“The best buffet Chinese you will find”

★★★★★

written by reviewer0123 on 12/03/2012

Can't really fault Cosmo, Coventry. There is a huge selection of Chinese, Indian and Thai food. Chefs will often cook your food in front of you in an awesome display. It is a little pricey, but worth it. The ambiance is spectacular. Don't fill up too much on the main courses as the dessert selection is amazing, especially the chocolate fountain!

“pink chicken in all chicken dishes, gave us foodpoisaning”

written by helen452 on 10/03/2012

Cosmos Coventry used to be amazing now it is poor at best! Chicken has been pink the last 2 times I have been but after we went on the 4th march 2012 the pink chicken finally gave us food poisoning. So it’s amazing if you want to feel sick, have cramps, get the runs and lose your appetite for days on end. We also must have got the waiter on an off day as he was extremely rude! Apart from all those negatives the atmosphere is really nice and the decor is pretty but that’s all it has going for it. NEVER AGAIN!!!

It's no wonder my office have been banging on about having our staff party at COSMO - it's great!! I went for the first time the other day and cannot believe what I have been missing out on! I wouldn't even call it a 'buffet' (buffet to me means lots of food gone cold!) - The COSMO chefs cook your food in front you - you can't get much fresher than that! I was a bit concerned about the size of the flames at times - but they looked like they knew what they were doing and judging by the taste I would say they definately do! See you at Xmas with the rest of my colleagues!

Like most people, I suspect, I am pretty skepital about 'all you eat' restaurants but I am happy to admit I was very surprised by what I found in Cosmo. There is not only loads to choose from but it is all very tasty! They have several stations whereby the chefs will cook the food right in front of you.
The service is friendly and the price is fantastic! A very enjoyable evening with the family!

Visited with work colleagues for the first time last week. Was dubious before we went having experienced the Wing Wah but what a pleaseant surprise! Decor fabulous, atmosphere was fine bearing in mind there were 18 of us, no loud background music drowning out conversation. Service was 1st class, seated within 10 minutes of arriving by attentive staff. Food, well, believe me this was excellent, plent of choice, all hot aand plentiful, food stations well staffed, clean and replenished frequently. Will certainly be looking to pay a return visit as soon as possible!

“Introduction: ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/12/2009

Introduction:

Checked this place out on the 21st December, 2009, as it's the new kid on the block in Coventry, I thought I would give it a try (someone else was paying). This is a ALL YOU CAN EAT style buffet restaurant fusing Chinese, English and Italian cuisine.

Positives:

The building

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the lighting is inviting and this is where the positive end.

Negatives:

Atmosphere

There is just no atmosphere, as the music is so low you just can't hear it; the typical restaurant audio drowns it out.

Cliental

Take a look around and you notice the type of cliental a place like this attracts. It seems to me it attracts three types of people: 1) morbidly obese women (Michelins wife) who you have to try and fight with to get the last chicken drum stick! You also can't help but think to yourself what in gods name is a morbidly obese woman doing in an ALL YOU CAN EAT RESTAURANT. Besides morbidly obese women you will also find the other sex, a big fat bloke with his dropped gut looking like he is about to go into labour. 2) The lower element or in other words CHAVS giving you evils all night (innit blad) 3) Students (nothing wrong with that by the way).

The food

OMG THE FOOD IS DISGUSTING!!! I could be hear all night on about this but to put this briefly: If you like bones with no meat on, sesame seed prawn and toast with no prawns in, satay chicken pumped full of water, mini vegetable spring rolls with no vegetables in, miniature wafer thin pizzas, frozen plastic chips, frozen fish, deep fat fried prawns, deep fat fried eggs all CRAWLING IN SALT then I suggest you ring and reserve to guarantee your seats.

Unfortunately things don't get better on the dessert side of things. If you like miniature sized portions all made with ECONOMY ALDI ingredients then you will like Cosmo Coventry. In fact, if you like anything not fit for human consumption you will love Cosmos Coventry and I highly recommend it. For all the rest of us out there avoid this substandard so called restaurant at all costs. 1/10

I have been to Cosmo onces, and NEVER AGAIN. This place is all front, quality without compromise, LIE. Diners are limited to what to eat, when it's suppose to be a all you can eat? Wing Wah is far much better, I have tried Cosmo, but will be returning to Wing Wah for a proper meal.

Cosmo was terrible last night, a chaotic front-of-house with people (like us) who had reservations waiting ages to be seated - eventually we walked out when told we might have to wait 2.5 hours to be seated by a waitress who obviously didn't care at all!

“Went to Cosmo this lunchtime and how we wished we...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/09/2009

Went to Cosmo this lunchtime and how we wished we hadnt! The selection of starters was fine, but that is where the enjoy factor ended.

The chicken in the main courses was the frozen processed strips, the beef had not been trimmed of excess fat and the crispy pork was i would say crispy because it had been out so long as opposed for the fact it was cooked that way. The boiled rice was just solid lumps not nice to look at so we didnt risk eating it. I did sample the "Indian curry, which sadly i can only be described as of boil in the bag quality. The final nail in the coffin for my future custom was the "nan" bread, obviously the processed buy in the packet supermarket variety! Not even fresh!

Most of the dishes were barely warm and not enjoyable.

We found the staff quite unhelpful and the person we spoke to about the nan bread to be very rude and uninterested.

I have eaten at many lunchtime buffets in many parts of the country and this is one that i would never contemplate eating at again.

Their advertising slogan is "Quality without compromise" I cant see where the word quality can be applied to this establishment apart from the fact it has been compromised.

If ever you are out Peterborough way head for Spiceland nr Sawtry you will see how this buffet theme should be done!

very disapointing evening at cosmo, cutlery wasnt replaced for entire meal, long queue for tepanyaki and chef only capable of serving one at a time so it meant we all eat at diferent times or got cold food. Toilets dirty as well, Quality of food was very poor.

“This lovely venue was opened two weeks ago....”

★★★★★

written by Rene Mund on 26/08/2009

This lovely venue was opened two weeks ago. Recommended by a work colleague who had already lunch there, my family and I decided to go there and to see, if Cosmo brings 'opulence and decadent dining' as their website put it. Not really knowing what to expect we went there on Thursday night and found a large beautifully decorated restaurant dominated by a large buffet where the chefs were busily preparing food. We were seated after a short wait. The pleasant waitress informed us of how the restaurant worked and then left us to help ourselves to the food. The food i enjoyed the most was from the Yakitori Grill Bar and was really surprised at how good it was. My wife had food from the Indian Tandoori and Curry Bar, great to watch and the kids took something from the Sushi Bar.

For desert the kids went for the chocolate mountain, whereas my wife and I took some of the fresh prepared fruits. All in all the food was fresh, tasted great and service was good. I don't know how they do all food for £12 a go but all I can say its great value. Visit this place and you won't be disappointed.
