“Children's fish pie contains 6% fish !!!!!”

Written on: 07/03/2016 by Maxwell132 (1 review written)

How can a fish pie contain 6% fish???? This is just mash potato with a couple of tiny bits of vegetable thrown in. I'm sorry but home cooked or not this is complete rubbish. You cannot serve children such unhealthy food… Read Full Review

“what a load of rubbish”

Written on: 24/02/2016 by nonatthepubinthevillage (1 review written)

Don't bother wasting your money on the Cottage Pie, it is all potato and hardly any meat. For £7 for a meal to feed 2 I wish I'd just done my own, but felt like a day off cooking. Very disappointing and has put me off the whole range… Read Full Review

“Cook Customer Service ”

Written on: 17/02/2016 by Josephinespot (2 reviews written)

I have used Cook for several months. I like the food - I mainly order curries and also their Coq au Vin is very good - but am always thirsty afterwards so assume high salt content. However, their customer service is appalling. In the autumn I put in a big order as I have a couple of freezers and it is easier to order everything at once. I have a busy life and when I book a time slot it is important that the company delivers within that time slot, not earlier or later. So I booked an early… Read Full Review

“Sugar in everything”

Written on: 08/02/2016 by MeredithMcHugh (1 review written)

Reading the ingredients for various dishes, it seems that sugar has been added to absolutely everything. No thanks ! I'll not be shopping here. And the staff in my local branch are really pushy, trying at all costs to talk you into buying something… Read Full Review

“Disappointed with some of this order.”

Written on: 19/01/2016 by AnnieP2 (1 review written)

We have been using Cook for many years for our annual get-together to make our holiday arrival night as easy as possible and have always previously been very pleased with the dishes. However, this year a few of us were disappointed with our choices, in particular, the Sausage Casserole had very little sausage in it and as a good cook myself, the Beef Stroganoff was not up to expectations. Also, the Shepherds Pie was not very good, eg for a 2 portion serving it did not look very much on the… Read Full Review

“Aweful”

Written on: 19/01/2016

I have tried Cook several times. Don't bother. Small portions, tastes awful, meat is terrible. Just had a chicken tikka masala curry. Chicken tough as hell. Tried a lasagne a while ago. Dry as hell, hardly any meat.... How they exist at all, when you can go to Waitrose, M&S or Sainsbury's and get superior ready made meals, that taste great and for less money!! Absolutely diabolical. They should be shut down. Will never buy again… Read Full Review

“Just brilliant!”

Written on: 13/01/2016 by Redrach12 (1 review written)

I ordered a special meal for 10 people for a family celebration (ages ranging from 20 to 80) last weekend. The food was delivered to a rented holiday home and the Taunton suppliers of cookfood.net liaised directly with the holiday home owners for delivery so I didn't have to worry. Everything was ready in the freezer when I arrived. The food was all, just fantastic. We had the salmon terrine which was so wonderfully tasty, lovely soft mouse and plenty of smoked salmon on top. Then the… Read Full Review

“Lime & Pistachio Cheesecake”

Written on: 20/11/2015 by Woodridge (1 review written)

Why does one go to Cook? To purchase home made food that even with a glint in your eye you can pass off as your own -accept time doesn't allow. Oh the shame, the embarrassment to serve this sickly muck as one of your own. Home cooked, home flavoured, created with home flair. If only! What Cook presents is ready made tasting meals, over loaded with sugar, lacking in any subtlety and over priced. I've often wonder why every time I go into a Cook shop, it is empty, well now after trying… Read Full Review

“Appalling”

Written on: 20/10/2015 by fillyfillyme (4 reviews written)

I bought a moussaka as I had family coming over and was very short of time. It was awful. The meat was terrible - very little and what there was looked very poor quality. Very little vegetable and overall extremely disappointing. I would recommend Waitrose own or even Mr Tesco. Both are far better quality and cost less. I also bought a chicken Alexander to keep in the freezer but have not tried it yet. I just hope it is better than the moussaka… Read Full Review

Two years ago I lost my husband and I thought I would never eat good food again as I don't like cooking for myself then I found this company and I have to say the food is great, the pies taste just like homemade and to have them with potatoes and veg after a day at work they are great. … Read Full Review

“Very Average”

Written on: 08/09/2015 by Londongirl2015 (1 review written)

We decided to try some Thai ready meals as a healthier alternative to takeaway. Pretty pricey - £15 for one main and two small sides. We aren't fussy eaters but the chicken was fatty in the red Thai curry. The pad Thai tasted like it had cheap chow main sauce in it. Rice was dry and tasteless. Also got a dessert of lemon cheesecake which tasted more like cheese than lemon - rank. Was also surprised to lots of chemicals in the food. Disappointed. It isn't easy to make good food even if… Read Full Review

“FIRST TIME BUYER DELICIOUS”

On holiday and wanted something tasty but with no effort for dinner. Spotted the Cook shop in Woodbridge and thought we would give it a try. Bought chicken Catalan, minted couscous and Apple and cinnamon crumbles for afters. We are both fond of good food and were definitely not disappointed. It was all delicious and the puddings were 'to die for'. Will definitely be buying again from our local stockists!… Read Full Review

“Chinese £10 deal”

Written on: 08/05/2015 by sinclair111 (1 review written)

purchased a £10 Chinese meal deal ie Takeway for 2. Chinese sweet Chilli and Garlic Prawns/Sesame Szechauan Prawns/Soy Noodles. The prawns in the Chilli and Garlic was great....however I did feel that the sauce it was in was rather too strong ie too much Tai fish Sauce (?) which was rather overpowering. The other two dishes were very good and the prawns over both dishes were excellent and kept their shape and taste and texture. Last gripe....why so much sugar in the Sweet Chilli and… Read Full Review

“Read the ingredient list carefully!”

Written on: 25/04/2015 by DontTrustTheMarketing (1 review written)

Their advertising says "cook like you do at home". Well I can safely say my kitchen doesn't contain any of: Maltodextrin, Emulsifiers Mono- and Diacetyltartaric Acid Esters of Mono- and Diglycerides, Sodium Stearoyl-2-Lactylate, Mono- and Diglycerides of Fatty Acids, Rapeseed Oil, Preservatives Calcium Propionate or Pomace Olive Oil, all of which were found in my nut roast. (In case you're wondering, Pomace olive oil is oil that is chemically extracted from the leftover bits of grape/skin… Read Full Review

Have you ever considered the preservatives listed above are actually in the sub-ingredients of the product?

Donttrustthemarketing's reply to Nevis2016's Comment

Written on: 14/01/2016

Yes of course I know many of them are in the sub-ingredients, but I don't see what difference that makes to someone eating the product. It seems deceitful to me to say you don't "add" preservatives etc, yet to sell a product that contains them, when it IS possible to acquire all the relevant sub-ingredients without all these "nasties".
