“overall poor park”

★★☆☆☆

written by Dillonzo on 16/08/2015

Arrived at the park on a Monday, staying mon-fri. Reception staff ok on arrival, found our Bronze plus caravan, not very clean dirty floors our boys socks were black in no time. Ate at the clubhouse that night food nice and staff too, particularly bar staff, it was quite noisy in there but ok. we ate out for the remainder of our stay at the boathouse on the sea front, excellent staff and food great views too. Noticed that day there was a smallish damp patch between the shower and bedroom had increased a lot in size by the next day also the loo was leaking, went to reception and a maintenance man was there within 10mins, said they had sealed this that morning and went to go, I said the wet patch was getting worse and could he look at the toilet, the wetness was also seeping into our wardrobe floor and we weren't sure if it was just the shower or sewage water too. He fixed the loo and did something to the shower. Next day the same more wet asked reception to move us as they were fully booked so they couldn't and receptionist an older blonde woman was very brusque and not very bothered. My husband went back to ask re their sister site had any spaces but she said no, he asked to see the manager  and was told she wasn't there but after about 5 mins she came out to speak!!!! So was lied to. Said not much else and gave him head office number, the next day we had to call maintenance again and man said he didn't know what the problem was apart from being the pipes underneath and left! Came back that afternoon and shower had been left on although we switched it off when we left and shower door wide open making a huge flood called maintenance again and he was going to ask if anyone had been in?? Never heard anything but 3 floor mats had been placed there to cover damp up! Very poor service from staff and management although the maintenance guys tried their best but no cleaning up was done. Will not be returning. The area itself is lovely and beach and facilities are great. A disappointing holiday for ourselves and our boys. Management do not seem to be bothered.

“weekend ruined”

★☆☆☆☆

written by juGuzman157 on 15/06/2015

Well where can I start as 4 adults we was put right outside the under 5' play area, which would have been alright apart for parents sending there kids out with a football at 7.00 am kids flying up and down the balcony with skateboards and banging, I have 3 children of my own and would not allow that. I went to reception and asked to be moved anywhere i was told that my reason was not good enough. The accommodation was grubby with dirt on walls and a toilet door that was hanging by an hinge but that was not the main problem. If you want a great holiday avoid this park I promise you will be disappointed, very outdated. Try the park called the mile lady looks great.....!!!!

Stayed for a weeks holiday at Dawlish Sands and was really good park, staff very helpful and friendly,Accommodation was really good was very clean. And lots of things to do at park or you can just walk to the beach. The Entertainment was really good,we have a handicap son so it was good because all staff chatted to him which he was happy about as most people just snub him.As he is Downs but not once did he feel upset. He wants to go back there for another holiday very soon.which we are looking at doing soon.

“good holiday”

clean site small and compact good entertainment meals available to purchase in club good value and well cooked bingo tickets expensive was told by entertainments manager, when I asked about the adult talent competition, that if I was the only person entering it that the free holiday return would not be given as a p rize, so I did not enter it, only to find out the next morning that, one person did enter it and received te return weekend, was not impressed as I found it a big 'put off'

“The Chalet Bronze Nightmare”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Treebeard16 on 12/08/2013

We stayed in the Bronze Chalet that is to sleep 4 there was two bedrooms but one small wardrobe in only one room in the second bedroom was 1 small cabinet with 3 draws that was for 4 people clothes for one week 2 people had to live out of there suit cases. It gets better we had one settee that seat 2 between us plus a table with 4 rickety chairs. Its gets even better there was no frying pan, 2 saucepans just enough crockery and knives, forks, spoons and one very small roasting tray not even big enough for a chicken. Also we had with us 2 dogs paid an outrages £80 for both there wasn't even a dog dish. It was like going back to the 1960's then it would be acceptable but today no way. The chalet was really only big enough for 2 people. We complain to the senior site rep.and she was surly and rude and told us to complained to the Call Centre a case of passing the buck. The bar had run out of most of the Beer and drinks stock the manager was at the case and carry getting stock. The shop had no toilet Rolls and was poorly stocked of most goods. Our whole holiday could have been ruined by this if it wasn't for the wonderful places around in south Devon I would not recommend this site if you are bringing a Dog or Staying in the Bronze Chalets. I think the wording for Bronze Chalet would be better rate by BELOW BASIC. The site had not even have spare frying pan for us one sad joke.

“Excellent Holiday”

★★★★★

written by on 26/06/2013

My family and I went with the expectation of a decent holiday with not much more after reading relevant reveiws, however the people were friendly the play area and indoor pool was better then expected. The entertainment was fun and the kids loved every minute. The caravan was the same as you find at most parks. It's the first time we have taken our dog and she wasn't any trouble with plenty of places to walk her. The take away in the complex is a good idea and we will certainly be going back for another long weekend. Thank You to all the the Park Bates Family (Cornwall)

“Only break away this year and it was ruined!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/06/2012

A three day break that we cut short to two days because of the tired and scruffy site- pleasant enough staff and the entertainment team tried hard in a clubhouse that needs to be knocked down and rebuilt to be fit for purpose. The painted wood chip wallpaper would have looked dated in the 1980's and the carpet and fittings were in a similar condition. There was rubbish laying around on the grass verges including plastic bags in a muddy pile that had obviously been there for a few days just feet away fom our caravan. We had to ask to swap accommodation after one night as the first caravan had mildew in the shower, thick cobwebs in the skylight, ripped wallpaper and a rusted and twisted set of steps a the door. It was shabby and unpleasant. It was only because staff swapped us to another van that we decided to stay one more night rather than waste the 5 hour drive we had made fom Surrey. Very disappointed as it spoilt our holiday and we wasted our money.

“Following a recent stay at the Dawlish Sands Holiday...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/07/2009

Following a recent stay at the Dawlish Sands Holiday Park during May 2009 I would like to inform any person saying there what I found in our so called 8 berth 'Silver Plus' caravan.

The lights in the main circulation area consisted of one light with none of the others working at all, rectified 3 days after complaint.
Electric kettle with defective switch.
Portable appliance testing labels not on various items of electrical equipment including the defective kettle so I assume no testing carried out.
Dining table would only sit 4 for an 8 berth.
Double mattress threadbare, worn and dirty, springs were only covered by mattress lining as all padding had long disappeared.
Bedding dirty and old.
Insuficent crockery.
Seating and carpets dirty, stained, old and dingy.
Curtains did not meet in the middle.
Blind would not adjust, broken.
Shelving trims, some missing allowing bare MDF to show through.
Bathroom cupboard door missing.
Stools unstable resulting in children and adults overbalancing on them.
Shower drain blocked, cleared it myself, terrible smell from the drains.
Gas boiler gave insufficent hot water.
No toaster, received one on the 3rd day of arrival.
Waste bin suitable for 2 people but not 8, constantly overflowing.
Wad of chewing gum found stuck beneath food preparation area, not cleaned.
Caravan door locks on both doors not working correctly giving rise to concerns over the operation in case of a fire in the caravan, would they open or not?
Power points in the childrens bedroom at waist height with no blanks in to prevent inquisitive children poking their fingers or other foreign objects in.
Handle of the bedroom window came off with the window locked and unable to open.

For the money charged we expected a caravan fit for use, clean and in good order but actually received a sub standard caravan with the attitude of 'we have your money now take it or leave it'. I will never take my family to Dawlish Sands Holiday Park again nor any other venues run by Park Holidays.
