“Use Viessmann Trained Techs! ”

★★★★★

written by Hoffman13 on 12/09/2017

I've installed over 30 of the Vitodens 100's and a few 200's (and viessman oil boilers) over the last 8 years. I have had very little installation issues or call back complaints. Recommend the low loss headers, and a quality air separator. Also check water quality and use cleaner/conditioners (authorized by Viessman) especially if this is a replacement. Setup or check combustion with quality certified equipment. Remember any product can have issues but many of my findings in the field come back to installation. Follow manufacturer recommendations and true of any brand, hire a company who has actually been to a class for the brand they are installing.

“Been through 8 Winters no issues”

★★★★★

written by on 07/02/2017

Had this boiler installed winter 2008 whilst building a very large extension to my property. Services new plumbed rads (8) and underfloor heating to new build and (12) old rads to existing along with heating my hot water. Never had any problems with the boiler (professionally installed, regularly serviced). My bills are very low in relation to the size of my property. No complaints only praise as its on 24/7 365.

“Not a single problem in 5 years”

★★★★★

written by 9McGuire on 03/02/2017

Had this boiler installed for my self build and have been running it for over 5 years without a single issue. It's running hot water, radiators on one floor and under floor heating on two floors. Make sure it's installed by someone truly competent and of course keep it serviced. My bills are far lower but this is probably as much due to the new house construction as to the boiler.

Far superior than any other boiler, if you have a Viessmann installed by an accediated Viessmann installer you will be offered an extended warranty for ten years. I have had my current boiler for three years, my gas bill reduced considerably after I had it installed. It his boiler knocks the socks off my last boiler

“No problems :)”

★★★★★

written by LesterBailey on 29/04/2016

Three years ago I moved into a house with a Veissman boiler and have had no trouble with it whatsoever. It's easy to use, good controls and everything's very logical. I had the boiler checked and serviced before the winter really started - the maintenance guy gave it a thorough going over and replaced something small which didn't cost very much. The boiler has worked well again over the winter, keeping the house warm. This is a great boiler - compact so it doesn't take up laods of space and it runs efficiently without any problems. All in all, I'm very impressed with this boiler and would recommend it to others who are considering ahving a new boiler installed.

“Excellent boiler, excellent value”

★★★★★

written by ImmanuelBishop366 on 09/01/2016

Have had our Vitodens 100 for 2 years now and could not be happier with it. It runs so quietly it is remarkable. Very efficient, I reduced my heating costs to less than half what I paid to run my old oil fired boiler. Also should mention that the physical size of the Vitodens is very small, compact. I gained a whole new room when I got rid of the old boiler. To me, the only downside might be the initial cost - it is not cheap by any means. Wish I had added the DHW Combi unit at time of install, but am going to add it this year.

“Veissmann 100 closed system boiler - all good”

★★★★★

written by ldWilliams330 on 21/11/2015

We've had this boiler for two years without a problem - although the wireless thermostat (standard version) is not the easiest to use or understand . The benefit of this boiler - closed system- is that everything is contained in the boiler itself- we had a pressure cylinder 'megaflow' installed recently for the loft conversion and the plumber was surprised that we didn't have an external pump etc that is usual with the Bosch systems, Everything was installed smoothly and the boiler works well over three floors. I also have to add that our heating bill came down 400 pounds a year in the first year and with the cheaper tariffs now it's 500 (we did have a 40 year old boiler (open system) before though!).

“Very Impressive Boiler”

★★★★★

written by HULLASH on 21/10/2015

Vitodens 100-W 30kw I was a little sceptcal about this combination boiler after reading many poor reviews on this site, however this as been installed for 14 months and i'm very impressed with the efficiency of the boiler, helping drive my gas bill down to only £65 a month (3 bed semi) The boiler was installed onto a newly piped system a mixture of copper and plastic pipe. A scale inhibitor and Magnaclean filter was installed and the full system cleaned by a powerflush. The gas pipe had to be increased from 15mm to a mixture of 28mm reducing to 22mm. I have had absolutely no issues with the running or reliability of the unit. It is super quiet too, my son can hardly hear it working within the fitted unit in his bedroom, Hot water is always excellent and there is more than enough Ummph to run my bath & digital shower and other tap outlets. I think this boiler runs slightly cooler than my previously owned models (Ideal & Woc Bosch) so therefore is takes a little longer to get the house to temperature. We find the economy setting of 4 is ideal for Autumn and cold mornings but once winter hits the setting has to be increased to the absolute maximum to heat the house. All in all a great boiler andit has a full 5 year parts guarantee (if installed by a Veissmann approved installer) however it must be serviced yearly to qualify.Winner!

