I always book and pay for extra leg room seats that are advertised, by Thomsons, Thomas Cook etc,and have never had any issues before. Therefore,I booked and paid for extra leg room seats on this last trip with Thomsons, from Gatwick to Morocco. I was shocked to find that the extra leg room seats came at the expense of the seats not being able to recline at all, and I mean zilch. Thereby the extra comfort, that I had booked and paid extra for, was totally wiped out. In short I got my... (read more)

We have just returned from the Dominican Republic with Thomson Airways and are simply appalled by the attitude of the staff on the plane. They simply could not care less. In particular, one Stewardess called Marta shouted ranted and raved after me calling her on her attitude and the fact that she blatantly ignored my wife's polite request. I asked to speak with the cabin manager Dieter who failed to make contact in the remained 7 hours of the flight. When we departed the aircraft and I... (read more)

We have just experienced a 29 hour delay on our return from Sharm El Sheik to Newcastle. We took off on time from Sharm but two hours into the flight the captain informed us that there was a problem with a sensor which would need to be looked at by an engineer. It was therefore necessary for us to land at Athens to see if an engineer could look at the problem. After over an hour on the tarmac we were informed that an engineer was not available and that the crew had now run out of flight... (read more)

At airport staff couldn't understand extra legroom seats were always available to book... I could pay for them there and then AND I WOULD GET MY MONEY BACK! Same on the return journey. On my return contacted Thomson asked for £48 refund. 4 MONTHS OF EMAILS NO REFUND!!! YES 4 MONTHS. Even after contacting someone in the CEO. Would I use them again,... (read more)

So I decided that I wanted a package holiday with Thomson because it's meant to be a big company so I trusted it. We were delayed for over 4 hours before getting the flight to Greece. I didn't mind because stuff happens and flights can be delayed but the flight was also delayed on the way back for over 5 hours during the night so we literally felt like we had been travelling overnight. The hotel they put us in was overly disgusting, there was NO cleanliness and our hotel was cleaned ONCE... (read more)

With regard to your delayed flights - if the delay was in excess of 3 hours (take off until touchdown) and was not a result of extraordinary circumstances (ie volcanic ash, snow, riot, strike) you are entitled to a payment of 400€ per passenger x 2 (as you had return flights ~ both delayed). I cannot comment on the conditions of your hotel and your service there only the airline delay. You may wish to look on a website such as MSE (MoneySavingExpert) to confirm your entitlement or you could employ a no win/no fee firm however they will take 20 > 30% of your payment.

Bournemouth to Arrecife and return My wife and I have booked our last 2 holidays through Thomson and like other reviewers,we always feel that the flight is part of the holiday experience. Thomson seem to want to ‘milk’ as much from the passengers as is possible, and in this respect are no better than Ryanair or Easyjet. Our abiding impression is that the cabin crew, whilst smiling outwardly, are anxious to complete their duties and get it over and done with. Apart from the rip-off... (read more)

We travelled with Thomson to Bodrum in June 2012, having travelled with Thomson last year to Egypt I was so disappointed, what a difference a year makes! You no longer get any form of inflight entertainment, you can no longer pre book a meal, thank god that we had brought a Boots meal deal at the airport to take on board with us, as their new food menu is very over priced and limited. We flew to Taba in Egypt in May and knew there would be no meals, so we bought sandwiches in the airport for the outward journey and decided to buy a baguette on the aircraft for the homeward journey. They were disgusting - it consisted of one piece of back bacon that was thin, hard, had a rancid taste and a bad colour. We will never again purchase any snack on a medium haul flight. Aircraft disgusting....who makes it dirty? I work in the railway industry and the biggest moan is dirty trains, who leaves free newspapers everywhere, empty coffe cups, lakes of vomit, discarded tissues and other unmentionable items. You seem to require little slave boys following you around cleaning up probably like your wife does. The abuse, you the passenger, give to airliners (multi million pound pieces of equipment) is quite astonishing. If you want pristine aircraft interior fly first class with a major scheduled airline, but there again would you have a two week holiday for £500? more likely to be £5000. Get real you get what you pay for, would you buy a Fiat 500 and expect a Rolls Royce

A big question is, how did you ask why you did not have extra leg room. Many years experience in flying most passengers use the flight crew as kicking posts for everything, lateness, no meals, bumpy weather, air traffic control disputes etc etc. They know nothing about your booking, they are there as a legal requirement for your safety as laid down by the CAA, yet they serve, sell and clean up, yet they are still treated like dirt!

Dear Sir, My comment about Thompson Air Crew is accurate and honest.
There was a Lady with small Children sitting in our Extra Leg Room Seating which I paid in advance for and showed at the Check In Desk when we boarded our Flight. I said to the Air Steward that I would be happy with any seat that is available as the Aircraft was completely packed out.
I just did not have the heart to move a Women with her young Children from our Seating. Nonetheless I was asked very rudely by the Air Steward to show proof of my Holiday and Seating which I paid for in advance.
He was quite impolite about this in front of my Wife and a plane packed full of other passengers. His excuse why he could not offer us our seats was that all their Aircraft were stuck in Greece due to an Air Traffic Control Strike over there. I was spoken to in a very nasty way and he used a very nasty tone of voice to me in front of a packed plane of other passengers. I found this unacceptable and have already complained to Thompson. You will be telling me next the Air Crew work for Charity, are you sure you do not work for them? I have never had any problems of this kind before, and I have been to a lot of places. Shame on you Thompson Holidays from Anthony Hill

If someone you didnt know came into your place of work and said they had paid for something, you would not give it to them without some proof. The crew were just doing their job. I expect from your tone in these posts that you probably spoke to the crew like dirt - hence you will not of got the response you wanted. And yes, I do work for an airline1

Well I wrote to Thomson's director who failed to respond. Her 'directors team' (yes they get so many complaints that the the MD has a team to respond) accepted all the points raised and admitted liability but refused to offer compensation. Thomson simply don't care. They accept and admit that they are sub-standard but won't deal with it.
I for one will never use Thomson again and by the time I've finished they will have lost many customers which will have cost them far more than what I asked for. Bad decision Thomson, customer service is the worst ever and after care is almost as bad.
My advice - avoid at all cost. Thomson make Ryan Air look like a private jet.

Easy next step, go online to your local county court and issue a claim for a suitable amount through the fast track small claims system. ( small claims can be up to £5000 ! ).
It wont cost much probably about £85 which you can bill them for in your claim. They will never bother unless you cost them money, its the nobly language they understand. If you had put a foot wrong on that flight they wouldnt hesitate to press charges against you.
you have started so well, now finish the job!!
good luck
