Sony Ericsson Jalou

Sony Ericsson Jalou

Summary
Sony Ericsson Jalou

Pros
Really compact size ; keypad has a nice clicky feel ; 3G and Bluetooth A2DP wireless connectivity ; microSD card slot for expanded memory

Cons
Main LCD panel is too reflective ; lacks a camera flash ; doesn't come with PC data cable and microSD card

Verdict
The design resembles a gem with its polished, glossy surface and clean-cut lines (read: Epic bling). The only downside to this is that it attracts fingerprint smudges too easily. A 1.3-inch front display which notifies you of incoming calls and text ...

Sony Ericsson Jalou
8 Oct 2009

Summary
The Sony Ericsson Jalou is a clamshell cellphone aimed strictly for fashionistas: its 3.2 megapixel camera and 2-inch screen won't have any spec eggheads getting hot and bothered, but that's not the point. The 3G Sony Ericsson Jalou is a piece of ...

Pros
Even compared to the dwarfish Sony Ericsson T715, the Sony Ericsson Jalou is minuscule. Measuring just 73x45x18.2mm, it won't just fit in any handbag, but any purse too. The sparkling case is gorgeous, and the external screen, which shows caller ...

Cons
As you'd expect from a fashion mobile, the Sony Ericsson Jalou is not a smartphone. We've got no issues there, but what we can't forgive is the irritating lag. You can actually see the homescreen animations jutter, even when you're not downloading or ...

Verdict
Samsung and LG have been pushing their "chic" touchscreen Armani and Prada phones for years, but compared to the Sony Ericsson Jalou, they're size 18s. The Sony Ericsson Jalou is the new model on the catwalk: dim, but petite, striking and desirable. ...

Sony Ericsson Jalou review
12 Oct 2009

Summary
Gone are the days when fashion phones were more popular than a Kate Moss-branded dress. However, like a particular trendy slice of vintage finery, the genre is making a comeback and the Sony Ericsson Jalou is leading the charge. But is this trendy ...

Pros
Looks great, helping bring back the fashion phone, Google Maps, 3G

Cons
No 3.5mm jack, laggy UI

Verdict
A decent stab at resurrecting the fashion phone, even if Sony Ericsson's refusal to use a 3.5mm jack remains infuriating

Sony Ericsson Jalou
13 Oct 2009

Summary
The Jalou's jewel-like design is a clear indication that it's aimed at a female audience -- its main display even doubles as a mirror -- but this fashion phone offers plenty of substance to go with its style. Cramming a decent camera and MP3 player ...

Pros
Convenient size ; unique design ; crams in a decent camera and music player, among other features

Cons
Screen is too shiny ; small number keys ; SD card slot is inconveniently located under the battery

Verdict
It could have been all style and no substance, but the Sony Ericsson Jalou turns out to be a remarkably versatile and convenient piece of technology, packing loads of features into a tiny package

Samsung Tocco F480
17 Nov 2008

The phone looks really nice and works great, when it works.
I have had this phone fixed once and it still does the same thing. I have only had it for 4 months. I also find sending texts that I tend to send the message before I have finished typing it because the space button is so close to the send button.

Orange Rome
14 Sep 2009

I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this Orange Rome phone. I hate it, hate it, hate it! It's the text function which bothers me the most - their version of predictive text is eziABC (ie all capitals) or eziabc (all small letters) with no Abc option (ie to capitalise at the start of sentences!). There is also no save to dictionary option for words not already in the phone. The only real way to use it is to tap through. The silent messages and poor screen mentioned by others are...
