Worst food I've eaten in Birmingham so far, I invited my mother in law with my whole family, she was very disappointed and I was indeed embarrassed. Food was burnt, tasted bad, bad hot environment , not family friendly at all, very busy though, I think every one who rated this place as good either works there or can't taste food

Arabian food has a unique taste, you probably only ever eaten kidney bean curry with roti and a curry made from sheeps feet or intestine maybe?? Anyone that has tasted arab food should try food from here and see the difference compared to other arab eateries!

The food at Abu Zayd's is quite simply fantastic and the value for money immense. The portion sizes your given are truly huge - its like dining out in a restaurant in the US - im certainly not complaining. The balance of spices in the food is perfect and its always cooked to perfection. My only gripe with the place would be the fact that they don't have a card machine. You'd think any self respecting restaurant would have a card machine in this day and age - its not like its exactly a new innovation or even difficult to implement.
On my last visit, i ordered takeaway and when it was all cooked and ready, I attempted to pay only to be told they don't accept card. Realising I only had my credit card on me, I was reluctant to withdraw cash from the atm across the road due to the extra charge levied. But then again, I was looking forward to the food and very hungry and so thought its only an extra couple of pounds so who cares. However, when attempting to withdraw money - the atm told me my card issuer would not authorise this type of transaction. Realising i had absolutely no way of paying for the food and being reluctant to stand in the kitchen and wash dishes, I had to dash away (without the food as that was still waiting for me in the restaurant) - a highly embarrassing event purely due to Abu Zayds living in the stone age.
Having been a regular there, and not wanting to be recognised after this embarrassing event - I've had to return in a number of different disguises - ranging from the traditional fake beard and mustache to the more extreme darth vader mask. I think I may try a burkha next time.
Please Abu Zayds come out of the iron ages and into the 21st century. Card is the new cash.

Absolutley brilliant, food, service price the lot. The food is jus amazing and very tasty and the portion is mind blowing especially for the price you pay. if you like grilled food this place is ideal, especially if ur lookin for cheap prices..for a side order with steak, the rice is tasty rather then everyday chips.personally i am not into grilled food so i didnt enjoy eating here, the menu is all grilled food,no curries so ther is not much choice..i would not go ther again or recommend to anyone..

Our experience with Abu Zayd`s Restaurant: When we came in it smelled like burned food. We were a bit disappointed about the dirty ketchup bottle and other "table sauces" . The food was not what we expected and we were quite disappointed: hamburger partly burned, bread partly burned, no sauce on salad, huge onion pieces on salad. Staff was polite, but seemed overburdend! We would not recommend it.

I found this review not helpful because...
it is nothing like abu zayds and i have read numerous other reviews and they all seem to be saying otherwise.
so i had to go try it out my self so i had travelled all the way from london with a few work collegues,
and i have to say it was the best steaks and burgers we had ever tasted.
nothing was burned, everything was cooked fresh and we enjoyed our meals.
we cant wait to go again. as i have already booked a table for around 20 of us for next weekend.

The atmosphere is always booming the milkshakes are addictive and the Beef Jerk Strips, try it as I cannot rate it enough, the best kind of food i have ever had, and I have eaten all over the uk.
Not to forget the friendly staff and management.

Excellent middle eastern grill house. Large portions and freshly made. There is a wait for the food, but not too long. Almost every time we have been it has been busy and we have had to wait for a table - well worth it.
Excellent, honest service - the waiters even told me we were ordering too much for our party size. That was a first....
Highly recommended.

First impressions of the restaurant were that it's not the biggest of place and perhaps they could work on the decor a little. However we were greeted by a very friendly face and our order was taken practically at the door, which is just the way I like it, provided that the food was served just as quickly.
I had two friends accompanying me and our sole purpose was to eat steak, so we ordered the T-Bone with chips. The portion was delightfully big, definitalty value for money as we paid £8.50 per portion.
I'm still looking for better value for money and Halal steak in Birmingham...
I would recommend Abu-Zayd's to most people who like relatively simple and tasty grilled food. The atmosphere was buzzing and being part of it reminded me of being in an authentic Arab styled diner with a lot of chitter-chatter. Check it out!

Abu Zayd Arabian Grill & Steakhouse, Birmingham is a modern trendy place serving great food. Exceptionally good value for money. Very lively atmosphere serve Arabic food, Steaks (one of the best I've had), freshly squeezed juices, milkshakes and ice creams. Nothing bad too say about the place. Just perfect.
