“Very impressed ! ”

★★★★☆

written by WilliamGee12 on 02/11/2017

Having bought a good quality second hand car from EH Citroen Sheffield, I was very worried about what might happen when things went a little wrong. I was worried due to all the negative reviews I'd read. The reviews were so frightening for me to read and caused me some degree of upset and panic. However , I would ( in retrospect ) say ... don't rely on reviews and don't be intimidated by them. My experience was quite the opposite and I found the help and support I received from the Dealer Principal to be most encouraging . My requests and concerns were dealt with immediately , he was professional, easy to approach, understanding and very fair. I would like to say a public 'thank you' on this review site for the after sales service and the understanding that I received . A. G .

“1 OWNER - FULL SERVICE HISTORY !!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AndreasBurgess150 on 24/09/2017

After browsing their online used car sales I visited the Citroen Sheffield Dealership in person to view a vehicle. I was dealt with by a young salesman (SM). We agreed on a PCP finance deal, I raised a few concerns regarding the interior of the vehicle. The details regarding a cigarette burn, an agreed repair, the need for a full interior valet and also a request for an odour bomb to be used was recorded on a customer agreement and subsequently signed. I visited the dealership on 17/09/17 to pick up the vehicle; I was again dealt with salesman SM. Upon inspection it was very clear that the cigarette burn had not been repaired, the interior had not received a full valet and clearly had not been vacuumed to a high standard and also it was apparent that no car air freshener had been used due to its strong smell of cigarette smoke. The above concerns were discussed with the business manager, who upon inspection of the vehicles interior agreed that the interior was not to the required standard expected. He apologised and advised that the vehicle would be fully valeted, the cigarette burn would be repaired, an odour bomb would be used and in addition the vehicle would be delivered to my home address with a full tank of petrol. I agreed to this. Later that afternoon I was browsing their your online vehicle service plans and contacted SM via telephone to confirm the above vehicles service history and the date of its last service. He advised he would check and phone me back. He later phoned me back to advise that unfortunately he could not locate a Service History Handbook and would need to investigate. He phone dback to advise that unfortunately the dealership was not in possession of a Service History Handbook and he was going to contact the previous owner to obtain service history records. He confirmed that the vehicle had been advertised with 1 previous owner & full service history. My disappointment with his level of service was relayed to him and asked for the dealer principle to contact me. He conntacted me and apologised for the problems with the interior and advised that ‘valetor’ had been over vigorous with the nozzle which had led to the cigarette repair being damaged. He offered me a full tank of petrol and 50% off a future service. I advised him that I was not willing to accept the above vehicle without it’s full service history and advised I was extremely upset that his dealership was willing to hand over the vehicle to me without the agreed interior valet fully completed to an acceptable standard and without the vehicles full service history available. He could not guarantee me that the previous owner would have these readily available. I therefore advised him that I was not willing to accept the above vehicle and was withdrawing from the finance agreement. Am still awaiting confirmatino that the agreement has been fully cancelled !!

“Collection of car post service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Houston227 on 05/06/2017

Had our Citroen C1 serviced here this week and was told the wrong collection time. Was not informed to be here before 12:30 on Saturday so when we arrived 13.45 we were informed the keys were locked up until Monday morning so had to return then .I did question If there was a fire in the rooms where log book and other services cars keys stored how emergency access would be gained.Computers could set fire and was told would have to wait until fire services would arrive!!.Would not recommend having your car serviced here at all .Poor customer service had to return to collect keys and log book 2 days later and go home to collect spare key .

“Dishonest, Stay away!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Eliezer240 on 16/07/2016

