FSD were recommended by our builder who said they had a reasonable, 'mid-range' product with good service. Everything was going very well with our door order and I was genuinely impressed with the quality of the service. Until there were problems. You really need amazing service when there are problems with your order. And this is where FSD fail. Epically. The doors were sent out with the wrong screws. This meant that the external door plate couldn't be attached and the door couldn't be... (read more)

Sunday afternoon with guests round, one tried to open the doors using the wrong handle, designed for pulling, not twisting - result: embarrassing breakage. Ring company on Monday morning to see if handle can be replaced - very helpful lady discusses the part (fitted 6 years ago), checks our original purchase details, says she'll confirm the actual part before sending one in the post. Wednesday morning, correct part arrives, and is fitted easily in 15 mins, bringing the doors back to normal... (read more)

From the initial response by their staff, and a detailed discussion with [name removed], we knew we need look no further. We took the opportunity to visit their showroom in Bradford which reinforced our decision to use this company They offered a complete one stop shop surveying and installation, always efficient and delivered on every promise Install date came and the weather was terrible which was an initial worry - slowed them down a little but the job was complete to a superb... What can I say,we searched the Internet looking for a company who could offer the supply and installation we chose the Folding Sliding door company because the website was informative and detailed clearly the doors we required we were torn between timber and PVC but eventually after technical discussion with the sales guys we opted for Aluminium with a grey metallic finish. The installation was carried out by the company and to date the doors have given us great pleasure whether open or... (read more)

Very disappointing product. Bifold doors had barely been installed when the rubber seal from the top and the fabric seal at the bottom came away from the doors. The company grudging sent someone to fix the top seal but the fitter was unaware of the other problem. I was sent the fabric seal a few days later by post, supposedly to fit myself. This I have no idea how to do. upon telephoning the company I am told that the doors will be repaired when 'they have someone in my area'. In such... (read more)

Simple and straight to the point - I LOVE these doors! I bought the aluminium with the timber cover inside and am so glad I spent the extra money - they look lovely and all my friends are very jealous! Keep up the good work - I cant praise them enough All I need to do now is get hubby to finish the garden so I have something other than a building site to look out of them at! (read more)

I bought 2 x 5 panel folding sliding doors from this company as I was on a budget and they were cheap. Never has the expression 'buy cheap, buy twice' been so apt. They are a shockingly poor quality product, which is only made even worse by the company's complete lack of willingness to put things right. I have been left with a very expensive problem, and they just wash their hands of it. Don't think their guarantee will save you either, it's bit worth the paper it's written on! My advice is... We love our 3m high sliding folding doors, glad we had them come and look at the job before we ordered - they felt we were planning to have the doors opening the wrong way round, explained why, and boy were they right - saved us a costly / annoying mistake - nothing beats experience! Fitting guys were brilliant, we weren't quite ready on time, but had a huge hole in the side of our house in the middle of winter - fitter said he would fit us in as soon as we were ready, true to his word 2... Julia at FSD is my new best friend. She was so good at the investigation, exploration and commissioning stage that even if I telephone her now she would remember our order. It was slightly different - it was a four door installation destined for France. I installed them myself - no problems and I am delighted. Delivery was on time and I would certainly recommend the prodect. (read more)

Excellent service from start to finish from the initial enquiry through to installation we couldn't fault this companies service. Knowledgeable sales consultant and quality product our 6 panel doors are effortlessly smooth as stated in their sales literature. We required doors to suit our new rear extension and couldn't initially decide between the large Herman sliding doors or FSD's but after discussions with the sales staff at The folding sliding door company we took on board their expert... I did some extensive research into this company before I approached them, and read the reviews - good and bad - with a pinch of salt. I found them to be very friendly and helpful and extremely knowledgable about their product and the industry in general. The space we needed the doors for was relatively small and I was a bit worried that folding doors would look a bit silly, but they duly arrived, and were fitted by their recommended installers, who were great - they left the place really... I was a bit hesitant about ordering these given mixed reviews on this site. However, there are very positive reviews on HomePro (which is the insurance company used for their warranty... all customers are asked to rate the company when fillign in their installation form) and the info on FSD's website about the quality of the doors seemed quite compelling. Also the sales staff were very knowledgable and helpful (though of course one has to take a sales pitch with a pinch of salt). I had... (read more)

Terrible experience.
The sales rep told me the door would look one way (and I even did a drawing for her which she confirmed in an email) and after it had been installed by my builder it looks totally different.
They now don't want to take any responsibility for their mistake, are avopiding my calls, and my only option is to take legal action.
I would stringly recommend against using this company.

