Description (provided by business)

Manchester Window Factory (HeadOffice CenturionHouse 129, Deansgate ManchesterM3 3WR) We promise not to sit in your house for hours on end reeling out a sales spiel which will only serve to insult your intelligence. Over the years, our business has grown organically through word-of-mouth. While most other companies in our sector are sales-driven, striving to reach their targets each week, our ethos is to focus on the customer, not the sales, as, in the long term our customers do our selling for us. We take pride in our after-sales service too. Again, by looking after the customers we have, we don't have to spend thousands each week on advertising. In today's internet age, the true reputation of a company can be found at the click of a mouse. We take pride in our reputation and strive each day to ensure our customers keep coming back and saying nice things about us.

“bi-folding doors”

Written on: 24/07/2014 by lassbello (1 review written)

Manchester windows fitted bi-folding doors to our living room a couple of weeks ago and they have been open all the way back each day since. It's almost as though the garden has become part of the house and the light simply floods in. I had to call them out for a service call after a couple of days because I was having difficulty sliding them and they arrived the same day. As I wasn't here on the day of the installation they had been through the operation process of sliding them with my husband… Read Full Review

“lovely windows”

The windows have a lovely detailing and sight-line gaskets so there aren't those big black rubber seals between the frame and the glass. The locks are very substantial and the handles are of the highest quality. The window fitters were polite and worked well as a team to complete the order to a very high standard… Read Full Review

“Replacement French windows”

We have had our French windows replaced this morning and we are absolutely thrilled with the end result. The joiners arrived at 8 am this morning, it's now 11am and they've finished! They have made no mess at all and the decoration has been left intact. The quality of the doors is so much better than our old ones. We have a handle on each door instead of those silly finger bolts and they just feel one hundred times more secure. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality job… Read Full Review

Even though their price was the second highest out of the four we received we ordered with MWF and haven't looked back. They have by far the best reputation and we have experienced why for ourselves. Customer service, reliability, honesty and quality of their products have been amazing and we will be recommending them to family, friends and neighbours… Read Full Review

“A great reputation and well deserved”

My family and I have been using MWF for over seven years now since we first saw their concession in Stretford Arndale Centre. My cousin was actually one of the first to review them on this website! In that time they have always had the same staff and worked to the same very high standards. I can see that they now work nationwide so it's great to see them grow, especially in this climate. I would recommend them to everybody. They are really nice people and care about doing the job right. They… Read Full Review

Found MWF to be easy to deal with, no sales patter and you deal directly with the owners. Fitters are all very polite and considerate. They do a great job and talk you through the installation. Communication from office is good. We were given exact times and dates of arrival and everything ran like clockwork. No complaints at all… Read Full Review

Theirs was the best quality I could find and doubt had I searched for another 12 months I would have found anything better. AAA energy rating, SAC BOLTS hardened steel locks, 5 chambered system (all the others are only 3). Add this to the fact the joiners are employees and they offer a ten year fuuly comp insurance backed warranty. No salesmen or advertising means they can still be competitive with a much better product. Now THAT'S value for money!… Read Full Review

I've used them 3 times over the last 5 or 6 years and they've always done a great job. The bosses are friendly and genuine and the staff are older gents that are time served joiners and that makes the real difference. They turn up on time and get to work and don't leave until you are happy with everything. My house is all done now so unless I move I won't need them again but my daughter has just moved into a doer upper so she'll be getting them in next. I'm sure she'll be as happy as I've been… Read Full Review

From the initial enquiry through to completion, my dealings with this company have been most satisfactory. The quotation consultation took around 40 minutes for the whole house and I was very impressed with the professionalism and honesty from one of the owners. I was given excellent advice and was happy to be led by what he thought were good ideas. The windows and doors were installed by their own staff, i.e. not by subcontractors and the finishing off was neat and tidy. All debris was removed… Read Full Review

“Unbelievably poor service”

Written on: 21/07/2014 by Brian1066 (1 review written)

Having had £8500 worth of windows and doors installed in January this year by Manchester Window factory (MWF), I noticed leaks under the front and french doors and one in my newly plastered utility room. I telephoned an advisor only to be advised I could "put some cork between the leak in the french door and the new wooden floor" as that would stop the water getting to it? After this conversation, I told him I would only communicate by e-mail. I then went to the QUANGO CERTASS who proved to… Read Full Review