I have to agree the v-100 is a good boiler and worth the money! I replaced a wood/electric boiler with a nat. gas v100 and have cut my heating costs by 50 per cent with no problems so far. If your considering having one installed find a good fitter that has had experience with this product and dont cheap out on the installation.

“Great boiler and well built ”

written by abcgascare on 06/04/2015

Loads bad revue on this but its about correct install and some one bitching the price install thats not the boilers fault . 5 year parts labour pay about £200 get 10 year no brainier. Again my favorite its spacious inside easy to work on I like it . But you need a filter eg Magnaclean 2 budget £100 for extra life and energy saving 6% , I will not fit any boiler with out one rubbish or a diamond . My top list is Viessmann Vaillant Baxi duotec , budget Heatline Capriz plus . not on my list Ferroli parts are a expensive price , Ideal but think improved , Worster Bosch are poor aluminum heat exchanger if i said all the bad points be here all day stay away ,if your plumber says there great then he don't fix them or properly service them .

I am a totally honest man and would like to think that most people are. But reading some of these reviews I would doubt that they are! I own a company that specialises in the repair and installation of boilers, I know almost everything about the Viessmmann boiler rainge. I have only had one pipe split and that was due to a subcontractor not flushing the chemical out of a system correctly. Viessmann boilers are bullet proof and the 200 rainge are out of this world for reliability. We have over 4000 customers on our books and we have been specialising in Viessmann for 6 years now and in that time I suppose we have had 25 repairs. So I truly doubt most of these reviews.

Hi, I'm working on a claim where the system makes a bit of noise for about 1 minute at the end of the day. It's quite loud. I don't think its the Viessmann 100, but rather an installation issue. That said, what could the deficient installation be? I've seen comments on level installation, pressure etc, the installer in this case advised that the sound was 'normal' and to keep the temperature between 18 degrees and 22 at all times - which seems unreasonable to me. What are your thoughts here? You seem to know these systems quite well. I've read your posts!

I replaced an old oil fired boiler with a Vitodens 100 boiler (propane gas fired) heating our house and it works great.
We are wondering if we could connect from the existing system and install heating into our living room floor.
I believe this should be possible if we kept the loop intact. Would you agree? We have an unheated crawlspace under our living room and thought this may be a good way to warm the floor as we are replacing the flooring????
Comments or suggestions are most welcome.

Yes it would be possible. You would need a single zone underfloor pack, to blend/mix the temp if you have radiators on the rest of the system.

Well, do you live in Ontario ?
You can come fix mine . We have had our boiler for 4 years and it has now started to "boom" when it starts up . Scares the hell out of anyone near by.Ever repair person says we need a new one 20,000. To replace.it. They say it is difficult to fix. I think it's more that they do not know "how" to fix it.Vissemann Tec support says that it must have been installed not" level," and if it is not "level " it's not under warranty anymore! To make matters worse the company that we used to install it is now out of business.
If your in Ontario , please contact me. I and a architectural designer and have really pushed my clients into purchasing these boilers , but with the lack of support from this company , I'm not comfortable doing so anymore.

“Quiet efficient and worth the money”

★★★★★

written by WalterFuller359 on 14/06/2014

My boiler was installed just over 2 years ago. Apart from a error in the wiring up by the plumber the boiler has worked without fault. I think this comes down to the quality of the installation. The annual service is quiet expensive but keeps the 5 year warranty in place. My only complaint would be that I would like the display back lit.

