“Warning: avoid ordering from Furniture 24/7 ”

Written on: 17/05/2013

Truly dreadful experience dealing with this company. The goods eventually arrived 3 days after the promised date. On arrival they were found to be significantly damaged so delivery was refused and the delivery men returned the goods to their depot. Furniture 24/7 failed to respond to many emails. Two weeks after my final email to them, I received a response from them saying that they'd be making a 'restocking charge' of 25% + 4% admin fee as I'd cancelled the order. I had every reason to... “Think Twice Before Ordering Any Item from Furntiure 24/7”

Written on: 11/05/2013 by claneath

I ordered a futon mattress for a sofa beneath my daughter's bed. It was filled with loose pieces of foam (beware - this is standard practice - don't buy one!! research and get a properly made one using bonded wool) This foam is lumpy in the extreme. When putting the 'back' against the sofa the filling falls away and leaves an empty fabric top, which of course won't even stand up. I called them to collect it as faulty and was told that they don't collect (same man each time). The second time... (read more)

“ABSOLUTELY AWFUL EXPERIENCE”

I would have given no stars at all if possible. Customer Service absolute rubbish and totally unprofessional, beware!!! I'm stuck with a piece of furniture I didn't want. They delivered the wrong colour and due to their awful customer service I then asked for a refund rather than exchange. They simply refuse to pick the item up again saying it's my responsibility to return the piece if I want a refund rather than an exchange - they are probably well aware that it would cost me almost as... Furn247 also known as furniture123 and pineonline are truly horrible... we had problems with a few years ago. Heres our advice:
1 phone "consumer direct" and tell them about this. Ask them how to cancel your order as you need to word the letter correctly & post it via recorded delivery.
2 Furn247 have, by law, 30 days from the date on your cancellation letter to refund you. You have to give them this time BUT dont expect a refund as these people have a long history of ignoring this law.
3 once the 30 days have expired, call your card issuing bank (the card you used to pay furn247) and tell them about your situation and that you wish to apply for a "chargeback".
4 banks are very reluctant to help with this so ask to speak to the manager and insist they help you. If they refuse, tell them you will contact the financial ombudsman and report the bank unless they initiate your chargeback.
5 if your bank still refuse to help, call the financial ombudsman and report your bank. The ombudsman are very helpful & will write to your bank ordering them to help you.
6 your bank will want info about the order and whats happened/copies of emails - anything you have that prooves you've tried but failed to get your refund.
7 your bank will assess your case and give you their "final answer". If the bank refuse to refund you, go back to the ombudsman who will assess your case and decide whether or not your bank should refund you.
This is how we got all of our money back.. Goodluck.

After 5 E-Mails they finally responded saying they would send different runners. two months later they sent runners for 2 drawers - we needed enough for 5. Complained. Hi.. my advice, phone "consumer direct" tell them whats happened & ask them how to cancel the order formally by letter as it has to be worded right. By law they must refund you within 30 days of the date on your letter of cancellation. But trust me, they wont refund you - we gave them 50 days. Your only hope is to go to your bank and ask for a "chargeback" - visa debit or credit card all the banks are signed up to the chargeback scheme but you have to be demanding and really push them to help. If they refuse, phone the "financial ombudsman" and they will force your bank to help. Report all this to trading standards too. One last thing, dont wait - you could lose your right to a chargeback if you wait too long. Good luck.

My suspicion is that the author of this review "works" for furniture 247 and as such i would like to say to them that if they don't want "nasty things" written about them, they should learn to treat people with respect and stop taking people's money in return for shoddy, damaged goods which people have to pay to send back - on top of a "29% re-stocking fee" which according to trading standards is ILLEGAL as it does not comply with the distance selling regulations. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE - YOU WILL BE LEFT ANGRY AND OUT OF POCKET.

Hi.. you've done the right thing buying on credit card and asking them for a chargeback - if they refuse, lodge a complaint with financial ombudsman who will force your bank to help. Forget any hope of refund from furn247 - they won't. This is a "company" who i believe send out cheap, damaged rubbish every time so they can charge you to send it back - and even then they still wont refund you. Its worth reporting your case to trading standards even though 100 or so victims have already done so only to be told "not enough have complained" maybe soon they will get off their lazy backsides and sort them out. Good luck & keep pushing your bank for that chargeback.

Do you mind sharing what happened then? Did you get your refund back?

I have encountered a very nasty situation with them recently too. I had just bought a dining table and the driver just left them on the concierge area (i live in a flat with lifts) and refused to deliver it despite we rang them earlier to clarify whether the items would be delivered to our flat doorstep. The company said they would if my flat has lifts. They confirmed it twice. The delivery man was so rude and refused to let us inspect the goods as per instructed by the email confirmation to sign on receipt and to inspect before receiving it. The delivery man was yelling at my sister and left without any reasoning. The company's manager was so unhelpful and told us as long the goods are delivered it is considered accepted. He told us to ring him if there's any damage to the goods but the company's website for refund is to have the goods in its packaging. I have formally lodged a complaint and still awaiting for their reply as we were not given a chance to inspect the goods at all and also given wrong information about the delivery.

