Great phone, easy to use, has some very impressive and useful features, the only negative comment that i would make is that the buttons are very close together, but really i am nit-picking because overall this is a fantastic phone and is great value for money. Would reccomend to anyone. 10 out of 10!

After having read these reviews I thought I had bought a different phone as the majority of comments are a load of rubbish.
I had to check I did have an Orange Rome phone.
Firstly you don't need a car charger lead as you have a USB lead with it so all you need is a car adaptor with a USB socket in it.(not rocket science)
    Screen quality is very good.
As far as the background always changing the owner obviously hasn't switched off the Flick sensor which changes the screen if you shake it.
    So you ...

    I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PHONE!!

The one, simple function I wanted it for - to make and receive telephone calls - is utterly USELESS. The person on the other end of the phone is muffled and I can here a delay of my own voice when I am talking, which is extremely distracting and the person on the other end of the phone can only hear me as a tinny sound, as if I'm far away from the speaker. Don't even get me started on the STUPID text messaging system, in which you can either write in CAPS or lower ...

This a a horrible phone, I hate it! I wanted a basic, easy to use phone, this is so basic its a pain in the ass! I wanted to just do easy quick texts only now i have to go through the motions of getting it to the standard input of either lower case or upper case letters. I love predicive txt but on this phone its impossible as it does not recognise most abreviated words and there is no option of adding them like on most phones. Then you have to tell it to send the message on three different s ...

Difficult to write texts. I had to go through 7 menus to send a text. Also sentences don't automatically start with a capital letter. The screen quality is abysmal, the plastic in front of the screen is too reflective, almost mirror like. The battery life is not very good. The home screen keeps going back to a factory default image. Even though I keep changing it to an image I've uploaded to the phone. Unless you want a £50 door stop, DON'T buy this phone !

Its ok, but my last phone that cost £9 was loads better. While it didnt have a camera, sending a text was much easier, as it allowed you to spell words with a capital at the beginning in predictive, and you could add words to your dictionary. So much less hassle.
I just wish i could take it back!!!

Orange Rome Mobile Phone Review (October 2009)

    Please don't buy this phone.

I was seduced by the 'quite' high-spec camera and bluetooth at a very reasonable price, but it was a very bad choice.

    1. When you write a text the only options appear to be ALL UPPER CASE or all lower case; unless you're prepared to keep changing the case and tap out each character individually.

    2. There doesn't appear to be any way to add new words to the phone's dictionary.

    3. You have to use one of the redicul ...

Maybe at 40 I'm getting old but I'm very surprised at the other reviews posted here because I think the Orange Rome is actually well worth the cost. It's sleek, stylish, robust handset fits perfectly in your pocket. It has functions galore including camera, video capture,FM radio, bluetooth and supports MP3.You can also charge the battery from your PC's usb port which is great while browsing the web.It cost £40-the same as my Nokia which didn't even have a memory card slot! After years with awful ...

It's cheap for a very good reason. Although having said that I could have got a (probably) perfectly adequate Samsung for another tenner. You live and learn I suppose.

I am glad i did not read the other reviews before i bought this phone. It is stylish, easy to use and must be one of the best value for money phones on the market. It has a good selection of ring tones and all my friends think it is great. I think the other reviwers have forgoten how cheap it was.

Absolute rubbish phone. Bought it as a replacement of my dead phone just for a while until i could afford a good one. I paid £40 for this and was very dissapointed. It scratches easily, the screen is rubbish... I really dont think there are any good points at all.

I bought this ROME on impulse as I wanted a cheap camera phone, and this was on offer for students...I wish I had read these reviews before I'd gone shopping! I found the display too small, the characters hardly distinguishable (and my eyesight is good), the menus were illogical BUT the biggest criticism is the ringtones!! There aren't any, well, any that you'd want to hear. The people at Orange seem to think that you'd want to hear some French accordian music (over 1 min) every time you get a t ...

I bought this phone as a spare in case my BlackBerry breaks down. And after just 5 minutes of playing with this phone, I put it back in the box. It is the worst, most awfully though-out heap of rubbish that dares to call itself a mobile phone!! And I've owned Sagems in the past so that's really saying something. Avoid this dreck like the plague! And the ringtones are loud, but incredibly naff. As is the non-ability to have your own sound as a SMS alert. It's laughable! Try viewing the screen in ...

I too wish i'd read these reviews. My old phone broke so i needed a cheap new one, just for sending texts and making the odd call--i thought this would be a bargain as it looked fairly good. Plus, as a student i got £10 off, so it was only £19!
Unfortunately, the price showed. The interface is terrible, the buttons are too small, it's a nightmare to insert and take out the sim (even the guys at the orange shop managed to destroy a sim card trying) and overall this phone is abysmal.

I wish I had read these reviews before I bought this Orange Rome phone. I hate it, hate it, hate it! It's the text function which bothers me the most - their version of predictive text is eziABC (ie all capitals) or eziabc (all small letters) with no Abc option (ie to capitalise at the start of sentences!). There is also no save to dictionary option for words not already in the phone. The only real way to use it is to tap through. The silent messages and poor screen mentioned by others are ...

Orange Rome is the worst phone I have ever owned. Only bought it for cheap, but regret even spending £29 on this phone. It is awful, dreadful the message alert is so daft you have to have a tune rather than an alert - either that or silence. It is so bad i can't stand having it in my bag. So, I decided to change my SIM to an old phone and the SIM won't come out - have tried everything including friends.

I have been disappointed with the Orange Rome phone. it looks good until you are in bright sunlight when you can't then see the screen - very dangerous if you need to use it in an emergency.

The text tone is ridiculous. You have to have either silent or a full blown orchestra - there is no beep beep. the orchestra then plays again when you want to view it.

texting is also awful unless you like predictive texting.

Buy something else - this was the worse buy I have ever made. ...

Very basic handset and isn't very appealing to the eye.

Battery life not as good as other phones i have had.

Turns itself off while browsing the internet.

    Limited memory.

Screen quality is low and dark.

    ---

I only bought this as a spare phone for a month or so until i can get a new one on a contract. When i saw it it looked like good value for money. When i unboxed the Orange Rome I was very dissapointed.