“Viessmann Vitodens 100 WB1A series - Hamilton ON Canada”

★★★★★

written by J.Birch on 04/01/2014

During this cold winter I have further come to appreciate Scott Bivand's January 2009 installation of our Viessmann Vitodens 100 ultra high efficiency boiler that heats our home. Scott and his dad completed the installation in less than one day converting our 1870 house from oil to gas, arranged the removal of the old boiler and oil tank and left the basement cleaner than when they found it. Their plumbing job is a work of art on its own. They also installed a Bradford White on demand domestic water heater system at the same time. Small compact, high efficiency units - the extra space we gained in the basement was an added bonus - our heating bills plunged from about $1,500 a winter to about $600. Highly recommend Scott's AL+B Plumbing & Heating and the Viessman & Bradford White units. There were no hidden costs, all was as quoted. All has worked flawlessly. Of course Scott happens to be a boater - so its hardly surprising that he is a honourable fellow.

We have this boiler for nearly a year. It runs and runs. Just tested a heating run and cleaned the Magna Clean. Boiler heating came straight on.. It even has saved us money in this short period. People that write here that it is a piece of junk, they are lying through their teeth. Especially if you claim you had the boiler seven years and you can't EVEN SPELL VIESSMANN. Get a life, this boiler needs at least 4, 4,5 stars. We also have weather compensation and works flawless in cold weather. You don't feel any dip in temperature if the outside temperature has dropped significantly. I am the only one who has this in the street and people always ask if it is a camera. Lol. Very happy with it so far.

I have had my rotten boiler since 2008. My experience of its reliability is exactly the same as those of the people who complain about it. Not a year has passed that I have not had to call out a plumber at least three times (and that does not include the extortionately priced yearly servicing) because it has ceased to work.

Of course, the problem might not be with the boiler; it might be to do with stupid English plumbers. I am now attempting to persuade Viessmann to refer me to someone who will over-haul the boiler such that it becomes reliable. I somehow expect that there will be no response from Viessmann.

Worcester-Bosch give a 10yr heat exchanger warranty on gas boilers, and 5yr warranty on oil. Also their spares are a lot cheaper than Viessman.

This person really knows what Viessmann stands for . I"ve been involved with the products for years and by far if installed correctly plus componets in the home like pumps and water pressures are correct they will never fail if set up correctly.

You have to take the time to set up properly check the system and the boiler will last forever.. They also have a 316 SS heat exchanger. The only system on the market that has that. JR

I've hAd this boiler just short of 5 years it's been a load of rubbish since the day it was installed,in just under 5 years it's had a replacement ignition switch which was to get the boiler working in the first place,18 months later a step motor ,then another 18 months on another step motor....it's now needs topping up everyday to get it to work at all...sick to death of it and don't say it has a 5 year warranty at the time I brought it it was only 3 year warranty ....that said you do expect a boiler to last longer then 5 years ...so people learn from my mistake and do not buy this boiler ..

Hi. I've got a Viessmann vitodens 111-w that isn't working properly. All the indications on the boiler itself look normal, and the hot water is working, but no heat is getting to the radiators. When I first fired it up for the season last week, a few of the radiators started to get hot but then since then there's been nothing. The pressure was low so I've increased that to 1.4 bars. Any suggestions? Could it be the diverter? Thanks

Every so often the hot water will go cold in the middle of running a shower or any of the other hot water faucets in the house. The plumber that installed it has no idea what the problem is and when he came to troubleshoot the problem it did not happen when he was at the house. Has any one had this happen and if so can you offer advice?

When I had this problem, it eventually transpired that the plumber who installed my boiler had not bothered to bleed the radiators properly, so air pockets were forming in them. It is a good idea to check the Viessmann site to see who the company's accredited plumbers are in your area. Even then, you might not be lucky immediately: For me, it was third-time lucky, after six years of endless problems.

Yes I think your fan is faulty. You could call viessmann and see if they do a fixed price call or find a decent local chap, but you want someone who if it is not the fan will credit the cost back and use it on the faulty component like the pcb.

check your actual underfloor heating pipes are adequate to give the heat out if your house isn't well insulated or your pipe work undersized then that's your problem the average house needs a small boiler its the hot water on combi that need big boilers in your case its system boiler I presume this is 35 Kw that should heat a very big house with ease so as your system been balanced is the heat going to easiest radiators or pipe work so not flowing through that area , that's what good plumbers are for if its not write ask your installer to sort it if he hasn't got the knowledge get some one who can don't waste money on new boiler , try Viessmann they are fantastic ask for advice of the experts . You may need bigger boiler but I am not convinced at start . I dont waste customers money so take care jumping the gun .

