I can't understand the last review unless it was some time ago and perhaps they ave changed hands since then but as a person who lives in the area I have been to the restaurant on numerous occasions, the desserts are beautiful with a range from homemade tiramsu to eton mess, banofee pie and more. I would certainly recommend the sunday lunch (beef) and their steak is also delightful. The service was second to none and newly refurbished it is appealing on the inside. It is also not overally... These premises, Macauley's 'Tea House in the Woods are set in delightful woodland and the experience should have been a joy. Unfortunately the place is dreadful. The scones and cakes were frozen in the middle but warm outside, the crockery was stained and the tea tasted stale. On top of that, the chef sat in the garden smoking. This was an embarrassing experience for us as we had taken friends. A waste of a sublime setting. (read more)
