“Conniving little sc@mbags”

Written on: 08/12/2015 by PeterD01 (1 review written)

I held a business bond with Aldermore for one year. At the end of the term I did nothing with it, assuming they would put it in a standard non-interest bearing account. 5 months later I needed the money for a strategic business opportunity and development. They said they had put my money in another bond and that it couldn't be touched for another 6 months. My situation "didn't fit their criteria". So as a result I cannot develop my business. If anyone believes banks are there to assist business… Read Full Review

“Absolutely Shocking..... AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ”

Written on: 03/12/2015 by philcap1 (1 review written)

Read the reviews!!!!! .... We had a principal offer arranged in a day then Aldermore dragged out the process for 5 Months. The amount of questions asked was ridiculous and the fact that none of this was done in a timely manner, with obscure questions and random information asked for time and time again led us to believe they just didn't want to approve us. At least 75% of the information asked for could of be done so before the 'Offer in Principle' was granted. Eventually after given us 4… Read Full Review

I agree, going through a commercial mortgage, they use a solicitor firm called Shakespearesmartineau and the amount of repeat questions and non required questions are ridiculous. Aldermore are no better refusing to believe their legal representation that i'm paying for is in the wrong. When a complaint was mentioned they6 asked additional questions which i had already answered and with dates from the same person.
Im having to raise a complaint this week as my vender is about to walk away

“MORTGAGE... AVOID!!!”

Written on: 04/10/2015 by Llj15 (1 review written)

As first time buyers we were not aware of any details of how to purchase a home. Aldermore were quick to give us a decision in principle and also quick to take out our fee for the surveyor. Due to us taking out a loan BEFORE we even decided to buy the house (let alone go with Aldermore) this caused a disaster for us. We had the 5% deposit gifted to us from parents on the condition is doesn't go into our account until aldermore give us proof we are receiving a mortgage etc but aldermore just… Read Full Review

“Can't close account”

Written on: 17/09/2015 by SimonBerry (2 reviews written)

I opened a fixed rate account and didn't read the T&Cs - my mistake obviously! I had not put in the amount of money I wanted to so wanted so asked if I could add more - a big fat NO. So I asked if I could close the account - a big fat NO. I can however open another account and put the additional money into that, how stupid is that! Who makes up these stupid rules. So I'm left with an account with a bit of money in it for 2 years which I can't close! Do yourself a favour and go to another… Read Full Review

“5% HTB No Problems!”

Written on: 14/08/2015 by Rippedoffmick (1 review written)

Own bank would not entertain a 95% Help to Buy mortgage. I have an average credit history, with a 3 year old default for a gas bill when I left the armed forces. I used a Mortgage Advisor who dealt with Aldermore on my behalf. No problems at all. Picked my keys up today, over the moon. Refreshing that a bank looks at the bigger picture rather than just what a computer churns out. If you have a less than perfect credit file and would like to take advantage of the government HTB scheme, then… Read Full Review

“Arrogant and misleading”

Written on: 10/08/2015 by Sims453 (1 review written)

We would recommend that you avoid Aldermore at all costs. We have found the staff to be arrogant and condescending. We also believe that we have been misled with the type of account that we have been sold. In spite of documented evidence they refute this. As a result we are currently caused financial hardship and the potential of financial penalties from other organisations. Despite having a savings account with access, they refuse to allow our business access to funds needed to pay a… Read Full Review

decided to open small fixed term savings account. Did it all online, simple process. Acknowledgements and preliminary paperwork arrived next day, further information a day later and this morning - only about 4 days after opening it - confirmation of deposit received and statement with account details etc. So far, so good, would recommend them on grounds of efficiency. Website easy to navigate and am impressed with simple and clear paperwork and documents. No complaints… Read Full Review

“Worried For Nothing. Great Company”

