I'm confused by the review before mine. I rented a sweet Mustang convertible for the whole week and only cost me $600. Sure I had to put a $1,000 deposit but that's pretty much a standard with any premium or luxory car rental. They told me all this in advance over the phone before I even landed in Toronto. I rented a car from Zoom Rent A Car for 3 days with a $500 deposit which i was not happy with to start with. An indivudual checked the car out, and wasn't going to put a few scratches on the report which he rubbed and said that will come off. I told him to write it on the report anyway so we didn't have any problems. After renting a vehicle that was inspected in the dark on the side of a road (Zoom driver brought van to location) late night and a mild inspection done in the dark. I decided next morning to inspect in the light and do my own walk around again because we could not see the Van in complete darkness the night. Zoom Rentals passes on company expenses (car maintenance) to customers, horrible customer service and antagonistic attitude towards customer. This company is a sham! After booking with Zoom Rent-a-Car through carrentals.com I quickly found why why they are cheaper than the bigger companies. You get what you pay for. The moment you show up there you are greeted with hidden fee signs and they ask for an insurance card. The clerk there told me that my insurance was unacceptable even though I have full comprehensive and liability insurance with rental car coverage. Brutal experience renting from Zoom. Upon arriving to pick up our car, we were informed our insurance was 'not valid'. Huh? We needed to provide a 'proof of insurance certificate' from our insurance agent -- OR -- pay for Zooms extra liability insurance. Have rented about 20 cars previously -- NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. Terrible! Do not hire from Zoom Rent a Car!! Prompt shuttle service! Its a lie! Took them 1 hour to pick us up. We were lucky, I was talking to one guy who had 5 kids, he had to leave 2 at the airport because zoom came to collect them in a 4 seater car! We eventually got to the office where we were ignored then rudely told to wait. Waited 30 minutes for someone to see us then we are told of all the add ons. Too far from the airport. Pick up van had very high reach with no step or arm offered. Extra, unexplained charges. Not open at 7:30 a.m. Had to pay for ur own transportation to the airport. When called them about it, were rude and unwilling to listen. Will never use them again!!!! (read more)

MIKE SAHOTA AND HIS STAFF IN PARTICULAR JAVI WHO IS EMPLOYED THERE ARE THIEFS AND LIARS. I RENTED A CAR THERE AND UPON RETURN JAVI WOULDNT EVEN INSPECT THE CAR TILL I ARGUED WITH HIM. Zoom car rental are a total scam we rented a van before we rented the van we told the employee that gave the car that there is a tenth mm scratche in the rear bumper he looked and said don't worry about it you can't even see it, well when we brought back the van, the other employe had different thoughts and would not accept that was from before, I then began to realize that it's a scam any way once I left and flew back overseas, I received a charge of $700 for repairers, any way i am going to report them to the police for scamming visters , the location is the one

Their service is terrible. We booked a car in Denver for 5 days and when we got to the rental station there was no company with the name Zoom. So we immediately called the customer service number and they were not reachable. So we had to check with the ground transportation at the airport and they were like they have never heard the name of this company and the gentleman tried calling their customer service again but no response and then he looked it up online to see that they work in affiliation with Budget, Hertz etc so we went around all the counters to inquire if they had a reservation with our number. And after 30 mins of running around all the rental cos. Finally Budget confirmed our car. We booked our car 20 days in advance and gave them a call a day before leaving to confirm our reservation and no one bothered to inform us. Please do not rent from them unless while booking you can check with them which rental company will have your car.

It is funny to see many of their employees logging into these sites and writing a positive experience. I see this guy (name removed) posing as DJKNL and writing reviews in trip advisor. You have mentioned here that you were told that they dont care about reviews. Then, why do their employees go out and counter arguments.
Definitely these guys are so rude, but I think only to men. I saw him (name removed) going head over heals for a lady renting the car. It is pathetic to see a company run that way discriminating customers. I am surprised how BBB even gave them a rating..

I was not able to have my money back. They do not answer my calls . They got the money so the don't care. I am still paying for the c.card and I cannot take my daughter out coz I have no money. I am a student and does not work. The people working there write good comments on the website to fool people.

I rented from them 2 years ago and had terrible experience. They wanted to charge me extra for taking car insurance even when i was showing them my international insurance card from Geico that already had a decent coverage. I even called Geico from their place and had them talk to those crooks to explain that Geico Insurance from US covers cars rented in Canada. Thieves, crooks can be part of description for this company. There hidden policies, make you to pay extra ordinary price for their below standard cars. There agents intentionally to cheat will not reveal you any details. Check the car you get thorughly bcoz they will give you car with some damage and later on claim more money from you. CUSTOMER BEWARE!!! At the time, this was a pretty good deal. Got hotel shuttle from Toronto airport, got a really nice car from Zoom. When I got back home a fraudulent charge of over $2000.00 appeared on my statement. Zoom rental car was the ONLY charge I put on that card while in Toronto. Obviously, someone in their office took down all my info and had a great time shopping!!!! Had this fraud not occurred, I would have given Zoom a much better rating. (read more)

You should contact Zooms Manager and report this rather then writing a review credit card # could be stolen many places many ways and could get used any where. You mentioned you would have given Zoom better Rating if this didn't occur means you had a good experience i hope. I am a customer of Zoom for a long time they are like a family and i agree you should write a review this is not something for public. Also without a proof you shouldn't write such a harsh review if you are sure then report this to police.

I followed up with the fraud department of my credit card as well as letting the manager at Zoom know. I'm 100% sure the fraud was from the Zoom office as it was the only place I used that credit card at.
I didn't get any apology or any follow-up from the Zoom management.

We paid an extra $50 for after hours to be picked up by Zoom. I called as soon as we arrived in Toronto. I said we would be there for pick up in about ten minutes. They then gave me very vague directions to get to Viscount shuttle pick up, so vague that we had to ask numerous people what they were talking about. Will never rent from Zoom again. Misleading information, rental is not at the Pearson Int'l Airport,as indicated on website, and extremely inconvenient depending on where you are travelling to. Rented a mid-size, got a compact, dirty car, filthy on outside, garbage inside from last renter. i am a dj and needed a minivan so i just googled cheap caar rentals and that's how i found these guys.....no dought they had the best price, so i called before putting my credit card info.....and the guy on the other end made it ever easier by confirming the reservation on the phone, he did mention the underage charge, i was shocked to hear that they only charge $15 where as other companies charge $25. I had initially had a dispute with the Zoom Rent a Car staff upon returning the vehicle, but it was resolved amicably.
Good value for the money, fast service - they even gave me a ride from home to the rental facility - but be careful about the vehicle markings and parts missing, do check it before signing.
