    Good Points: Cheaply priced
    Quite powerful when playing fish
    relativly easy to use
supplied with bag and a quality travel tube

    Bad Points: Limited supply outlets
    quality of whippings
    quality of rings
    quality of cork handle

General comments: As a first fly rod and for its price the Spring Creek seemed unbeatble costing a fraction of the price of its rivals. It was only after a period of use that its shortfalls began to show. Not with its action as the rod was a pleasure to use and was quite forgiving of any mistakes. However it is the quality of its finnish and some materials that have let it down. After only 9 months of moderate use the cork handle has begun to degrade with bits breaking off. The tip ring has lost its chrome protective covering down to the metal underneath which will create more wear on the fly line through friction. The biggest problem is of the whippings round the section joints. The cenral whipping on my rod failed resulting in an ominous crack and the rod lying at a funny angle. This is easily resolved by having the center section replaced however the rod is unusable until ths is done. A good rod for beginners and light use however as a lon term prospect I have my doubts.