Dont ever buy a car from here. You will regret it. I bought a car from here in July 2016. Initially they tried to sell me a car which had a dint in it and they didnt mention anything about the dint. When I pointed out it had a dint they claimed they knew nothing about the dint which I find hard to believe. When they got the dint fixed and asked me to come and pick it up I spotted another scratch on the car which wasnt there the last time. When i pointed it out they tried making out it was nothing and they wanted me to take the car as it was so that they could get the sale in for their monthly target as it was the last day of the month. I refused to take it till the scratch was gone. When they eventually sorted out the problems I went to pick it up and paid the rest of the money and when I got home i relaised they had charged me 200 pounds too much. When i rang them the next day to tell them they overcharged me they said the money would be back in my account within 3 days. The money didnt get back into my account until 2 weeks later and many more phone calls from me to chase it up. After having the car for 2 weeks i heard a noise in the car so i took it down to my local garage. They did a diagnostic test and said theres something not right with the engine mount. So i rang evan halshaw and booked it in as it was in the 3 month warranty period. I told them that my local garage had found an issue on the diagnstic machine relating to the engine mount. They asked me to bring it in so few hours later they rang me and asked to to pick it up as all the checks were ok and theres no problems with it. I was surprised that they didnt pick anything up. When I took it back home and checked the paperwork I realised they had done diagnostics on the suspension mount and not the engine mount!!!. I rang them back to ask they they had been checking the suspension mount when i clearly rang them and told them my local garage had found a problem with the engine mount, they had no answer.. My car is still with them as I type. My advice avoid this place like the plague. When you buy and Audi A7 for £28k you expect things to go smoothly and you certainy dont expect anything wrong with it but if you buy a car from here then be ready for the unexpected.

“Accident repair, used vehicles but dont tell you ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by FernandaHorton on 23/01/2016

Very nearly bought a used vehicle lovely bright green Clio Initiale1.6 automatic 5 door, 10 plate from them, wouldn't trust anything they tell you now. At no point did they make me aware that it had been in an accident. The HPI check came out all ok I had a mechanic check who spotted some things weren't lined up and could tell it had bits removed and sprayed. He opened the book holder in the dash and found 2 full sheets of A4 paper from an accident repair centre of the work done on including new tailgate, bumper, windscreen, repair clamp and pull rear, repairs to cross member etc...... The tyres were barely legal They have a big sign recommending changing cambelt every 5 years, I asked if this had been done as the car is 6 years old and I know it would be recommended on the MOT, they said they had know way of knowing if it had being done. My existing car I have had done twice and its written in the service book but nothing in this vehicles. I enquired with the Renault garage it had been serviced with before as they couldn't be bothered who told me it hadn't. This was before I had the mechanic check it over. Yes its being repaired by a proper company however I don't feel they are honestly selling the item as described. If Id have bought then found out I would have been gutted. It is not worth the price tag they have on it they need to be upfront and honest not mislead you into buying. Potentially this could make the car weaker if it was in another accident I don't know what other effects it might have had on the vehicle but the previous owner didn't want to keep yet it looks great but these are deceiving.

“BEWARE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lpCormier378 on 13/12/2014

Evans Halshaw Sheffield and Alphera Financial Services are dishonest Traders. I would not go near them for any reason. I went to Evans Halshaw Sheffield to buy a car on hire purchase and they did not do anything properly as prescribed by law. I bought the car for my husband and wanted it to be in his name so they advised he has to come in and sign the finance document. Evans Halshaw was aware from start that I was the purchaser and they asked me to sign the New Vehicle Order form as Purchaser which I did before they ordered the vehicle but now because they did not provide me with any of the documents or information as prescribed by law they now claim I was only negotiator. Even a negotiator has the right to Pre contract information etc as that is what should be provided to help them decide if they wanted the finance or not. When I started I asked what the interest rate would be for taking out finance over 4 years and they said 2.99% fixed. I asked if there was any hidden charges I needed to know about and they said no but actually 2.99% was not he answer to my question as the real interest rate for taking out finance over 4 years was more than 11%. What they did was tell me the interest rate per annum when what I wanted was for 4 years Then they got my husband to sign the finance documents and NEVER let him take away any of the finance document claiming they were not allowed to do that and only the finance company could do that and usually by post. They said that to my husband and also wrote it in a letter to us. Now they claim they gave all the documents to my husband after he signed them 3 of the signed signatures are 100% clearly NOT my husband's signature. The person who signed on behalf of the company never administered any document to my husband. We bought the car end of Sept 2014 brand New and We never got any finance document we signed because Evans Halshaw claimed the finance company had to give them to us. The finance company never sent them to us and when requested we got them 3 Nov 2014. We asked to be given the opportunity to exercise our statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days after receiving the contract but they refused and insisted on penalizing us since the 14 day withdrawal period had expired but truth is we never received any finance document till more than one month after we signed the documents. We wanted to withdraw because it was not what interest rate they told us that they wrote in the finance document which explains why they never gave us any finance document as prescribed by law Its all so complicated and so I cannot put everything in writing. The only thing they did right was order the vehicle get my husband to sign the finance document and after that it has been lies upon lies and even gone as far as providing documents with signatures that are not my husband's signatures just to cover their back. The complaints Manager is something else. Distorting information and lots of lies just to cover their back. Alphera Financial Services supported everything Evans Halshaw their partner in crime have said regarding this issue. I have taken this further and still awaiting a decision. RUN RUN RUN away for your dear life anywhere you see Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as all they are waiting to do is take away your heard earned money through dishonest means and without regard to legislation. They have no regard for consumer rights at all My Honest Advise 1. Do NOT have any dealings with Evans Halshaw or Alphera Financial Services as they are very dishonest 2. If you must Ask for APR before ever considering any dealing with them and if they dont give it RUN for your dear Life 3. Get everything in writing and INSIST on taking away EVERY single document you sign 4. Request for a Pre Contract Information and insist on taking it away before you ever sign any contract 5. Do NOT sign a contract without reading through the whole document. Specifically ask for the terms and conditions. Just contact me if you need more information and I will explain further

