“Manufacture Issue”

Written on: 12/04/2013

I have had my vaccum cleaner for nearly two years and was fiarly satisfied with it until mid March this year. The hose became detatched from the hoover completely. I rang and had another hose sent to me. Just two weeks later, the same thing happened again. I was told that there was a manufacturing issue with the hose and the company were currently looking to manufacture a replacement. It basically looked like there wasnt enough glue or similar to keep the hose attached to the machine! Upon... (read more)

“Probably the worst hoover in the world!”

Written on: 31/12/2012 by poder (1 review written)

The lead is ridiculously short, if you live in anything but a bedsit it would be ok. The bin needs to be emptied constantly. I have to go around my carpet and pick up bits before vacuming as this machine leaves most of it behind. I cannot do stairs with it. At 6' tall i have to bend to reach the extended handle. Without doubt my biggest waste of money ever. (read more)

“waste of money!”

Written on: 06/11/2012

This promised to be as good as a full size cyclone cleaner-rubbish! Yes it is light, but that's the only good thing I can think to say about it. The dust drum is so small that unless you live in a caravan you have to empty it ridiculously often. If you have dogs like I do or a 3 bedroom house and like to vacuum regularly then don't bother to get one of these as it's really frustrating. The cable is really short so that you have to keep unplugging it and as for the so called extendible... (read more)

“whistle noise from motor”

Written on: 16/10/2012 by vicpenn44

Good vacuum cleaner, but let down by noisy motor after only 9 months from purchase. Vax customer care service is very poor. Despite trying to contact them over 2 days there is always a queue of people waiting to be dealt with. (read more)

“A Great Little Cleaner!”

Written on: 20/05/2012 by Osmodia (6 reviews written)

Quite a lot of research went in to choosing the Vax U91-MA-B vacuum cleaner, it paid off! It is lightweight, VERY easy to empty and the suction, well, it could suck start a Harley Davidson! From unpacking to using it took maybe 3 mins! No tedious assy, just pop in the handle (which also acts as a suction tube when using its tools) and away you go. To empty just grab the handle on the waste cylinder, press a button and it lifts off. To empty the contents you hold it over the bin and press a... (read more)

Written on: 04/05/2012 by doneagain (1 review written)

These a fine but if the belt goes it's of to the repair shop as they are far to fiddly for joe public to change and thats where the costs start my personel view is before you buy a cleaner ask the simplest of questions on the products if you don't and simple things go wrong it is far to expensive even for a £1.99 belt shop fitting cost £29.99 (read more)

“The worst vacuum - and nonsense repair policy”

Written on: 29/02/2012 by mejulie.t (1 review written)

The Vax Mac Air has great reviews - but don't believe them. The hoover is absolute rubbish. Our's lasted less than three months before the engine blew up. I took it back to Curry's where we bought it and they said we had to deal with Vax direct. So it took two weeks for the hoover to be collected, fixed and returned. We were charged as they said the lead was damaged - I don't think so. It came back and the replaced engine was less powerful, but worse of all it then stopped sucking after... (read more)

“What utter rubbish”

Written on: 09/11/2011

My Vax simply does not work for more than 5-10 minutes before cutting out. It’s been back to Vax and they gave a full clean bill of health stating nothing is wrong and the cutting out is simply a safety option!! Who needs a vac that only works for 5 minutes. And for picking up hair?? Rubbish. My 4 year old Morphy Richards I use for the car is better. I am fighting with Vax for a credit. Thank you for reading.. (read more)

I agree the Vax Air is the worst hoover I have ever owned. The motor blew up after 3 months. The filter needs cleaning after every vacuum.

What is worse is that the manufacturer wants to handle the problems. You send it to them and they charge you for something random and then send it back. then the same happens 1 month later.

We bought it from Curry's I now realise that it is Curry's that need to sort this. So don't bother with Vax. Go after the company that sold it to you... 2003 sale of goods to consumers act.

Good luck

Without notice VAX sent a brand new machine. A different model.
It's still needs lots of filter cleaning but at least it works.
It took 5 returns and nearly 12 months to get this kind of solution.. I say solution loosely... I've got a new machine but it's still a heavy, hot, noisy VAX that needs more cleaning than the cleaning it does...

“The VAX 6yr warranty is brilliant”

Written on: 28/05/2011 by moxicate (2 reviews written)

I've owned a mach C91 MZP cylinder for nearly 2 years and due to heavy use and family members being a tad rough i've had to use the warranty 3 times already and it was effortlessly smooth to do so. Firstly the clip on the hose was broken somehow so I got sent a new one. Secondly there was a strange noise and a burning smell coming from the motor so they collected the macine serviced / changed the motor and its like a new machine. Lastly the handel of the hose broke so they sent the part out... (read more)

This is the first upright vacuum I have had. The adjustable handle is brilliant - no more backache! The tool storage on the rear is clever so everything is at hand. It is very quiet, not noisy like my other vacuums have been, and a lot more powerful. The buttons for on/off and the brush controllers at the top, no more bending down!!

The cable is a good length; I can plug in and do the whole of the downstairs and the stairs without having to change sockets. Emptying is quick and easy.