Alexmorton's Response to Brian1066's Review

Written on: 22/07/2014

Alex here from MWF
Fortunately, I have the right to respond to these reviews and give a balanced account of this situation.
Following installation, we were contacted by Mr O'D who spoke to me on the phone about a range of issues which I listened to with interest. That 'advisor' was, in fact, me and I certainly did not tell him to "just put some caulk in the leak". Some of the issues he described to me simply did not make sense and, as there was other work being carried out at the same time by other companies, asked him to explore the possibility that there was an alternative cause of the damage to his plasterwork. He told me that a pinhead sized section of missing silicone on the underside of a sill joggle had caused plasterwork damage around his French doors on the floor below. This simply did not add up.
Mr O'D then told us that he would commission an independent survey, which we welcomed. When we received this "survey" it was sent from a mobile phone in text speak ("if i woz u etc etc) and included a list of over-priced costings for totally unnecessary works. When I tried to find the company it was from I found no record. When I asked for their credentials, I received no reply.
Getting nowhere, I asked CERTASS to arbitrate on the issue as I felt that Mr O'D's demands were unjustified and I was not willing to pay a trumped-up figure for work which was not required. When they did carry out their survey, the found only that there were some missing areas of silicone which Mr O'D had himself removed.
Wanting to put the matter to bed, our installations manager carried out the work himself and checked that Mr O'D was happy that we had carried CERTASS's recommendations and asked if there was anything else he would like done. He said that he was happy and we assumed the matter was closed.
I can only assume that Mr O'D finds CERTASS to be "useless" because they did not uphold his or the author of his "report's" claims. As members of CERTASS we are also members of the government endorsed TRUSTMARK scheme. We asked them to arbitrate on this matter and willingly carried out their recommendations. This is the first time we have ever had to do this. Usually we will do everything we can to keep our customers happy. That, however, does not, and should not, mean that we bow to their demands where we feel we are not at fault.
We have carried out over 2000 installations in that past 12 months alone. If we did not care about our aftersales service, there would be many such reviews posted online. We take great pride in our reputation. Where a customer has a legitimate issue, we will always try to remedy this is quickly and effectively as possible.

If they've called in the regulator and carried out the required work, where is the problem??? If they were not coming back then I could understand this gripe. But not when the issue has been resolved!!
We had great service from them and I agree that they should not be dictated to by customers and held to ransom.
I bought my windows from MWF because of their reviews and if they were no good I would be on here shouting about bad service, as would many, many others.
I agree with Geoff.lawrenson on this work. Keep up the good work.

I think it was Abraham Lincoln who said, “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.” or words to that effect.
Both you and your brother have offered nothing but exemplary service to us when we had our work done. The whole job went without a hitch and we have been recommending your company.
Some people have nothing better to do than to look for problems and are never satisfied. I'm sure that most people will read between the lines and take this review for what it is...vindictive and nasty.
We know you take great pride of your reputation and you have over 1400 other testimonies rated 5 stars. There's always one, take no notice and keep up the good work.

Excellent quality products and an outstanding level of service that went above and beyond the normal call of duty. We had lots of questions and sent emails in the evening after work expecting them to be dealt with the next day. They were all replied to within a few minutes of sending them and all information requested was provided without a fuss. “They use their own fitters”

Written on: 20/07/2014 by WesleyT (1 review written)

I have worked in the d/g industry in the past and have found that the best companies are those which use their own fitters. Sub contracted fitters can be a nightmare to manage because they don't actually work for the company and may be juggling other companies' work while they are doing yours. I know MWF use their own fitters and it shows in the service level as they are not hurrying off to another job. Whether you use MWF or not, please take my advice and DO NOT use a company which… Read Full Review

The fitters are good and the installation was well managed, but I wanted to mention the locking system they use. As an engineer I have some appreciation on these matters and, being security conscious, was eager to find a decent system. The SAC system is by far the best out there. They charge extra for this (they do the usual shoot bolt system as standard), but the SAC system is worth the upgrade… Read Full Review

“Windows and doors in North London”

Written on: 20/07/2014 by Toby_Jones (1 review written)

Having recently moved from Dorset to North London we didn't have anybody to call on to recommend a decent glazing company. All the people we had out gave us the feeling they were trying to rip us off. We read a few of MWF's reviews from people outside the North West so gave them a call. They looked at our house on Google Streetview to give us an idea on cost, which seemed fine. So we asked them to come over, which was no problem to them given the size of the order. It was such a relief finding… Read Full Review

We always refer to online forums before making any significant purchase and when it came to double glazing it was no different. We loved the reviews on MWF and, to be honest, thought they were a bit too good to be true. They offered a no obligation quote so we thought we would see for ourselves....nothing ventured etc etc. I have to say we were incredibly impressed with the whole approach: a professional initial visit followed up with a detailed quote. Having sat through hours and hours of double glazing patter from salespeople desperate to get me to sign on the dotted line, it was really refreshing dealing with the brothers who own MWF. I got none of the flannel (as they say "windows without the bull"), just some honest professional advice from people who know their industry inside out. The work itself matched the promises made and the guys worked well together to complete a professional installation on time and with the minimum of… Read Full Review
