Over the past few years I have established that the most cost effective way to renew the home insurance is to shop around. After sifting through the comparison websites and eliminating the bare bones quotes that were not for me I decided to contact one call as there proposal seemed to tick all the boxes. I contacted One Call via GoCompare to discuss the finer points of building and contents cover for house insurance. The adviser, was well-informed and able to answer my questions and I could therefore make sure that this policy met my needs. I was able to pay for the annual policy there and then and within 15 minutes had received all the documentation. You can't say better than that! I had problems right from the start of the policy and asked to cancel because I was within 28 days only to be told that their cancellation policy was 14 days. I was then told that it would cost me to cancel the policy which I wasn't prepared to do. In January 2013 some managed to get access to my account and cancel my direct debit and agree to make card payments each month. I was passed from one department to the next and was subjected to the same spiel until I eventually managed to get to the appropriate department. Surely there should be a method where the customer can be transferred without the hassle. When I eventually reached the correct department I was looked after by a guy. These people are cheap for a reason and it's not value for money! One-Call? Do yourself a favour. Don't Call. Go elsewhere. They even try to charge for cancellations within your legal timeframe to cancel. I paid by card for Home insurance; cancelled within a day or so. They claimed I couldn't be refunded until I sent back a document I didn't have (The application was all done on Online!). I was very pleased with the service given. It is nice to speak with someone who's first language is English and that is not a racist remark. After a very argumentative call with Legal & General (who because of the very rude and surly adviser who lost almost a certain purchase), I called One Call Direct. Expecting more of the same, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency and speed of taking down my details and the common courtesy offered.
