Good Points: Integrated scope rail which covers the entire top side of the action.Decreased cocking effort compared to the P5 Mag.Ambidextrous grips and safety.Increased power compared to the P5 Mag.Ease of servicing. The only plastic found on the gun are the grips.

Bad Points: The trigger is a step backwards from that found on the P5.No thread locker used on the muzzle weight or barrel pivot.

General comments: The Diana LP8 Magnum is intended to replace their P5 Magnum model in the magnum spring pistol market. Although the LP8 is the same length as the P5, it is 5 oz. heavier. This is due mainly to the addition of an aluminum frame that surrounds the action. This frame not only alters the appearance of the P5 Mag. innards, it also permits the full length 11mm scope rail which is perfect for mounting a red dot sight. Having run 2 tins of pellets through mine, I have found it to be far more accurate than any spring pistol I own. Due to the weight and grip design, the recoil has little effect on accuracy and being able to install optics capitalizes on this strength. Since this gun is the replacement for the P5 Magnum, I will offer a comparison between the two in velocity...P5 Super H Point 527fps 4.2fpe., Super Dome 456fps 3.8fpe, Crosman Silver Eagle 664fps 4.8fpeLP8 Super H Point 602fps 5.5fpe., Super Dome 500fps 4.6fpe, Crosman Silver Eagle 714fps 5.5fpeThe only complaint I have is that the trigger is not as adjustable or smooth as that found on the P5 Mag.It is not bad, it is simply not that good. It will not effect your accuracy and can be improved with a little tuning but out of the box, it is lacking compared to other pistols in this niche. All in all I must say that the LP8 is a good investment if you like the looks of it. It's power puts it squarely in the magnum category and makes it one of the strongest spring pistols available. Power without accuracy is meaningless but this gun is proficient at both. Mine has already claimed two squirrels within 15 yards and repeatedly hits 2 inch spinners at 35 yards. Just keep in mind that the weight of this gun makes it suitable for adults only.
