The Shakespeare Trion Royalty spin is a light, two section rod. The rod I used was the 2.7mtr (9ft) version with a 10-40grm casting weight range. The rod is supplied in a lightweight bag and is green in colour. It has full cork grips with a metal lined plastic reel fitting. The rings (6 including the tip ring) are all lined with a three leg mounting. The rod has a good finish and has a folding retaining loop for the lure hooks. Ideal when in transit between fishing spots. In use the rod is light and easy to handle. It casts very well throughout its weight range but can be a little stiff when casting lures at the lower end of its casting weight. It is easy to use and direct making the placing of lures in difficult swims a doddle. That aside the rod has plenty of feel when fishing detecting and responding to every bite. The rod has a progressive power surge and is not soft, but not to the extent that it is inflexible. Given its price it is an ideal all rounder and a rod I will continue to use.