I would be grateful if you could share what happened then.

Update on progress since I posted this review.
Well, we now have a permanent refund in our credit card, so we are not out of pocket.
I emailed the company (waste of time ringing) giving them a further week to arrange collection of their property, this expired on 28th August. Remember, I asked them to arrange this back at the start of June, so they have already had 2 months to sort this out.
As usual, no response, so I am just checking into the legalities of me donating the order to either the local council tip, or possibly a charity.
Will keep you posted.

Many people have tried, they, like me, have written to Trading Standards thinking they would stop them but all they say is that there aren't enough complaints and refuse to do anything about it. The ONLY thing you can do is go to your bank and ask for a chargeback. They will post you the forms and you send it back with all letters, emails that you have sent the company and hope you get it. Hope you don't bank with Santander.. its been 10 months and I have only just had a token compensation--the bank actually wanted me to speak to the traders! I went to the Financial Ombudsman and squeezed £100 out of the bank; obviously the Ombudsman found fault with the bank. Thery have a high workload and I'm not at all surprised--what they should do is to come down Hard on the banks and we wouldn't have to wait to be compensated.

Best thing is to ask for a chargeback from your bank or credit card company.-- whether you paid by credit card or debit, doesn't matter. If you get any problems from your bank, get in touch with the Financial Ombudsman (who must be totally sick of this 'company').

I ordered a Pine Four Poster bed with memory foam mattress in January from Furniture 24/7my Credit Card and said that when I return home in March I will call up to arrange delivery, I was assured that if I rang before Lunchtime the day before that I would expect to get the goods delivered the next day. I returned from operational service overseas and duly rang the depot in Manchester to arrange delivery ( I rang at 10Am the day before), I was informed that it woulod take two weeks to... You can get your money back from your credit card company, do so asap.
They used to be pineonline--if you google the ''Echo'' newspaper you will see some of them met their fate. I just hope that it won't be too long before Furniture247 meet with the same.

“ANOTHER MUG CONNED”

Written on: 10/04/2012

Unfortunately, I didn't look at the review site before ordering a table and six chairs from furniture 247. The chairs arrived on the due date, but the table mysteriously did not appear, despite being reassured that it had been despatched. After 6 months of telephone calls, emails, sending letters by recorded delivery, advice from consumer organisations, etc., we have been left with 6 chairs, still packed in their original packaging, and no table. We cancelled order, were told they would... (read more)

“AVOID THIS COMPANY”

Written on: 05/04/2012

Using the description on the web page I ordered a Pocket Sprung divan bed, what arrived (minus casters) was a quite different bed. I specifically went for a 'no turn mattress' - the bed sent said ' turn mattress regularly'. The mattress was described as having handles and vent holes, none of which were present. It was obviously not the bed set described. Despite getting advice from the Trading Standards Institution, the Furniture Ombudsman, the Financial Ombudsman Service and my credit... (read more)

Hi, you can try to get your money back via the visa chargeback scheme (if you paid by visa) you have 120 days from reciept of delivery to file a claim with your bank. There are lots of tips on here left behind by others you may wish to read them. Sadly trading standards are a complete and utter disgrace and a waste of time everyone of us have reported this company to them - but they won't do anything about it because they say there hasn't been enough complaints. You should have asked them exactly how many complaints do they need - is it a percentage/a number? they're pathetic. If you make a purchase from a dodgy company - you maybe wise to phone your card issuer and ask them to cancel your card and send you a new one - they will understand and won't have a problem with that - it's better to be safe than sorry. All the best

I ordered a dining set from john lewis, a double bed from argos and a chest of drawers from B&Q - all were IN STOCK and ALL arrived on time a week later. I also ordered from furniture247 and my order arrived weeks LATE and when i unpacked it, it was badly damaged. The service was rude, atrocious, i had them hang up the phone on me twice, they were slow to deliver, the goods i recieved are different to those i ordered, they refuse refund, they charge their customers to send damaged items back - plus a 29% "restocking fee" on top - i could go on. I'm not sure which company this review is on about, but in my experience, it certainly isn't furniture247

You are absolutely right. I have tried Trading Standards and they just aren't interested; say they haven't had enough complaints! On this site alone there are over 100. FURN247 said on another site they were signed with ''Safebuy'' they even put up a certificate saying so. I knew they weren't, emailed Safebuy and they confirmed they weren't. No word is adequate to describe what I feel about them. They even put glowing reviews about themselves on review sites, they check them daily! I have reported many, and Furn247 have had the gaul to threaten legal action, saying I have put defamatory comments and had them taken off. The absolute NERVE.

Best thing to do now is to go to your bank and request a visa chargeback, they will send you the forms, however if they refuse you for any reason, go to the Financial Ombudsman.
In my opinion, Furn247 will lie to the bank; I told my bank that but it made no differencve--they refused me saying I should read Furn247's policy and to SPEAK to Multi Ecommerce!! I was livid! I hope you don't bank with Santander; their visa chargeback team are nothing but a bunch of kids who haven't a clue about traders or the Sale of Goods ACT 1979/Distance Selling Regulations. And Trading Standards? They should be in court for turning a blind eye to what has been staring them in the face for YEARS!

