Samsung Jet S8000 smartphone review
29 Jun 2009

Summary
Not quite as lovely as the Gladiator

Pros
Super-fast processor and decent camera; Awesome AMOLED screen and 3.5mm jack

Cons
Sluggish when flicking through album covers or scrolling through pictures; Not as slick as what we were hoping for

Verdict
The Jet is a great little bit of kit with a lot of power under the diminutive hood. We love the styling (although the chassis feels a little cheap) and for a cut-price option to the iPhone, this is a top notch effort

Summary
The Samsung Jet S8000 - is it a budget alternative to the iPhone?

Pros
Great camera ; Lovely screen ; Good battery life ; Nice, responsive touchscreen

Cons
Poor internet browser ; TouchWiz interface lets down decent hardware list ; slightly cheap feel ; laggy interface at times

Verdict
It's got a slightly similar footprint to the Palm Pre in being deceptively small, which means it fit snugly in the hand rather than dominating it in the style of the iPhone 3GS, although it would have been nice to feel a little more weight or strength ...

Summary
Samsung fires the first shot in the mobile processor wars with their new 800Mhz feature phone. Check out our hands-on impressions of the Samsung Jet.

Verdict
Still, with its 800 MHz processor and advanced capabilities, this has got to be the smartest 'dumbphone' on the market. With companies beefing up their mobile processor offerings, we expect to see a new MHz war open up in the mobile phone world soon

Pros
The AMOLED screen sparkles and enriches everything from viewing your photos to watching your movies

15 Jul 2009

Summary
Samsung touts the Jet as the fastest touchscreen phone on the market. While we're not convinced of that claim, the Jet does have plenty of other things going for it, including a gorgeously bright and vivid AMOLED screen, some innovative user-interface ...

Pros
Bright, clear AMOLED screen ; customisable home screen with widgets ; standard headphone jack ; Wi-Fi connectivity ; good photo and video quality ; expandable memory ; innovative one-finger zoom function

Cons
Jerky, confusing user interface ; resistive touchscreen ; average Web browsing speed ; bad keyboard layout ; difficult to transfer media over USB

Verdict
Samsung has been releasing some impressive touchscreen phones recently, from the top-of-the-line i8910 HD to the bargain-basement Tocco Lite. But, due to its unresponsive resistive touchscreen and quirky user interface, the Jet doesn't fulfil its ...

BlackBerry Storm
21 Dec 2008

I'm not one of those daft Motorola fashion mobile users. My last mobile which i love dearly was the Omnia. The Storm is a cheap plastic affair in comparison. I found it impossible to synch with my comp, bluetooth wouldn't pair with anything and my Email accounts would not recieve or send, something the Omnia can do at a touch of its very intuitive screen. The Applications would not download and if they had the 28Mb exclusive apps memory wouldn't have coped.

Think hard about how many features you will use. Free software applications are mostly poor or useless. WinMo best if you need to create rather than just edit Office dox.

Hey i have this nokia 5800 and i think it is alright if you just like music and the touch screen way. this phone does needs working on because it sometimes frezzes, and it becomes frustrating after awhile, the nokia interface is good if you like the symbian format but is a bit too dull. this phone needs better internet web browsing and needs to improve on the double tap you have to do in the menu, is annoying when you are on the go. the phone is a bit to large but i can not complain all up it...

First off let me start by saying ignore all the moaners and wingers on here that complain endlessly about how slow the GPS is and how poor the battery is. They are all splitting hairs. OK, the battery will not last as long as your current phone but remember gone are the days when SMS messages were state of the art and your phone could go a week without a charge. Remember what you are asking this phone to do: GPS, 5 megapixel camera with an enormous screen, wi-fi, mp3's, video, the list is...

it is realy classy and tres cheque, easy to use , touch screen can be by finger or stylus , the only negative thing is the camera , the video is very bad to be recorded, and the camera need enough light to capture a fair photo, if not enough light the picture soooooo bad and there is no auto correct .
