Good Points: Highly readable and informative, it offers a great history of Inca culture and reasonable explanations for some of the unknowns of Inca history. We just returned from a long trip to Ecuador and Peru and felt well informed on what we were seeing from having read this book.
General comments: The White Rock by Hugh Thomson is highly readable and informative. I had an expert in Inca history and culture in Peru comment repeatedly on how much Peruvian history I seemed to know. He was not familiar with this book, and asked me to send him a copy, which I will. I think it should be required reading for anyone setting off to see Machu Pichu.
