Good Points: A great machine for the money and it does the job very well. Easy to transport around the home. It also has a remote control.

Bad Points: Some may say that it is a little noisy, but I cannot complain really. I feel that the main factor in all of this is to reduce the temperature of your room as efficiently and as cheaply as possible. This machine does all of that!

General comments: As this is supposed to be a very 'long hot summer' I invested in the Homebase Portable Air Conditioner Silver & Black 9000BTU .Model 614151. You can get this model for around £99 at the moment (RRP £199.99) and at that price it is a 'steal'...it really is.Before I bought this machine I did quite a bit of homework on efficiency, running costs and portability etc. I chose this machine because as they say these days 'it ticks the right boxes'. It is also a great size for the power that it packs. It only measures about 30cm wide, 38cm deep and 75cm high. It is also on wheels for easy movement. There is a very handy and sturdy handle on the top for moving it around the house. The weight is not too bad either, it comes in at 21.8kg. It has a very good energy efficiency ratio of 2.88 which is the best rating of all the Homebase models. It is also the quietest of all their range too.The energy efficiency rating is A so you cannot get any better than that. Power consumption is 815 watts maximum. Its annual electricity consumption in KW/hour is 410 which is very good. This model is designed for optimum use in a room of around 20 m2 so should be ok for most average rooms. You must ensure that the exhaust hose goes through a window or suitable vent to ensure that all the stale hot air escapes safely. It will cool a room down to 18c which really is cool enough, any cooler and it feels a bit 'polar'. There are 2 fan settings and a very handy 'auto' setting where you can set the temperature that you want your room to be. It also has a 1 to 12 hour timer so that it can be set to go on or off at a time to suit you.