Written on: 06/02/2011

This is the best vacuum cleaner I have owned, beating my old Dyson DC08 Animal (which broke down after 2 years), a Henry and a Morphy Richards pet. What I love about this vacuum cleaner is its simplicity. One button at the top of the machine changes between floor types, i.e. wooden and carpet. No more bending to the bottom of our old vacuum cleaner and struggling to change floor types between rooms. The handle can be adjusted for multiple heights with ease. The whole machine is so light... Written on: 06/10/2010

The front of this vacuum is far too light, so does not actually suck the floor very hard. If you put a foot on the front of it to press the thing against the ground, it visibly picks up much more dirt!

It claims to be powerful, but that is meaningless without talk of efficiency. This thing pumps out more heat than most electric heaters, and it is noisy as hell. I guess that explains why it uses so much power.

The biggest flaw though is when it comes to using the non-upright vacuum... (read more)

“I have 2 sheep dogs (one very hairy) and 1 long hair cat. ”

Written on: 08/09/2010

I have 2 sheep dogs (one very hairy) and 1 long hair cat.
Previous Electrolux Boss (cyclonic) vacuum was great but old and falling apart. More recent Electrolux Cylinder with "air tool" (where the air-flow turns the brushes) was rubbish on pet hair and its corrugated central filter needed cleaning all the time.

So I was looking for
something good on dog and cat hair
ideally smaller and lighter than our old Electrolux Boss
something with cyclones (and not with a central corrugated... (read more)

Vax U90-MA-R Mach Air Reach Multicyclonic Upright Vacuum Cleaner

We have a German Sheppard and a long haired white cat, hence lots and lots of pet hair. We have gone through 2 vacuums in the past year, they clog with pet hair and the belt breaks or the motor blows.

Recently we purchased a machine that has a special turbo pet hair attachment, so I thought great. But alas it clogged with hair and I had to cut the hair out of it every 5 minutes. I kept thinking that the machine and the... (read more)

Absolutely amazing product - lightweight and manoeuvrable. It gets right up to the edge of carpets. Does well on laminate, the brushbar can be switched off.
Easy to empty and to store.
Only complaints would be I would like a longer flex and the hose is a bit awkward to remove and replace. A suction reducer for using on vinyl flooring would be good, it is a bit fierce.
Excellent for dog hairs, gone with one sweep.
I had a vacuum at three times the price and it was not even half as good.

Written on: 16/11/2009 by LoonyToonz (1 review written)

I recently purchased the Vax Mach Air as it was reduced from £180 to £129 to replace my existing Vax Cleaner
I have to admit that I was surprised by the weight or lack of it coupled with the power it gives.
When I opened up the box and lifted out the machine my first thoughts were that the Mach Air would struggle to lift the dog hair off our carpets the way my previous cleaner had but how wrong I was.
The Mach Air is so light and manouverable it makes cleaning easy and less of a chore.

When I saw the price of the Mach Air reduced from £199 to £129 I thought I was seeing things. For those thinking that this is a Dyson wannabe (namely running after the "baby" DC24) then you'd be right, right down to the total design of its silver colouring, grids and vents here and there whilst the compactness (another attracting feature) which is extremely portable is a massive bonus for limited storage space and being much slimmer than any other upright vacuum I've ever owned infact. When my Mach Air first arrived, because of it's small size, I questioned it's performance ability. However, I needn't have worried. Weighing in at less than 5kg it is "The lightest full size multi-cyclonic upright in the world", it certainly was a massive weight off of my shoulders.
The Mach Air has some great features but also a couple of teething problems, which I'm sure the clever people at Vax can iron out. As mentioned before, it's very lightweight, has great powerful suction, is... (read more)

The Mach AIR U91-MA-B from VAX is a smart and sleek vacuum cleaner, looking quite stylish in the familiar VAX orange and contrasting grey. It is also very lightweight and easy to lift and manoeuvre which would make it ideal for people who have trouble with some of the heavier cleaners.

The Mach Air arrived in a big box and the cleaner came with the main drum and cleaner part separate from the handle attachment. It was incredibly easy to fit the two bits together and I did so without having... (read more)

This is a Fantastic Vacuum cleaner! I am very impressed with the weight of it. When I first received the Vax Mach Air, I thought that there was no way that this cleaner was going to be very powerful......how wrong I was!!!! The Vax Mach Air is a compact, lightweight vacuum cleaner, which makes it easy to use and to store. The suction of this machine is amazing, it left my carpets looking brighter and dealt with pet hair (two cats one long and one short hair) with no problems. The brushes can be raised to clean wooden floors, but it is so powerful it clings to lino and will not move. Bright orange controls with symbols on are easy to locate and use, once apart further instructions are on the machine so no need... (read more)

I have recently received a Vax Mach Air vacuum cleaner and was firstly impressed by the compact design and the lightness of the machine. It was out of the box - plug and go with no complicated assemble. The machine is easy to use and very good at reaching those confined spaces which other machines we had could not. The suction is good and powerful and there is no clogging or collection of hairs, etc on the suction rotating parts.

On appearance the Mach Air is a very nice design. It is so light and easy to push,so ideal for carrying upstairs,it feels like your pushing around a toy hoover. The suction is really good on carpets and there is an easy button to push to stop the brush rotating when you want to hoover hard floors. I do not like the length of the power cord,it is far too short and i keep having to unplug it and plug it in again around the house which is very annoying. To use the pipe you have to pull it out...