Here's what I think: You should cancel it now, why? Because it will most likely be damaged, we have all had the same problem on here; the bank will be more encouraged to give you a chargeback if you have cancelled and haven't got your money back--because you Won't get it back I can assure you. Also, keep every bit of correspondence because you'll need it whether you take delivery or not :(

Hi Ch4R1le,

There's a programme going out on the BBC called The legaliser; I've noticed someone from the programme has been asking people on here if they have been refunded. I don't know when this programme is coming out but we can hope it will save some people from getting conned--and the sooner the better.

I managed to get refunded by my insurers, Saga, but it took a 3 month fight that I really didn't need; Santander refused me, sending me a copy of the rogue trader's policy, if you please, and telling me to talk to Multi Ecommerce! I was so incensed; how come that the Visa Chargeback dept don't know about the Sale of Goods Act and the Distance Selling Regulations--or is it that they don't want to know, I was furious and have had the FO investigate them; they did find a fault but hear This, they have offered me £50.00 in compensation--this is the FO. I declined it as an insult and told them so, so they are ''having another look at it''.. doesn't it make you want to scream, Ch4R1le?

I agree Heatherjune, it is very frustrating. Even though I got my money back through the visa chargeback scheme, I am appaled that this company is allowed to just continue. I worry that perhaps the more vulnerable such as elderly or those with learning difficulties may not know about visa chargeback and their consumer rights, or how to apply them, and may just think there's nothing they can do and lose their money to this vile company. I thought about making a facebook page to raise awareness and warn potential customers/victims, but worry that it could be classed as libel? Is it libel if you are only stating the facts? I hope this legalizer show shows just what a disgrace this "company" is.

Hi Ch4Rl1e,

I would definitely check whether it could be libel before doing it; as you know furn247 have tried threatening these review sites, but I feel its just an idle threat; what COULD they possible say to defend themselves? Well, they could but under these circumstances, they wouldn't get very far! Yes, I wish they could make headline news--at least there'd be more of a chance the vulnerable and the elderly would see it; thing is, many elderly probably don't have facebook. I hope the programme hurries up, too, but these things take time unfortunately, and many more people will have succumbed and had problems with then, sadly :( I have checked on companies house and it looks like furn247 are up and running again.. damn them. Very pleased you got the chargeback when you did; you obviously don't bank with Santander (!) I seem to take the blasted short straw every time! It makes me mad that furn247 have got my money; even though my insurers paid it, its not the same AND I expect that will mean a higher premium, too.. :( I also think furn247 have other names.. there's a lot to be gleaned by going to the companies house website. Its sickening that they are still trading.

I have a santander account but thankfully I used my lloyds one on that occasion. The chargeback seemed a very simple process, and yes I am glad I got my money back, but I am still worse off because of furn247. Because they held my money for so long, and we were desperately in need of sofa's (sitting on the floor all day certainly does your bottom and back no good), I had to order sofa's from my catalogue, at double the price I wanted to pay for a suite. We are still paying it off now and will still be paying it off for about the next 6 months. So although furn247 didn't get to keep my money, through their actions they caused me alot of added expense. I can see why you'd be infuriated at the thought that they still have your money. I think they trade by the name pine something or rather also? I think they have a few different trading names. I just can't believe trading standards have not shut them down.

What I feel about Trading Standards, is unprintable; pleasantly disinterested comes to mind.
You can console yourself though, because even if you had got the sofas from furn247 they would be damaged because no one but no one gets undamaged goods, what they deliver are 'seconds'. I think it is easier from the banks point of you if you've paid and haven't received any goods. I think you'd have had an even bigger headache; My furniture was damaged, everyone's is, and they don't respond when you want them to collect it--they tell you to return it at your own cost :/

Sorry to have to tell you--I am still waiting after 6 months. If you paid by visa debit go to your bank and request a chargeback--ALL banks do it its just that none of them want to and the Visa Chargeback team at Santander, well, I think a bunch of infants could have done better. They gave the most outrageous excuses, such as ''talk to the company'' and telling me that the 'company' had agreed to replace my damaged chair--when under the Distance selling regulations I am entitled to ask to return ALL the goods. So, is you have a problem go to the Financial Ombudsman.

Furn247 have been dissolved since November 2010 and are still trading.

I believe the goods they deliver are seconds or they take your money and don't deliver any goods at all!
No point in going to Trading Standards, they don't want to know, they cannot be bothered! Going to the Ombudsman is better than going to court--he can MAKE the bank give you the chargeback.

Keep all emails and letters written to Furn247 the bank will want to see that you have tried to get the money back, calls are untraceable and no evidence.

Go to your bank tomorrow, keep writing to Furn247, itsd evidence when they don't reply.

After 3 months of my writing to them I received an email in miniscule print:

''What's wrong with your order''?????????

''Kind regards''