Hi,
I would like to know too if this is the www.1stslidingfoldingdoors.co.uk company. Their products do look very good and the price we were quoted was quite good too.
Thanks in advance to anybody out there who knows!

Inthe process of having a 3 panel door from FSD fitted. Everything O up to now although delivery too much longer than I was told. Problem we are having is that the door was qouted as being 2440mm wide and so the builder has constructed the opening to suit with a 5mm gap for adjustment. This is all in natural stone so can't be changed.
Now it seems that the width measurement is taken from the sill and not the frame uprights which are each inset 15mm - so that's a 15mm gap up each side which...

They are cheap (if you get them non finished/installed) but the customer service is non existent and will drive you mad. My builders made a cock up of the installation requiring that I get someone to rectify the problem. Their installers are insanely overpriced (£250 just to come and look) and after three attempts I gave up trying to get them in (never turned up). Now with a local guy and it has taken me over a month to source some new hinges, they rarely answer the phone and always send the... (read more)

I do not think £250 for a visit is unreasonable. support not good, if you buy un finished and DIY what do you expect.
I have bought doors twice now, 1st 5 years ago in aluminium and installed and they were fine and now 2 sets in timber finish, both went in perfectly apart from a broken shoot bolt which they replaced by post in 2 days.
The only really annoying thing is that we are struggling to scrape the stickers off the glass completely.......

Reading a few negative reviews spurs me to write in support of Folding Sliding Door Company & their product, even two years after fitting.
We were looking at fixed glazed panel either side of twin hinged doors for our 3.5m gap into the garden, when we saw a folding sliding door system on Grand Designs (or similar). We reckoned the cost would be over the top but, after some research and a very helpful saleman (Subash) over the 'phone, the price was only a little more than we'd planned.

Ordered a set of doors from the FSD company and on their advice had the flush track with no cill and FSDI to fit them. The doors seem fine if a little difficult to close, but otherwise I was pleased with them. Fitters left one hell of a mess and doors which were not sealed properly, and the customer service was shocking. Having seen the job they did for the money I'd suggest hiring a different company for fitting, or getting the builder to do it, anyone who can use a spirit level could fit... (read more)

I bought a made to measure six panel (3 & 3) folding sliding door in oak last year. Had it installed by a guy who installs them all the time (not my main builders), after a few weeks he even came back to adjust them at no extra charge (they had settled a bit as it's quite a wide span, and had become difficult to close). Very happy with them, been using as the back door constantly every day. They seal well and the room is surprisingly warm in winter despite all the glass.
I'd advise you to...

I thought i would share my experience as sites like these only ever seem to generate negative comments.
We brought our 3 panel timber folding sliding door from the above named company in Bradford and have only a pleasant story to tell. The door was fairly priced as we made a point of avoiding cheap versions with "ugly" looking frames, and opted for a decent quality product at a reasonable price. The door came on time and was fitted the next day by the recommended fitting company. They had...

Bought 3 panel doors as a kit and had the builder and his double glazing/patio door fitter assemble and fit them. Absolute nightmare. Doors leak and don't slide properly - builder says he will never fit them again. I Paid £275 for a diagnostic report (1 hour visit) but all I got was criticism of the fitter and no report.
If you decide to go for these doors (or any similar), make sure you pay the extra for specialist fitters otherwise you will always be plagued by problems - they are much...

The Folding Sliding Door Company. After visiting the showroom we ordered a 3 door configuration in oak with just a clear varnish finish. (this was the most expensive option)I am not a builder but I measured and ordered the doors myself. The doors arrived spot on time and were fitted by my builder the next day. I was concerned that one of the rubber seals was a bit out of shape so I rang the company and 2 arrived in the post the next day. That's what I call service. I am retired but have been... (read more)