Another thoroughly irritating aspect of this dreadful boiler: unhelpful or no switch signage. The tags round the timeswitch clock have to pushed OUT for ON for the time periods you want. Next there is the tiniest little tag switch at the one-o-clock position adjacent to the clock. There are no switch position signs at all on mine but the three positions of the switch are from the left: OFF - TIMER - ON. So switch it to the central position and push the clock tags out for the period you want the heating on. At least that's how mine works. Of course yours may have been modified, "improved"........

I gave up with the timer when my boiler was installed. The installer and the 5 subsequent Veissmann accredited annual service engineers were unable to set the clock or explain how to set it! I work in the computer industry and don't usually fail to master technology but this one has me beat! The timer is now over ridden and the house heating controlled by a smart thermostat which manages time and room temperature and the hot water is permanently on and controlled by a tank stat. on a well lagged tank. I would recommend the same route for you if possible. Still very pleased with this boiler it has yet to put a "foot" wrong and achieves excellent efficiency.

Not very good reviews for the vitodens 100, does anybody have any comments on the Viessmann Vitodens 111-w? I have been given a quote to have one fitted and would like to know if there are any comments or opinions on this boiler.

Thanks for answering this question.

Don’t know the Vitrodens 111 W but do know the Vitrodens 100W (there are two types) the W is a closed system with weather compensation. In my experience the boiler is very good (see my earlier review) but you need to be really careful about the quality of your fitter. My 100W is now over 4 years old and has not put a foot wrong + I recovered the entire cost of purchase and fitting in 18 months in gas saving vs my Vintage Potterton Kingfisher. Not sure how much the weather compensation saves as I just don’t notice it but the house is always comfortable and boiler just trickles along at 60c weather it is freezing or cool outside .

I have installed approaching 280 Viessmann Vitoden boilers and can honestly say that they are one of the most reliable appliances on the market. I have installed 5 Vitoden 111 heat-store boilers and they can produce an astonishing amount of hot water (as long as the incoming mains water pressure is good enough). Go for the UTBD 2RF wireless controller - it is excellent. Of the 280 boilers fitted we have had no mechanical failures, but make sure that you use a Viessmann accredited engineer so that you can extend the warranty period to 7 years for £50…………..bargain.

My boiler loses about a bar of pressure a day with no obvious leaks. The boiler is just 2 years old, what is the problem?I read from the guide that a minimum of 1 bar is needed at all times-what happens if we are away and the system gets no pressure? Will the boiler cut out or will it fail?

This is the Achilles of the sealed system! It’s not necessarily your boiler that is losing pressure, it could be any ware in your heating system. Many of us go through life without noticing the “leak” that most wet heating systems have because there is a tank in the attic (vented system) which tops itself up. When you go to sealed \closed system where you have to top it up yourself ….. you realise you lost some level of automation. When I changed to a closed system ….having witnessed lots of friends and family who were always calling in the plumber to fill the system and me when I demonstrated how to do it themselves (they found it easier to give me a call!) I thought I would not fall in that pit! So I asked my Plummer / Heating engineer if I could have it auto top up…… apparently it contravenes water board regulations to leave your heating circuited connected to your water supply! So the options appear to be leave your header tank in (provided it can provide 1 bar of head) or break the water boards regulation (with the added chance of boiler inhibitor poisoning as it back flows in to your water system) by fitting a permanent supply loop with a pressure regulator Or watch the gauge ………. And top up as required. I’m not a plumber or a heating engineer …and would like a better legal solution to this problem myself 1 Bar a day is excessive! Suggest you feel around your pipes and rad valves for leaks something will be wet ! Or it is the heat exchanger (or valves) in your boiler that are leaking, which you probably won’t see or feel Good luck, Mark
