“Papadoms All the Wayy!”

★★★★★

written by AliceHal on 09/07/2011

i have visited Papadoms and enjoyed the food. After a week, I searched on internet but They did not deliver. I really did not want to leave the house and wanted Papadoms. When i checked on some web sites I saw that they had different menu to what Papadoms had in the restaurant. But then my friend told me about MySalivation.com - My Salivation Delivers. I ordered food from them for delivery from tayyabs and it was just what I wanted. :) very happy I can order now, given the weather has been so bad. ;)

Tayyabs, or 'The New Tayyabs' is without a doubt the best curry I have had in London (and I do regularly go out for curry, about every one or two months).

It is actually a Pakistani Punjabi restaurant just round the corner from Whitechapel tube station. It is very popular so I would advise booking. It is possible to just turn up, but this will require waiting in line in the restaurant, which a lot of people are still happy to do; this is a testament to how good the food is in there!

They do not have a huge range on the menu but what is there is fantastic. I usually have one of their vegetarian dishes, which are excellently spiced but my fellow diners say that the lamb chops are also fantastic.

The prices are incredibly cheap, about £4-5 for a main dish. It is a 'bring your own' restaurant, which means they do not serve beer but there is a shop very close which sells large bottles of Cobra which you can bring with you. As they obviously work on a large turnover then sometimes you can feel a little rushed at the end of your meal, but this is a small price to pay for the value and quality of the food. The staff are always still pleasant and courteous.

I'd absolutely recommend Tayyabs to anyone who enjoys a good curry, just book first and remember to bring beer with you! I'd say it was a much better option than the popular Brick Lane curry houses, which are not far away, so if you're in the area I'd say make the effort to go to Tayyabs - it's worth it.