Written on: 05/06/2015 by Xtcivirus (1 review written)

as with infoseeker I wanted to write a review that would balance the odds on what I found to be a great company. Working in an industry where we never get feedback other than bad, this settled my mind a little and I wanted to make sure the same didn't happen for these guys. After reading every review in here AFTER I had already paid my fees to Aldermore I started to panic with all the bad reviews. I refused to get excited about anything in regards to my house purchase. Something I should… Read Full Review

“Mortgage Approved and all is well”

In the interests of balance I decided to write a review after viewing others posts and asking questions of people here. I was referred to Aldermore by a whole of market mortgage broker I found with a google search after been refused a Mortgage by my high street bank due to some old but settled bad debts. I had in total 4 Defaults and 1 CCJ. All settled over a year ago and almost 6 years old. (these were partial settlements) I am a high earner. “Lovely people, apalling service”

My husband and I are trying to open two Isa's with Aldermore. The sales team are enchanting and sold me the bank - the young man even said what a nice bank it was to work for. BUT the processing system was appalling. I filled in the form, and even rang the bank twice to ask advice, I did everything I was told. We move house 7 months ago, when I sent my husband and my driving licences to the DVLA asking to change our address, they put the name of our flat on his and only the number of our… Read Full Review

“to be avoided if possible”

Written on: 25/03/2015 by Ruiz200 (1 review written)

i applied for a buy to let mortgage they kept me in a dialogue for 13 week and then rejected me after charging me £800+ for a valuation fee they asked for information on a peacemeal basis over months a more organised service could have established whther i was eligible in a few days and saved me the expense and all the stress it is about time this sector of the market is regulated; they have a financial incentive to collect valuation fees and you have no easy recourse if they subsequently… Read Full Review

Same thing happened to my wife and I. They immediately did a survey after we signed the declaration and then charged us £500. They then rejected our proposal for a mortgage, although the advisor said that there wouldn't be a problem. We are currently sending in a complaint to them, after which we will contact the Financial Ombudsman. We may not get the £500 but its worth trying.

I made enquires on what recourse i had and was told that since it was a "buy to let" mortgage there was no regulatory authority to complain to , it was effectively an unregulated market and i would have to pursue it as a civil matter which would involve solicitors fees so didnt pursue it. well good luck with your complaint, they should be held accountable for their appalling behaviour!

“Not a Bad Word to Say - All Positive - Mortgage Review”

Written on: 16/03/2015 by 295O'Neill (1 review written)

I discovered Aldermore by chance and was pleased to discover that they accept direct customers. I had been attempting to use a broker who was well below par, when Aldermore advised I could apply in person. The customer service and support was exceptional, I cannot fault the staff in any way and found them to be both professional and highly responsive. Can you give more info? How much money did you pay and to who? I just had an offer in principal within hours which makes me suspicious. Not handing money to anyone unless I know its 100%! I have some defaults going back 5years now but perfect payment on everything since. Still high street banks won't touch me for another year until they delete from my credit file.

“Aldermore NEGATIVE DISHONEST ”

Written on: 10/01/2015 by Mathewcoker (1 review written)

NEGATIVE NEGATIVE NEGATIVE!!!! I've had a mortgage for 7+ years never missed or been late on a payment. My credit was not perfect when we applied for a mortgage as previously I had borrowed from a payday loan company (I would not do this again). I was honest with Aldermore from the beginning printed off a copy of my credit report they even did a credit check. Once this was done they sent out a mortgage offer. We found a property which we had an offer accepted on. Aldermore asked for £300+… Read Full Review

I had the same problem even though I went through a broker, I have now lost not only the £500 for the survey (£300 for a survey that you cant see or £500 for one that you can) but £27500 that I paid at auction for the 10% deposit. I am now taking legal proceedings against them.

The process took 7 weeks to come to this despite having the offer in the 1st week.

Pease all who experience this report them to the financial conduct Authority

Did you have a Mortgage in principal with them or an actual offer? seems very strange to risk going to buy an auction property with a bad credit company. Putting down 10% would scare me to death. if its none refundable I would personally not risk anything unless its 110% bullet proof.
