I have just built a new house and went to Victoria Plumb and Bathstore to supply the bathroom fittings (3 toilets, 2 baths, 2 showers, taps, etc.).

I selected them because they were cheap. Buying from Victoria Plumb saved me abut £500 compared to a local supplier and this was important.

The VP bath was flimsy and required a carpenter to build a cradle around to support it. When it was initially fitted the bath flexed so much that it couldn't be fixed to the wall and were constantly breaking the silicone seal. The bath only had 4 legs with nothing to support the middle, so when you stood up and took a shower the bath again flexed and allowed water down the side. The bath cost £100 but required another £100 of work to make it acceptable. It would have been better to buy a £200 bath.

The VP Jacuzzi bath has nozzles that come off when having a bath. They all needed to be glued into place.

The VP shower quadrant cost £75 but came without legs or fascia panel. Victoria plumb wanted to change £58 for the legs! Instead I went to a local plumber's merchant and bought a complete Mira tray, legs and fascia for £100. It was fitted within 1/2 hour perfectly.

At £99 the Bathstore toilets were cheap, but the cisterns didn't have a fixing onto the wall meaning that a child could pull the cistern off the toilet. The plumber had to grind fixing holes into the cistern to make things work. The seat and floor fixings were unique meaning that if anything goes wrong they have to be totally replaced as standard seats can't be fitted.

All in all, all of the stuff didn't have a CE mark and they were probably made in Egypt, Indonesia or somewhere similar. I would point out that buying cheap bathroom goods from the internet is a false economy. In fitting the pieces I then found how their products were made 'down to a price' and that in the end this didn't save me money. I ended up costing me the same amount, but with more hassle.
