“Nothing happens”

Following a brain injury a few years ago, involving brain surgery, coma, hospitalisation and a long recorvery I started to try and get my life in order and one of the things was a claim for accidental damage to our house. We are not a careless family but we made a claim for three things at the start of February. Nothing happened and a family of five without a shower was not fun. Whenever I spoke to somebody to find out why nothing was happening, responses were always friendly and polite, actions were promised, but still nothing happened. At some point I was asked to pay an excess of about £1,000 to cover the three claims, which I did. Now eight months later we've eventually had a surveyor visit our home to assess one of the claims. He said we should hear within a week. Now many weeks later I've phoned again to find out that this claim is slowly progressing, but the other two claims have been closed. No correspondence to explain why, no refund of the excesses I was made to pay. I try to phone onecall to talk to them about it but there is no phone number, there is no online chat, there isn't even an e-mail there if you need help. OneCall seem to get great reviews and I can imagine that when things work well, they are a pleasure to deal with. If you're somebody who finds stress an unpleasant thing to deal with, you might want to look elsewhere. It is possible that many of our problems could be with the middleman that OneCall have used to deal with my claim. Even if this is the case, I think if you take somebody's money you need to be responsible for the people you arrange to provide the service. If somebody at OneCall reads this and would like to help me find where my excesses have gone or perhaps lend me their shower, then I hope the number 4237/M0071235 might help.

“Ineffective”

Whilst all staff were polite and as helpful as they could be the water main leak to my house I reported on a Wednesday could not be fixed for 9 days. As it was quite a serious leak I have had to resort to employing a local contractor to deal with it which cost less than my excess! Not terribly good.

“Trying to report a claim for over a week!”

This is not a proper joke insurance. It is only a broker to insurance companies and will transfer your call to another company to deal with. Customer service is very poor, online portal is a joke!

“Cycle of disappointment ”

So far I have only got from incident - one call - a third party company acting as agent of the underwriter. The 24/7 365 claims number (as shown on the website) is only available Mon - Fri 9 to 5.30 which meant at 6pm last night I couldn’t get through to anyone to open a claim when we found water seeping through the concrete under the tiles of our kitchen floor. The message on the phone line suggests that during office hours you can open a claim via the online chat (I wanted to be able to have the transcript for later). The link takes you through a cycle of pages and links only to wind up back at the phone number. Also, the customer portal is impossible because it’s just a spinning wheel saying it’s “retrieving your policies”. Been spinning 16 hrs now. We currently have no water and are hoping to hear back “within two working days” after OneCall return the appropriate documents to the underwriter’s agent. I wonder what OneCall’s actual role is in all this if there’s a third company involved who are actually (hopefully) organising things. It’s certainly not customer service.

“Wasn’t there when needed”

I have contents cover including accidental my fridge freezer broke. Called to claim. They put me through to AXA who said unless broken due to fire damage I can’t claim. So I’ve taken out cover with shop ( currys). Every year my premiums gone up. No renewing

“No insurance for water damage”

If water has got through your roof and damaged your ceiling, walls or contents, you're basically not covered. Even with additional accidental damage. A roof tile came loose due to bad weather but because the wind didn't reach 46mph, and the rain didn't make 2.2 cm per hour I cannot claim for damage caused by water pouring into my bedroom. It's also not covered as 'accidental damage' because this company does not include ANY damage caused by water in their home or contents insurance. So if you're unaware you have a hole in your roof for instance, then you are screwed. Avoid! avoid!

I had my door glass broken some how . But One call policy says cover includes but when I get contact then, Policy covers from different countries, No help to coverage the policy. I have to pay more than policy. Poor service. Very poor value for money. Please don’t take any policy

“No response to claim!”

I rang and submitted a claim over a week ago. The person I spoke to said they would call me back. Since then, despite reminders and complaints from me I have hear absolutely NOTHING! In the meantime, my house is insecure. This is appallingly bad service.

This insurance company is a load of rubbishI wouldn't advise anyone who wants insurance to use this company as because they will not do anything to help you. The only thing they will do is take your money and not bother with you so forget about what they say

My mother is 87 had a problem with her front door yesterday afternoon as it wouldn’t lock. The locksmith turned up at 11.30 pm did a temporary fix so she could go to bed. This morning my mother is being pushed from pillar to post by the insurance company whilst she seeks a permanent fix. The home cover has been a complete let down to say the least! Vulnerable person not good enough!

Most of the reviews seem to be about the taking out of the insurance, what about when people need to make a claim? Also, do they insure a property if it's left unoccupied for between 30 and 60 days?
