“Appalling lack of service and communication”

I can only echo what other reviewers have written recently. I sent an old but very expensive pair of Ray Ban sun glasses for repair 7 weeks ago and despite phone calls, texts, emails and voice messages, have heard not a single thing from them. This website should be closed down. Do not use the "service" if you want peace of mind, or to see your specs again. (read more)

My reading glasses frame broke on 30 March, and on 2 April I sent my glasses for repair to Spec-Tech in response to their web page which advertises "98% Same Day Turnaround" and "Your glasses will normally be repaired within 24 hours". After a week I phoned their landline with no response and mobile which diverted to voicemail where I left my phone number but they did not return my call. “Say goodbye to your glasses”

I can't give no stars so had to give one. The website looked legit so I sent my glasses here 6 weeks ago by recorded delivery and have not seen them since! I have phoned, emailed and written to the Spec Tech asking for a repair or my glasses to be returned but they have completely ignored me. I doubt I will ever see my glasses again. Will be reporting to police and Trading Standards. (read more)

Don't give up hope - I nearly had but got my glasses back today, repaired, after 7 weeks. Just phone their landline number every morning - very very occasionally they answer, when thet do they'll lie, but eventually they will fix and return your glasses.

To be completely fair to Spec Tech, a few days after posting this comment, I received a call from them to say that my glasses had been repaired in the sum of £18. I haven't had them back yet so can't comment on the quality of the repair.

Just recieved my glasses,sent two for repair,one pair was totally brocken,other on nose piece.spec-tech rang me and explained in deatail before they went a head with repairs,very honest and profecinal,did not try to sale me any other glasses or unwanted extras,not like most repairers i rang.quick turn around and no messing,cannot believe the bad reviews,i dont normally reccomend people but i have to reccomend spec-tch 100% positive,bought a extra pair as well,please dont knock them until you... I too sent my glasses off because the website states that 98% are repaired and sent back same day. I posted mine on Monday 11 Jan 2013 by next day recorded delivery. They received them Tuesday am 12 January. I phoned on Wednesday 13th as I hadn't heard anything and he told me he was just opening the mail (yesterdays) and could I hold on. “Poor repair, poor service and no contact”

I sent my expensive varifocals to them not having explored the reviews for this service (I usually do!) and had to chase my specs over 10 days to get them back. They snapped in the same place that had been supposedly repaired using a pin and glue: no pin to be seen so it was a glueing job that I could have done myself and saved £25! NEVER USE SPEC-TECH! I sent an expensive pair of glasses for a minor repair without checking the guy out for reviews first. It was only when I hadn't heard anything for a few days that I came on-line and found a lot of complaints including people who say they have never had their glasses back. This is a dreadful company, that needs to stop doing business. I have phoned and phoned..no reply..I even phoned the nail salon next door..' oh yes he does work there, but never comes to work, yes lots of people call us to see if he is still operating' I sent off my expensive glasses..I wonder if I will ever see them again. “Broken promises”

I was impressed by the 98% same day turnaround mentioned on the website - 3 weeks later, no glasses. I leave on holiday tomorrow. I spoke to the guy a week ago and he said he'd just repaired them, and charged me an extra £1.50 for signed-for postage. This is against the 'posted back to you at no extra cost' policy advertised on the website. Phone calls are seldom answered, mobile voicemail box is full. I am feeling so sorry that why I have not read these reviews before. I have sent glasses last week and in last 3 days I have made 5 calls and 1 email. Only 2 calls were answered. Some replied and promised to call me back in 10min. What the Hack. Is there any way to blacklist this company and send their report to CrimeController or somewhere like this. “Incompetent,dishonest take your pick ”

Don't even try and email them -they just don't reply, if you are lucky to get through on the phone be ready to be fobbed off with excuses and promises.So don't send your specs or you will never get them back or is you do in the distant future you probably need a new eye test. Absolute sham! Service nothing of the sort described on website. Posted glasses for minor repair. No phone call for a week. Had to call twice before call was returned and the one man bandwagon confirmed he received my glasses and would have them out the next day. A week later still not received! Please do not go with this company. I choose them because they seemed to have a friendly website and displayed a picture of their shop front. This made me think it was a real company with real people behind it, rather than some sort of big business. Although this may be true, it really did not add to their service.

I sent off my glasses 2 weeks ago and having heard nothing started phoning, there is now an intercept on the line saying you can't leave a message and call later.
No response to e-mail either so far.
Wish I had read these reviews before sending off my glasses.
