We have used many different kennels in the past but would never go anywhere else after using Woodville for the past 2 years. We have a very active Boxer who can be a bit of a handful and needs PLENTY of walks to run the steam out of him. Nothing is too much trouble for the guys at Woodville and they have always gone the extra mile for us to ensure that Barney gets the right level of activity for him. He is always excited when he arrives at Woodville and cant wait to leave us and when we... (read more)

Ive been using these kennels for about 5 years, at various times of the year and I have never had anything but excellent service, both from the previous owner and the current. My dog is happy there, well exercised and well fed. They cater for all types and diets, fussy eaters and elderly dogs are very well supervised and you can see where your dog will be staying at any time, no appointment necessary. I would'nt hesitate to recommend these kennels. (read more)

Previously we would have given a similar review, but this year when we booked for 2 to 18 August, our dog was kept in a stable in Puddington with other dogs and not in an individual luxury kennel at Woodville, Thornton Hough.

We left our dog at these kennels for 2 weeks from 2 to 18 August. On return we received a call from a person who rented livery stables at Puddington where the owner of Woodville Kennels lives. We were advised that our dog, Poppy, arrived in the neighbouring stable with a number of other dogs on 3 August until at least 7 August when our informant moved his horse to another livery yard. We were sent a photo by e-mail that showed Poppy with a retriever named Sampson. When we contacted the... (read more)

This is indicative of over booking by the kennels at a peak holiday time. Most of the good reviews are from 2010 when Woodville was probably OK. Advised by other dog owners in Wirral that no longer recommend Woodville that previous owner provided a better service than the current owners.

Thank you, and we have taken on board your comments. As reiterated to you in phone calls and emails regarding this matter, we had an emergency situation with regards to a water leak. Consequently, the kennels affected were inoperable due to repair works. Added to this, being our peak period the other kennels were full. This left us no alternative but to rehome the dogs for a short period of a couple nights. Understandably, due to the short period of time, and our proactive nature to resolve this matter, we did not believe it necessary to disrupt your holiday. I can confirm that during the period of repair, the dogs were kept at Puddington and duly returned upon completion of works. Further to your comments regarding malnourishment, we refute this claim on the basis that Poppy has been in our care on numerous occasions and dietary problems have never been raised during previous stays, and this matter was not raised during our subsequent conversations after her recent stay. We adhere to strict dietary plans and exercise programes as presented by our clients, and under your instruction, fed and exercised Poppy as requested.
Woodville has operated for many years and has many client across the Wirral and Merseyside and we take these matters very seriously.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The reason I have not contacted the owners again is because when I contacted them a second time (only two phone calls and 1 return e-mail), (name removed) was rude finishing with the words "if you are not happy then we can do no more" and then cut off the call. I subsequently e-mailed again to (name removed) who owns the kennels and explained how rude her husband had been.
Our informant that told us about Poppy and other dogs being kept in a stable in Puddington did complain to the owners about the dreadful conditions that the dogs were in in the stable and the informant was told to take his horse away and find another livery. The informant has stated clearly that Poppy and the other dogs arrived on 3 August (the day after we left her at Woodville in Thornton Hough) and that she was still there when they moved their horse the following Tuesday, 7 August. This is 5 days and not just a couple of days as mentioned in comment 2. We asked the owners for the dates of the water leak, they refused to provide this despite being asked in my second e-mail, my first conversation and the second and last conversation. They have been unprepared to confirm the dates of the 2 days and in any case 2 days is different from the 5 days advised by our informant.
It leaves questions:
1. Why did they not tell us when we picked up Poppy?
2. Why did they ask the livery top remove their horse when they complained about the conditions in the stable with 3 dogs inside?
3. Why do they avoid confirming the dates of the water leak?
I am not prepared to speak to them again and be spoken to rudely. They have my contact details and they owe us an apology and answers to our outstanding question.
We are heart broken that Poppy should have been kept in a stable as reported to us. This is a factual record of events.

We had used Woodville twice before based on a recommendation, but our experience between 2 & 18 August has changed our views entirely. Our dog was kept in a stable in Puddington with two other dogs and not in an individual luxury kennel that we had booked and paid for. We had viewed the kennels previously, but that is not where our dog was kept this August.

Sue and her husband are the new owners of Woodville Kennels and they have looked after Xena our Dobermann, a boisterous three year old young lady dog (the website has banned the use of the b word!) who is eager to stay there. It is very reassuring for owners to know their beloved pets are being looked after, are exercised and most importantly are happy when you leave them. (read more)

My Springer has been in to these Kennels on several occasions and I was always concerned when she went there. Each time she came home dirty and smelly (the kennels say they bath them). Her bedding also comes back damp and smelly. Jess was always dropped off at reception therefore I neer got to see the accomodation as they said that this can unsettle the other dogs.
I have recently found another kennels that are more than happy to show you the accomodation which is comfortable and clean,...

Can't understand the negative reviews on this site for Woodville - Izzie our labradoodle occaisionally stays for the day here and if she didn't like it she'd hardly drag me in each time I drop her off! The staff are very friendly and genuinely care for the animals and Izzie always bounces out at the end of the day in a very happy mood! Great value for money at only £10 for day including a lunchtime snack plus they do a free trial day too ... (read more)

My dog recently stayed at this kennels for what was supposed to be a two week stay, fortunately my friend was able to pick my pet up earlier. I was told on my return from holiday that my dog had blood coming from her chest area, had bald patches where she had been gnawing and was in a highly stressd state. My friend took her to the vet as soon as possible where Seren was prescibed antibiotics, lotion to put on her skin to prevent infection and an injection to calm her down. I was also told... we have used woodville for about five years since our dog was a pup
he can be nervous when he arrives and leaves but never distressed.
he seems to have been well cared for.
the staff alwys insist on checking all vacination details,
sometimes can be quite hard to track down staff which once resulted in us having to pick him up the following day but no dramas and wernt charged any extra
on the whole a good place i would rec. to friends.

I was overjoyed to find a doggy day nursery in the area for our new puppy. He attends a few days a month. I phoned to make an appointment and was told that no appointment was necessary and to just pop round any day during opening hours. When I did everybody was friendly and I was given a tour - was very impressed by the staff and the kennels. He is always happy when we arrive. Not sure about the negative review on here - surely it would take some doing to put on weight in 5 days and surely... (read more)

Having always had rescue dogs, some with anxieties etc, I have never placed any of them in a kennel before until recently. My dog goes to day nursery at Woodville Kennels at least once, maybe twice a week. He knows where he is going and jumps out of the car when he gets there straight up to the 'carer' and off he goes for the day! He comes back quite happy seemingly at the end of the day and doesnt seem to be stressed or bothered. The staff are all great and friendly and as it is a small... (read more)

We thought the same until we were informed that our dog was kept in a stable in Puddington with other dogs and not at Woodville in an individual luxury kennel as we had paid for.
