Great Value for money phone, It has everything you would really need in a phone a good 2MP camera, Mp3 Player, Call, Text, FM Radio and All For £9-00!!!. The people at Orange where also very helpful in transferring my Virgin Mobile Number over. The only issue that I do have is that the Signal for the GPRS is not great in that I have to be outside to use it... Apart from that a Great Little Phone!!! (read more)

I've had this phone for a while and so far I haven't had any problems with it. I have to admit the predictive text is a bit annoying, but with time you get used to it. It is a basic phone, but it has all the things you really need on it. A great value for money phone, I know people who've spent double the amount on a phone and still had problems. The screen is horrific, turning off the keylock takes great patience and generally speaking, this is a terrible phone. I only needed a cheap phone until I had the money to afford a better one, and granted you get what you pay for, but I would have rathered a more expensive, less annoying phone. Ok, so the Rome is easy to use, but the buttons seem to ignore you and do what they want, the predictive text is just odd and everytime I have to use this phone, I just get narked off with it and I... Well, its a simple phone, with all the gadgets of a top class phone for a fraction of the cost. The batery life lasts between full and high due to my setting changes, and plays the music i want fine. Id recomend this phone for many people who are wanting a new phone on a budget. I paid £20 and for my £20 i got 36 to 40 MB internal memory, the new Bluetooth, and a 2.0mp camara. My old phone which had a 1.3mp camara and 16MB of internal memory cost me £45. Just look at the value difference,... (read more)

Although a nice neat looking little phone, I find it pretty frustrating! Lots of annoying things like the defaulting to capitals in texting, and all the menu that you have to go through just to send a text. I keep losing a whole long text when clearing, because it decides to wipe the lot if I decide to try and delete a few words by holding clear button down. I would recommend this product for children as it is a very solid phone and has a very exciting camera. i would say it is a good phone all round and it was worth the 14 quid i paid for it.
i also loved the way it reacts so quickly and how the menu was laid out.

The menus are terribly laid out and not at all intuitive. Why do i have to confirm the sending of text message twice? The predictive text is the worst I have ever used, and cannot even do Abc mode (forces you to pick either ABC or abc). Cannot add new words and the phone will force you to type a new word in 2 parts; if it doesn't know the word it stops you after a few letters, you have to accept that and then finish the word.
This is the worst phone I have owned, including those dating back...

Agree with many comments on this thread. The phone isn't the best I've ever bought, capitals for texting (eh?), phone locks after a very short time when not in use, the wallpaper changes itsel, there's no means of downloading the text alerts and the choices of alert were awful, as were the ring tone choices. At least I could download something better. And, it doesn't seem like anyone sells a skin or case specifically for that phone. Does anyone know who actually made this model (nokia?). (read more)

very good phone the applications are brilliant and I very much enjoy the music player on it, the camera is qiuck and easy to use aswell. also it is not hard at all to recieve and view your texts and phone calls either. there is a good variety of games to, also it is moderately light so it isn't heavy when you put into your pocket. The style is I think very modern and in my oppinion more stylish then most of the phones in it's category.

Cussed designers have gone out of their way to make things awkward. Horrible SMS alert choices can only be silenced, but not replaced by the user. We specifically wanted sensible text entry, but the Abc option is not included. Predictive text sucks. It is cheap, but still very poor value for money if you plan on using the damn thing. Okay so it's not the most features packed piece of kit on the market. Neither is it the most user friendly, but it does everything I want and for £25 I think it was good value for money.
The best thing about is the fact that it switches itself off at night so that I can't be woken up by Orange's irritating - 'Sorry you didn't top up by £100 this month, no bonus for you'- texts in the middle of the night.

I am aware that ROME(ORANGE) is a cheap phone, but there are too many menus to go through before doing much with it. I have yet to work out how to use the speed dial facility which I have set up. Mediocre phone, although decent looking.
Txt messaging is a PAIN. CAPS is their default txt! Who does that?
Bad ringtones.
Okay screen. Wallpaper doesn't stay on - it selects its own one arbitrarily whenever it wants (or I'm missing something, and even if I am missing something, it shouldn't be that way - ever).
Worst of all - it comes with charger that Orange no longer stocks, so good luck if you lose yours.

Firstly you don't need a car charger lead as you have a USB lead with it so all you need is a car adaptor with a USB socket in it.(not rocket science)
Screen quality is very good.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PHONE!!
The one, simple function I wanted it for - to make and receive telephone calls - is utterly USELESS. The person on the other end of the phone is muffled and I can here a delay of my own voice when I am talking, which is extremely distracting and the person on the other end of the phone can only hear me as a tinny sound, as if I'm far away from the speaker. Don't even get me started on the STUPID text messaging system, in which you can either write in CAPS or...

Difficult to write texts. I had to go through 7 menus to send a text. Also sentences don't automatically start with a capital letter. The screen quality is abysmal, the plastic in front of the screen is too reflective, almost mirror like. The battery life is not very good. The home screen keeps going back to a factory default image. Even though I keep changing it to an image I've uploaded to the phone. Unless you want a £50 door stop, DON'T buy this phone ! (read more)

Its ok, but my last phone that cost £9 was loads better. While it didnt have a camera, sending a text was much easier, as it allowed you to spell words with a capital at the beginning in predictive, and you could add words to your dictionary. So much less hassle.

Orange Rome Mobile Phone Review (October 2009)
Please don't buy this phone.
I was seduced by the 'quite' high-spec camera and bluetooth at a very reasonable price, but it was a very bad choice.
1. When you write a text the only options appear to be ALL UPPER CASE or all lower case; unless you're prepared to keep changing the case and tap out each character individually.
2. There doesn't appear to be any way to add new words to the phone's dictionary.
3. You have to use one of the...