“If the above review is about Evans Halshaw, Renault...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/01/2010

If the above review is about Evans Halshaw, Renault Sheffield, then I totally agree. They are a nightmare and don't hold their word. I was drawn to them for a keenly priced second hand car but beware of the add on costs they put. Also, once you have the car (or they have your money) the sales staff are difficult to get hold off. They are "on the phone", "with a customer" or even "the person you need to speak to is on holiday". I would avoid these people unless you are fond of involving third parties e.g. trading standards!

“TOTAL RIP-OFF! LOADS OF LIES AND NEVER REALISE PROMISES ”

TOTAL RIP-OFF! LOADS OF LIES AND NEVER REALISE PROMISES

Never never ever buy anything from this dealer! I just wish I have read the review before I went to them. Unfortunately I only discovered this after I was committed to a purchase of a used car. And now it turns out how wrong I was putting trust in the worst car dealer and customer service I ever seen so far, and I become a victim of that too, totally ripped-off! They are completely trust worthless! If you do need to have a deal with them, DO HAVE YOUR EYES WIDE OPEN, CHECK EVERYTHING IN DETAIL BEFORE SIGNING CONTRACT AND INSPECT THE WORK THEY DONE CAREFULLY, they are
complete two faced people, and they are only interested in your pocket money!
My experiences: I signed a contract for a used car after a test driving, in which I spotted a few problems and asking them to fix as part of the contract. Including repairing dents, put a new CV gaitor and put in right radio code to make it work. After 2 weeks, before the estimate delivery date, I phoned the dealer a number of times to have them confirm the work has been done, but no response at all. All I hear is the receptionist keep telling me the guy in charge was "on phone", "with customer" or "in meeting", and never called back. That's where the nightmare started.
Only on the date, i got a call from him, telling me the service was only booked in on the COMING monday! I said you had 2 weeks to do it why so slow, he made up an execuse.
All the work should take less than a day really, he promised me to have it ready by Tuesday, but I called and called, form Tuesday through to Thursday, he's always "unavailable", like he's not existent! Having been pissed off I paid a visit to the local branch again, he made up lots of rediculous execuses, and promised work to be done by end of the day, and I will have it 11am Friday.
As you may guess, LIE again! I was totally annoyed and spoke to a manager, who assured me over and over again, and asked me to pick the car in Friday afternoon.

At last in the end of that day the car is there "ready" for me. Unfortunately, the CV-gaitor was not done at all, so I made them to do it right away. Because of the darkness (winter time), I was not able to check the exterior of the car completely, and bad things came in the next day right away.
On the next day, I discovered that some small dents on the driver door panel was not removed, and bonet seems to have new scratches. Whats worse, windscreen got a small stonechip which looks like been there fora while, and remote fob is not working (which was working during test drive)!!! How disastrous and how stupid I was putting trust in them to have sorted everything.

I went to them and asking for an explanation, they refused to do anything about anything of these, basically the point was that I couldnt show it was due to their cause and my warranty does not cover those. I was sure the remote fob worked, and failed becaus they disconnected battery in order to fix the radio, which is very likely the cause of the mal-function. But again, no hope and no success at all.
Now I feel been totally ripped off, I have to suck up the cost of other repairs. All because I naively trusted them thinking they would do at least as well as other dealers, but as you see how wrong I have been.

Only advice I have is to STAY AWAY from them. There are lots of alternatives you can get decent service from. If you do need to deal with them for any unfortunate reasons, BE VERY CAREFUL AND PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS OF THE WORK THEY HAVE DONE, FULLY INSPECT UNTIL YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY HAPPY!
