistant was slow! When we were finally served he refused to let us have the car because we didn't have a credit card, the information we had (from easycar.com) said we needed the bank card paid that was used to pay (which was a debit). Rented a car from Maggiore at Treviso Airport in July.Car was dirty, not cleaned out. We found a childs toy in the rear door pocket!That wouldnt be too .....bad but they slapped an extra driver charge on to my credit card despite telling me there was nothing extra to pay.
