I have fished at Derwent Reservoir, Northumbrian Water for a number of years now and have never been dissapointed. Yes I have had fishless days but very few. Generally I have good quality fish at varying weights of up to 12.5 lb. Bag limits are good (8 and 12 fish) and there are family ticket combinations available. Pricing is good especially when you take in to account the bag limit. I have recently arranged two fishing days at the reservoir for a local school fishing club. One being a fly fishing tuition day and the other a fly fishing tuition day. Both days went brilliantly with the students who were at different levels of competency learning and using all the techniques shown. The staff are always ready to help and when teaching are so adept. Even an "old un" like me learned a lot. The fishing lodge has good facilities and a tackle shop where everything you may need or have left at home as we often do, is available for purchase. The reservoir itself is clean and pleasant and has so many different locations for differing types of fishing. Disabled access to the popular points is excellent but by the very nature of a big water and its terrain there are some points where access is restricted. It is worth going there just for a pleasant walk and scenic views which many people often do along the well maintained footways to the picnic areas. All of these are closed and locked at the end of the day. All in all a brilliant day for all levels of fishermen and all ages.
