“Cairo Tour, Terrible Experience with Five Star Travel...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by YOWORLD on 11/12/2022

We stayed in Hurghada from 23/11/2022 to 06/12/2022 and wanted to visit Cairo on a day trip by plane, we found this tour agency in Hurghada and purchased the tour to Cairo. Upon arrival to Cairo on 01/12/2022 we met the tour guide, Mr M. who was an old man, grey short hair and average height, according to him he was the organiser of the tours for the Pyramid for this company and was a tour leader for more than 25 years. We were very dissatisfied with the conduct and attitude of the tour guide from the beginning, he had limited overall knowledge and the information he provided was mainly about the length and height of the different structures. When we were at the Museum and the Pyramids, I heard the other tour leaders providing detailed information over the different aspects of the artefacts, however our tour guide had very limited knowledge and was not able to give more information, so I joined other tours in order to get more information over the artefacts. At times he spoke with nasty vulgar language, for example passing through a shopping centre in Egypt he was only focused with the area which sold "Sexy Underwear" for women which was embarrassing for my wife and other women in the tour. On another occasion he said out loud that Egyptian men ate Pigeons because it increased sexual function and libido in men. The time given at the Cairo museum was very short most of which taken by his useless information, at the end of the tour when my wife wanted to buy some souvenirs we were disturbed several times by him to say that we don't have time and we have to move on and the shop there was expensive, he told us he will bring us to another shopping centre in Egypt that has far better prices, my wife was therefore dissuaded to buy a necklace she liked. The shop he took us at the end of the Pyramid visit was a very old small shop in the poor district of Egypt with very limited number of items, my wife was disappointed as why this man prevented her from buying the necklace at the Egypt museum and brought us to that shop, his main intention was to take commissions from the purchases the tourists made For lunch there was a low-class restaurant he apparently had a contact for getting his commission, food was of poor quality and the drinks had to be paid separately by ourselves despite paying a lot of money for the tour. He then wasted a lot of our time by taking us to a Papyrus shop that was not in the plan, again for the commissions he received from the shop owner he was acquainted by purchases made by the tourists. Following the Pyramid visit he wasted our time by taking some of the tourists to a perfume shop that was not in the plan, we told him that he should have brought us to a shopping mall where everybody could do the shopping according to their desire. Another example of the vulgar and vile conduct and attitude of this man was when we came back from the Pyramid tour, the driver was not in the car, we were left int he middle of heavy chaotic traffic of Egypt on the street with potential risk of accident, I asked him where was the driver, this question was apparently not to his liking, he put his hands on his reproduction organs and showed with his hand in a rude manner that the driver had gone to the toilet, my wife was very upset by his action. On a few occasions we noticed he was ripping off some tourists of the group who had not enough knowledge over the exchange rates of currency. Altogether our day in Cairo we were so much looking forward was ruined by the misconduct vile and vulgar attitude of this man, our advice to tourists is not to take the Cairo tour with this company and tour guide, especially if there are women and children in the group. Altogether our visit to Cairo and Pyramids was ruined by this tour guide who came across as an arrogant, rude and vulgar man with bad temper and vile manners, focused only on counting the Euros he received from the tourists and his commissions from the amenities he took us.

“I went to Egypt last December with a couple friends....”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 03/01/2010

I went to Egypt last December with a couple friends. We decided to book everything through a Travel Agency because we did not know a lot about the country's rich history, and we did not want to miss any detail. We asked for: transportation airport-hotel-airport, 3 Star Hotel in Cairo, short Tour in Cairo, 5 Stars Cruise on the Nile (Luxor, Aswan, Edfu, Kom-Ombo, Philae, Abu Simbel, etc), Sleeping Train, and Tour to Alexandria.

The representatives in Cairo was kind and nice. Nevertheless they booked a Hostel instead of the 3 Star Hotel we requested. We told the representative about that and he just ignored us and told us to pay more if we wanted to change. The Sleeping Train was ok but if you can fly, do it. The tour guide in the south was very nice and really an expert, nevertheless I think he can improve a lot. We had to ask a lot to get information in the temples because after a few words he just gave us "free time". We went to Abu Simbel, and it was the shortest visit ever, like 30 min. We were totally disappointed because we had no idea about the reasons for that, and of course, we got no information from our Tour Operator. The driver for Abu Simbel and Aswan could not speak any English... really weird situation.

Back in Cairo we asked the tour representative for a Map of the city, and he told us: well, buy one somewhere!! After the kind "hint" we did it, and we got a very bad map (the only we could find so far). We found the nice maps only during the last day in the Coptic Church (by chance, no reccommendation of our guide in Cairo). The one day tour to Alexandria was ok, but we went with the Van through the city really fast, and we had to ask at the end for additional stops at the highlights of the city in order to take a few nice pics.

In conclusion, we paid a lot and we were not satisfied at all with the service we got. If you are trying to go to Egypt, you'd better look for other Tour Operator.
