Cook was recommended to me by two families. At first I thought I had selected badly and I went back a number of times over christmas - to date. I have 3 children and a new baby and this seemed such an easy option for entertaining. Everything I bought ended in poor feedback. The kids didn't like the food including the puddings !! Adults politely left plates half full. Even at my busiest I could have made better food myself but I thought I was getting everybody a treat of good food. I tried most… Read Full Review

We have had a number of meals now from Cook. The taste and quality has been delicious but the portion sizes are extremely stingy. The last meal we had, which was a beef, mushroom & brandy sauce dish, was mainly made up of sauce. I actually thought they'd forgotten to add the meat! I searched through with my spoon and found just a few pieces. There weren't even many mushrooms. It's a shame because the quality and taste is really good but I just don't think this is good value for money… Read Full Review

For the Christmas period 2013 I spent nearly £150.00 on Cook Shop meals as I had several guests who are vegetarian or who like variety. Without exception the meals were a great disappointment. The beef bourguignon had little meat. The salmon gratin was tasteless and had an excess of uncooked potato slices - despite giving the dish an extended cooking time. The souffles came with an amusingly phrased disclaimer and certainly needed it. The biggest disaster of all was the vegetarian dish in filo… Read Full Review

I thought I'd give Cook a go after getting back from holiday really tired and longing for a prawn curry. I was sold the Malaysian prawn curry and also the lime and coconut rice to go with it. The curry is very over salted (I generally add salt to food so I'm not shy of a bit of seasoning!). The curry had no heat to it and needed more lime. It was horrible, which is a shame… Read Full Review

Bought Cookfood.net Lamb Casserole with Minted New Potatoes in local Garden Centre. Totally disappointed, potatoes not prepared (one sprouting) lamb (bearable) swimming in thin gravy? Whole meal sadly lacking in taste, total waste of money as ended up in bin… Read Full Review

Depressingly predictable! Super heated, seductive marketing....Reality of product an utter, total let down (as usual) Harriet van Horne quote on packet ' cooking is like love....' could be flagged up as cullinary misrepresentation of the year! Be warned… Read Full Review

I found this meal absolutely awful. The 'Top Rump Steak' was stringy and there was only two very small pieces. The smoked bacon I could not find, the bulk of this so called meal was caremelised shallots, onions and garlic. A truly disgusting meal that ought to be prosecuted under the trade description act… Read Full Review

Have not bought this for about 6 months. Not as good as it used to be.Too much tomato ,not as much meat hardly any bechamel sauce. If you have changed the recipe to keep cost down, not a good move. I used to recommend this to friends and would serve it to them ...it was always a success.Don't think I will be buying it again, will have to go back to making it myself . What a faff!… Read Full Review

I don't like cooking, so these ready meals are great for me.I especially like the Hearty Fisherman's Pie, the Liver, Bacon and Onions and the Lamb Casserole with Minted New Potatoes. The Thai curries ( both red and green ) are lovely, just spicy enough, and the portions are generous...a double size portion really does feed two hungry adults! They are a great standby to keep in the freezer, especially the microwaveable recipes...fantastic value. Keep 'em coming!! (ps small complaint...didn't… Read Full Review

After reading the reviews, I was a bit wary of trying Food - however I bought the Lasagne al Forno and it was delicious. My only concern is, having looked on the pack, it doesn't say where the mince came from. I don't like the thought of foreign mince ... however, I would thoroughly recommend this dish - and I'm not easily pleased usually ! I would say there is plenty for three people in this dish costing £6.99. Not really enough for four, especially if they are hungry men… Read Full Review

I wasn't sure what to expect, for me frozen meals from supermarkets are usually over-processed & taste pretty bland. I decided to go ahead & buy from Cook as i had little time to prepare meals at home. I am so glad i did, it's the best thing i have done in a long time! The meals are amazing, we have been astonished by the quality & taste. It takes no effort & hardly any dishes used, & the best part is it tastes fantastic. The lasagne's are amazing - even the macaroni has an edge to it! We love… Read Full Review

Was initially recommended by family member...now wish I wasn't.
The 3 best words to sum up this company, are: overpriced, over-rated and pretentious!
We visited their store in Billericay. Straight away, we were approached by a member of staff trying to get us to try their 'hot taster' and said did we know what the shop did...yes, frozen meals - maybe we looked stupid! They eventually left us alone.
We did go into this shop with high hopes following previous rave reviews, however, we wish… Read Full Review

Cheese Souffles with Red Onion Marmalade
I have been buying from Cook for many a moon. T'other day, en passant, I saw an A board outside Big Momma's Oxted shop advertising the first Cheese Souffles. Calledin; and boughtThis, therefore, is not a review per se. Rather is it a request that you pass on to Carol Malby my sincere congratulations for the great enjoyment she accorded me this evening- March 20th.- for the packaging names Carol as the creator of this new kid on the block! I bought the new style lamb shanks with vegetables and they were inedible, very hard and parsnip hard and stringy. The meat and gravy were okay but otherwise very disappointing, maybe leave out the veg!
Also I bought the steak and red wine pie which says "all butter short crust pastry". No way, it was more like water pastry, hard and flat, that too was disappointing as I love pastry, innards were okay. Unfortunately both times it was a meal for my mother who is 84 and likes good food.
