I has planned to buy a low end Honda mower, but phoned for advice and was recommended a Hayter. Delivery was prompt, but unfortunately the mower broke down within a month. Wish I'd bought the Honda. That left me having to grovel at a local mower dealer to get them to repair it under warranty - it took 2 months and I had no mower all summer. Mowers are too temperamental to buy online - buy local and get some local comeback. Lawnmowers Direct didn't do enough to help me sort the problem out. (read more)

In my opinion, this is a worthy successor to my previous Harrier 48, which I have had for about 15 years. The new one starts easily & cuts well, and I am pleased with my purchase, however the adverts do not make it clear that the engine runs at constant speed (no throttle) & the ground speed can be varied in steps. Five days later, no communication from the company, so I called - told that the product in fact wasn't in stock, and wasn't expected to be in stock until the following week. Excellent response to my order and phone questions. But I think the warranty should be stated on the invoice - the only reference I saw to the 2-year warranty was on the website. I bought it to replace my old 12-inch petrol mower which was getting hard to start in cool weather, heavy to manoeuvre around curved edges and using a lot of petrol.
