Rented a Mitsubishi Colt Plus from A2B rentals for around 2 weeks. Car was still dirty on my arrival, so English staff member washed it. Unfortunatly this hid a dent that I later found when I got it home. Were very millitant with signing forms etc..think I signed about 3!
About a week later, I came back to the car and found a boot lid backing light smashed, more than likely by a shopping trolly. I didnt take out the extra excess, so my bad, and I was fully prepared to pay for this damage. On my return the very young staff member called someone, and then told me the damage for the light would be $800, just for the plastic cover! I questioned this, and also how they managed to know how much the part cost on a Sunday evening, when most Mitsubishi parts dealers would surely be shut. They then tried to sting me for the damage to the door, which was very hard to see anyway, and impossible when it was wet. After this, they then removed a hubcap, showing the rim was buckled, and tried to get me to pay for this damage as well! I agreed to pay the $800 for the light, on condition they provided me with a receipt within 2 business days. This was the last I heard from them. Over a month later they inexplicably refunded about $550 on my credit card, with no explanation why, or as to why they charged me $800 in the first place. We have tried to call them many times, they are not returning our calls, and this issue is currently with the commerce commission.
